Viva sadly it wouldn't surprise me if they had said it. I do hope it is made up

Happyringo · 05/06/2015 21:30

It was a statement from her lawyers, if what I read is correct.

I don't see the problem with it. Whether mechanical or human, the park clearly had a duty of care and they failed in that. As a result, her life is - at best - on hold for a considerable period of time. Why is it crass to look for redress? Her family are probably pretty angry, and rightly so.

VivaLeBeaver · 05/06/2015 21:34

Agree, even if they have said it then it's probably because they're angry and want to blame people.....quite rightly. I read that she's a dancer, so maybe they're worried her career is over before it's hardly begun.

CattyCatCat · 05/06/2015 21:40

As a statement, I think it was absolutely fine. The lawyer was simply stating what we all know to be the case. Of course the poor girl will need compensation and quite likely immediately of there is a chance she could seek rehabilitation etc in the best private facilities, possibly even abroad.

I agree that the AT boss is coming across excellently. It is an appalling situation but he is acting in a humble and apologetic way.

Redglitter · 05/06/2015 21:43

I don't see anything wrong with seeking compensation but considering she's still seriously ill and the accident only happened a few days ago I just can't imagine that contacting lawyers etc would even be on my radar at the moment.

Happyringo · 05/06/2015 21:50

Yeah but unless it actually happens to you then you don't know how you actually would react, only how you think you would. The families just have to do what's right for them, and if contacting lawyers helps them then there we are, it helps them.

CattyCatCat · 05/06/2015 21:53

Agree that contacting lawyers might help them to feel that they have some element of control over a terrifying situation.

Nellagain · 05/06/2015 22:01

Who knows that the family contacted the lawyers. Equally as likely that the lawyers contacted the fam8oy in the first place given the details of the injured are out there.

Yeasayer · 05/06/2015 22:04

What makes you think the families have contacted lawyers? It's in the national news. They've probably been inundated with calls & been advised to get the ball rolling while the evidence is still being collected.

I don't agree with the compensation culture that's engulfing our country but in this instance I think it's valid.

stolenview · 05/06/2015 22:05

I'm a bit Hmm at the kB hate. She unlike the bbc didn't just let him read a statement, she challenged him and drilled to get more information and made him squirm.

Was the dancer a pro tallented dancer or just a recreational dancer?

Happyringo · 05/06/2015 22:07

Well ok, the statement doesn't make it clear who made the first phone call. It does appear that the lawyers are representing the family though, so does it matter? To be honest if the family are being inundated with media and other requests, I imagine it's actually better to hand over all communication to an outside party...

Nicknacky · 05/06/2015 22:16

stolen At one point she was arguing with him, cutting him off and miss interpreting what he said. He came across really sincere and she looked like she was spoiling for a fight.

CattyCatCat · 05/06/2015 22:17

She is being described as 'a dancer' so you would assume it is her profession and income from that description.

GoofyIsACow · 05/06/2015 22:25

I have just watched the KB interview... She is a fucking disgrace!

He however, came across very well, i would have told her to fuck off and left chances are that is why im not ceo of anything

AnyoneForTennis · 05/06/2015 22:37

She's still at uni tho... So would've been her profession, how sad

stolenview · 05/06/2015 22:37

Well I agree with kB, the need to add extra security means that people will have been at risk before.

She's a journalist, she's not just going to pat him on the head and say its OK love.

CattyCatCat · 05/06/2015 22:38

I've watched the bbc interview but I draw the line at watching Burley.

LMGTFY · 05/06/2015 22:42

If it was my child in that position I would be contacting anyone who could provide the means to give them the best possible chance of recovery even if that meant going private or overseas, which if it meant calling one of the top 'no win, no fee' solicitors, I absolutely would. To call that poor taste when you haven't a clue what is going on is rather rude and ignorant.

I'm on this thread as AT is a special place to me and I care that people are hurt, the speculation and bollocks that some people are coming out with is shameful.

Nicknacky · 05/06/2015 22:46

stolenI have just bought a new car. It has brakes, obviously but they have added airbags. Does that mean my car was less safe before or that it has an additional safety feature?

She is a journalist who should be remaining professional. She didn't, she came across like she was losing control and that's why she was repeating herself.

I have no idea why sky use her.

VikingVolva · 05/06/2015 22:48

"the need to add extra security means that people will have been at risk before"

I don't see it like that. I see it more like grounding aircraft for extra checks after there has been a horrible crash. It doesn't mean there is any fault or risk at all (in operation, maintenance or manufacture) rather that they are taking an extra precaution to reassure both themselves and the public.

stolenview · 05/06/2015 22:50

Of course your car is less safe without airbags. Surely they are mandatory in new cars? My cheapo old car has them.

KB probably has all of sky scared of her, from a friend that worked there her team are very scared of her. Quite nice to have a female boss that just doest give a shit and doesn't be all BBC like.

CattyCatCat · 05/06/2015 22:53

Totally, agree, LMG. Her parents may be staying in a hotel and know already (from the extent of her injuries) that they will not be able to work again any time soon. Lack of income would be an immediate problem for most people. A lawyer will immediately set to work to secure an interim payment from AT to allow the family to live and support her as best they can and as you say, to seek specialist treatment ASAP.

Nicknacky · 05/06/2015 22:56

No, my car is no less safer without airbags. But should I have an accident then they are an additional feature. They don't make the actual vehicle safer, but if I have an accident then they are there.

Female bosses don't need to be aggressive and arrogant to be respected. Being professional will bring respect.

CattyCatCat · 05/06/2015 22:56

Basically, the lawyer will say, you know you are going to have to pay out compensation, please give us a proportion of that figure ASAP so that the family and girl can benefit. No fault with this at all, God bless the whole family, I hope they get all the help they need as quickly as possible.
