So I understand from the bbc that kc got the three million they were waiting for and which was given to support restructuring of the charity and promptly spent 800 grand of it on the months salary bill! What on earth were they thinking? Looks like it's totally done for now.

This reminds me a bit of the Nigella Lawson court case last year -largesse being displayed to assistants and their relatives with no monitoring or accountability, except this is a government funded charity.

The BBC and Buzzfeed have found out more on this mesmerisation. The breathtaking arrogance and pressure of this is just staggering. They probably thought that the great and the good wuld believe this stuff, just like they believe so much "mesmerising" stuff. But the BBC said that some officials were angered by this. Thank God for that, it restores faith in the great and the good that there are actually some of them that have common sense and aren't politically correct and don't fall for luvvies and charidees.

"Kids Company warned its closure could cause 'rioting'
...
BBC Newsnight and BuzzFeed News have learned of a document, emailed to civil servants in the name of Alan Yentob, chair of the charity's trustees, on 2 June. It warned that a sudden closure of the charity would mean a "high risk of arson attacks on government buildings".

The document also warned of a high risk of "looting" and "rioting", and cautioned that the "communities" served by Kids Company could "descend into savagery". The document was written in language that civil servants across government described as "absurd", "hysterical" and "extraordinary".

The document was the first part of the case made by Kids Company, which sought to help young people up to the age of 24, for the £3m grant. It was part of a proposal that the financially troubled charity should be restructured into a much smaller "child wellbeing hub", which could survive on a smaller income."

"child wellbeing hub" ?
When is someone going to stop being politically correct and get a grip. Taxpayer money for these type of things when some people are losing their homes because of the bedroom tax.

Camila and Yentob are getting a grilling by MPs today. Should be interesting.

Interesting indeed.

I was reading this last night. Concerns raised as far back as 2002:

Choice quote:

Notes from within the Pilgrim Trust reveal that its staff regarded Kids Company's behaviour as "suspicious" even before the first grant was paid.

Documents seen by BBC Newsnight and BuzzFeed News show the charity provided a litany of excuses for not supplying them with information, ranging from a "specific learning disability" which prevents Ms Batmanghelidjh from using a computer keyboard, to a bank manager responsible for reproducing withdrawal slips "falling off a roof and [being] off sick".

Falling off a roof? ffs

I watched the proceedings of the Parliamentary Committee last night, firstly in idle interest - I was channel surfing when I came across it - then in fascination. Ms Batmanghelidgh is obviously not used to anybody asking her to explain her actions and could not be pinned down to answer questions. Alan Yentob was therefore the focus of questions, as he was obviously more prepared to answer them (to a certain extent). Fascinating.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if this is far more sinister than it seems.
