Rolf Harris charged with more sex offences

"Rolf Harris is facing three further prosecutions for sexual assault including one against girl "aged seven or eight", prosecutors have said.

The three counts are in addition to 13 alleged sexual offences which the entertainer was charged with in August.

The new counts are against females aged 19 in 1984, aged seven or eight in 1968 or 1969, and aged 14 in 1975.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said the allegations related to one existing complainant and two new ones."

Of courts you are, Rooney. What a horrible turn of events. But heartening that the investigations are being done properly, and that people feel they can come forward.

I feel so sick and angry about him. Ds1 was at school near where this man lived. He would do fete openings and come and talk about art. He would be charming if you met him when out for a walk. All these times he was surrounded by little girls at the school.... bastard

Oh, that is horrible. I feel much sadder about Rolf facing charges than any of the other celebs - because he seemed like a genuinely nice guy, while the others were creepy anyway.

Friends of mine bought a picture of his not that long ago, and he was there in the gallery. Really good with the kids, apparently... sickening IF he's eventually found guilty.

No, we've been told there's credible evidence he's downloaded recently. It is up to a jury to decide whether that evidence is credible or not.
Fwiw I have my own thoughts on this, along with previous impressions, but we cannot say 'this HAS happened'.

I would be excused if I was called to sit on the jury for this case. So you can rest easy.

It has not been proven that he has downloaded these images. Let's wait to see what the actual trial brings up.

There are also severities in the type of pics so again we don't know what the pics depict.

Also, downloading pics is very different crime to actually abusing other people. Again we need to see what the trial begins.

Men lie about these things. Women lie too. It's up to a judge and jury to decide who they believe after weighing up the evidence.

Such a different tone here from the threads about Savile.

I feel so sad, because I loved Rolf Harris and just cant believe another person from my childhood has been oing this stuff. He just seemed so nice.

The difference with him and Savile is that Savile always gave me the creeps and I never really liked him..

FFS! I cannot put into words how I feel about people who think that downloading images of children who are being abused is any worse than doing the abuse yourself. The ignorance bewilders me.

I used to like Rolf Harris too.

When I first heard about there being pictures, I did wonder whether the pictures had somehow been misinterpreted, and whether they could have been artistic pictures and somehow acceptable. But I guess not now there's sexual assault charges involved.

No doubt that downloading child porn pics is pedophilia, what I'm saying is that it doesn't mean he has abused these people. He may have downloaded pics but not abused these people.

I don't think saying "we believe you" is helpful.

Also I was trying to find a solud trial where he has been found guilty if downloading child porn, but I haven't found anything.

I don't know if he is guilty or innocent of the accusations. I hope he is innocent. I'd like solid evidence as there was with JS before condemning him as a pedophile.

I don't agree with you that he hasn't abused the children in the photos (or videos). And some of the charges relate to him making indecent images of a child.

Oh wait has he actually been convicted yet? No? So still innocent until proven guilty then?
