Little boy has been removed from hospital by his parents

He is very sick, needs constant treatment. His parents have taken him to France.

I don't understand why the hospital didn't notice or alert the police for 6 hours.

The police won't comment on the parents being Jehovah's Witnesses.

It sounds wrong when the statement said he was removed without consent. The child is theirs, should be allowed to be in charge of him, but of course it is he that will lose his life if not cared for and that isn't in his best interests necessarily.

I hope he is found and can be cured.

Oh that's great news, not so long and they will be reunited with all of their family. What a terrible ordeal for all of them. I hope the little boy gets to have the treatment his parents want him to have

GimmeMySquash · 02/09/2014 15:19

The police still won't say sorry, arseholes!

Thank goodness they are all backing down. Why are ALL the siblings still not being allowed to have contact today/Now?

GimmeMySquash · 02/09/2014 15:21

A lot of families have professionals do this sort of thing to them, they did it to my family and other families with the same conditions we have.

cupofsneeze · 02/09/2014 15:27

I'm shocked at the age of the kids that have got this information into the public domain and completely changed the way this was going to play out.

The young lad who organised, publicised and delivered the petition was 16 years old Shock

Their parents must be very proud.

MerryMarigold · 02/09/2014 15:31

Icimoi: Was the hospital supposed to shrug its shoulders and ignore that?

Ok, there is an extreme of ignoring the issue and taking to the High Court, misinforming the police, taking out EAWs etc. It is not as simple as ignore or end up imprisoning.

I think the police should have been informed, yes. Even a public request made for the parents to get in touch as the hospital were worried without all the feeding machine lies. The local police in whatever country they were 'found' in, plus the Hampshire police consulting each other. There were ways and means to handle this, but they went to an extreme.

WetAugust · 02/09/2014 15:32

I have not heard whether the High Court order has been lifted. It may be that the guardianship order is still in place in which case the King's could not automatically take him for the Proton B.

I hope Southampton General Hospital are investigating the complaint that Mr King made against their 2 doctors on his original Youtube video. There is no doubt that he made that complaint and levelled very specific reasons for his complaint.

I hope that someone refers Hampshire Police to the IPCC.

The conduct of the CPS also needs investigating as there were steps they could have taken without using the nuclear option of a European Arrest Warrant which they knew would automatically result in the arrest of the parents (the clue is in the name of the instrument they used 'Arrest').

I hope they do get the treatment they want for Ashya (the funds seem to be available as a cancer charity has said it will pay).

And I hope that when the Kings' lives settle down a bit they sue the sorry asses of all those that causd their family such distress. They will be doing us a public favour by doing so.

plinkyplonks · 02/09/2014 15:37

So unbelievably happy!! Now release the parents today and let them decide on how their child is treated :)

edamsavestheday · 02/09/2014 15:43

that's good news re. withdrawing the arrest warrant, I imagine the Spanish authorities will be very pissed off at their time being wasted.

plinkyplonks · 02/09/2014 15:59

Ward of court still need to be removed - Portsmouth Council still need to decide whether to revoke this or not.

GimmeMySquash · 02/09/2014 16:09

I agree they will do the public a favour if they sue and make complaints.

Do you have the name of the cancer charity willing to help the family?

WetAugust · 02/09/2014 16:18

Portsmouth Council rep on the radio back peddling like mad. They only asked for the high court order because Southampton and the police had convinced them it was necessary. They only got involved because the family lives in their area. She thought that once Ashya had been found and taken to hospital last Friday that matters should have ended then

Hoe naive. She should have realised that once you open a Pandoras box with an EAW you unleash a chain reaction that ou may not have intended.

So the police are claiming they were lead astray

The council is claiming they were led astray

Looks like the music has stopped and we all know who is holding the parcel!

WetAugust · 02/09/2014 16:21

High court hearing has asked for a proposed treatment plan for Ashya. The court will convene next Monday to consider next steps.

Parents still in custody awaiting uk to formally ask the Spanish to release them

Why the hell are these agencies blaming each other? How many serious case reviews blame poor information sharing as being being the cockup. Why are do ss not have their Dr look over the info Dr's share, why don't ss have a legal person look over what they police share and make and informed decision BEFORE court. Why don't the police have their own Dr look over what the hospital are sharing so they make an informed decision and so on?

It is known they do this and yet they think each other is speaking from the gospel ffs.

GimmeMySquash · 02/09/2014 16:25

Sorry about the typing there kept changing what I was saying and deleted badly.

Yes. Time after time inquires cite poor communications between agencies and time after time we are told " lessons will be learnt". Which we all know is just untrue

My own frustrations in trying to corral half a dozen agencies who should have been assisting a child with SENs is something that many parents report they too have experienced. It usually ends up with the parents being forced go orchestrate the agencies The whole sorry system is just not joined up.

But police cannot vet what the hospital is telling them - they have to trust what they are told. The LA similarly must act when they are urged to do so. All they care about is that the right bits of paper are placed in front of them signed by the right people action starts. that gives them the ass cover they need.

All you need is a little over exaggeration or a little failure to scrutinise and you can see how it sons balls into a monster with a life of its own.

Greengrow · 02/09/2014 16:48

Ah CAFCASS has its claws into them. The family will probably be rent asunder or under supervision of social workers for 10 years now.

maccie · 02/09/2014 16:56

CAFCASS were utterly fantastic in our situation. Similar in that it was us/doctors/SW. They were interested only with minimising the effects on the children and were very strong advocates in promoting contact for all family members. They were not interested in who was right or wrong in the case just that it had as little detrimental effect as was possible. They documented the emotional distress the children were suffering throughout the process and managed to speed it up on occasions.

There involvement could be a positive thing for the king family

Who ever is carrying out these communication training courses for professionals seems to be teaching them how to fob service users tax payers off like salesmen.

More is coming out. It seems their were concerns that the boy ,au not be being transported lying flown as the hospital had recommended. There were concerns because it's been stated the parents did not tell the hospital they were leaving with their don

The hospital is now trying to pass the buck by saying that itvwas Portsmouth Council with police advice that requested the ward ship of the high court - not them. sickening cynical behaviour. The hospital say they could nit Recommend the PBT treatment but we're not averse to the parents attempting it. Reading between the lines that strikes me as a cynicL attempt to avoid the PBT treatment

This is a disgraceful buck passing spectacle that's being played out in front of us.

WetAugust · 02/09/2014 17:25

Lying down. Sorry about the typos

WetAugust · 02/09/2014 17:26

avoid the PBT treatment costs.

Grin

Not funny really, there is a lot of truth behind it. Fortunately most taxpayers aren't idiots.
