This woman has 13 children already aged between 10 and 44. She also has 7 grandchildren.

And she's pregnant with quads from donor eggs and sperm.

God knows how her children must feel.

Should doctors have some sort of code of conduct with fertility treatment? Surely this is just wrong?

I dunno. It's not fair on the kids and I say that as an older Mother.

Bowlersarm · 12/04/2015 18:20

The menopause happens for a reason.

butterflyballs · 12/04/2015 18:21

I know women who got pregnant naturally in their late forties which I think is ok, I'm heading for that age now and it wouldn't be my choice but I would cope. But 65? My mum and dad are only 6 years older than her, I can't imagine them announcing a baby!!

I'm sure there will be lots of people coming on here saying " her body, her choice" any minute now, and usually I would agree.

But...

Fucking ridiculous and irresponsible.

So she will have teenage quads when she is in her 80s. Good luck with that.

Poor kids.

And whilst I am sure she is a wonderful woman and the best mum she can be, poor the 13 others as well who cant get that much time /attention as it is.

Gyne is a twat.

ragged · 12/04/2015 18:35

Just why ? When there are so many children in the world who need good homes. If you're not done having kids, then why deliberately risk Quads (at any age). Ugh.

Koalafications · 12/04/2015 18:39

Quadruplets at age 65?! My uterus is quivering at the thought.

Formysister218 · 12/04/2015 18:44

It's wrong and very unfair to all the children involved. It's just selfish behaviour.

championnibbler · 12/04/2015 19:00

i agree with Bowlersarm about menopause happening for a reason.
honestly, she's a selfish bint.
And the doctors who green-lighted this should be struck off.

butterflyballs · 12/04/2015 23:18

Quivering uterus? Mine has pulled down the shutters and put a "fuck right off" note on the front!

That's just so wrong.

And if she and all the babies survive to anywhere near term it will be a miracle Sad

primarywannabe · 12/04/2015 23:23

Just realised my grandmother was a great grandma by that age!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 12/04/2015 23:33

I've considered egg donation of we get to the stage of IVF, this type of story puts me off wanting to donate

It's wrong from every angle and any Dr involved should be struck off.

I'm not clicking on the link.

But I am wondering how she managed to talk a fertility clinic into this. The health risks from the pregnancy are surely lots higher than normal at 65? And she's already had 13 kids. You'd think after 13 kids you'd accept the menopause as a sign that you'd had enough kids.

Igneococcus · 13/04/2015 06:26

Egg donation is not available in Germany, she went somewhere else with a lot less regulation, I assume. I read the story in two different German papers and none stated where it was done.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 13/04/2015 06:30

What's interesting is it says she had her last child 10 years ago. She looks about 20 years older than the photo of her with that child as a baby - obviousky taking its toll so god knows what this will be like

merrymouse · 13/04/2015 06:41

Why is there a picture of a 'sex toy that aids with insemination' at the bottom of the page?

nooka · 13/04/2015 06:44

I would have thought that the chance of her miscarrying was very high. Quads must mean four embryos implanted so bad practice on that front too. Of course a clinic treating a foreigner has no real incentive to practice ethically as they won't really care about (or possibly even know about) the final outcome, just the initial success rate.

Igneococcus · 13/04/2015 06:49

I doubt they will care very much about the women donating the eggs either. There are risks with egg donation and I worry how well the donating women are looked after where this was done.

merrymouse · 13/04/2015 06:54

I think the story here is more

"Dodgy clinics provide unregulated IVF services that go against all medical guidelines, leaving patients in danger and national healthcare system to pick up the pieces".

Than

"65 year old women want to be pregnant".

Stealthpolarbear · 13/04/2015 07:15

" And whilst I am sure she is a wonderful woman and the best mum she can be, poor the 13 others as well who cant get that much time /attention as it is."
at least one of them is old enough to be a grandparent at 44, so I don't think lack of adequate parental supervision for that one is too big a worry :o
this is messed up

Sidge · 13/04/2015 10:57

That's another point I was thinking NoArmani - if I'd donated eggs in the hope that a childless couple could have a baby I'd be really pissed off if I found out they'd been given to an elderly (in reproductive terms) lady who already had 13 children.

(Disclaimer - I know you don't find out where your eggs have gone but the possibility is offputting).

Stealthpolarbear · 13/04/2015 17:05

apparently she did it as her youngest wanted a younger sibling
I bet she's learned the wisdom of "be careful what you wish from" at a young age
