So the last thread on the Grillo case is full.

I have taken the liberty of starting a new one here for people's thoughts as the case unfolds.

Jux. I nearly sat bolt upright as I was trying to get to sleep last night.
I realised then, as well as this morning that I cant remember whether I did report yours or not!
Like I say, it was a while before you came back. I cant for the life of me remember whether I then did or not.
I reported something else[I think] to them yesterday afternoon, and now I am muddled.
I have thought before, that when you report, there is no record our end that we have done so.

I am sure that this has no bearing on life and the universe and all that!

[I did report my own as you recommended. Sure of that]

Jux · 19/12/2013 08:32

Golddigger, it's not important whether you did or not, or anything like that! Certainly not worth waking up for Grin The important thing was that it got deleted before MN wound up having to go to Court or anything.

merrymouse · 19/12/2013 14:36

Also re: family, can you imagine saying "my mum/sister/cousin had a serious drugs problem, so I assumed there was an unspoken agreement that I could spend whatever I liked on her credit card as long as I didn't tell her DH about the drugs."

In what alternative universe is that the act of a caring family member and not blackmail?

BerylStreep · 19/12/2013 15:32

Breaking news! - all parties have been called back into court

BerylStreep · 19/12/2013 15:52

Oh, as you were. It seems it was just clarify a ruling - which apparently is subject to reporting restrictions. I am frankly amazed that there may be even more which hasn't been reported.

TheDoctrineOfSanta · 19/12/2013 16:58

Points of law are often subject to restriction:s.

BerylStreep · 19/12/2013 17:14

Jury has gone home for the day.

OP posts:
Mary2010xx · 19/12/2013 17:53

So we might know tomorrow.

revivingshower · 20/12/2013 09:25

So if the Grillo's get off, for whatever reason, it will then seem they told the truth about Nigella, even if they didn't.
I can believe she did some drugs but they have really made her look bad, saying she was off her head the whole time and let the kids take drugs etc.

BerylStreep · 20/12/2013 11:30

The jury has now said that they need to reach a majority verdict, as opposed to unanimous.

OP posts:
BerylStreep · 20/12/2013 11:31

Sorry, the judge has said the jury need only reach a majority verdict.

OP posts:
BerylStreep · 20/12/2013 12:41

OMG! Both not guilty!

OP posts:
HRHwheezing · 20/12/2013 12:44

Dear me!

Eastpoint · 20/12/2013 12:45

Wow, I guess the jury felt there was insufficient evidence to convict. What a shambles Saatchi's accounts department must be.

TheGhostOfPortoPast · 20/12/2013 12:46
Shock
BerylStreep · 20/12/2013 12:47

I am absolutely amazed. I had thought that Elisabetta might get off, purely because the scale of the spending hadn't been as high. But I was convinced that Francesca was likely to be found guilty as it was sums in the region of £585k she was alleged to have taken.

OP posts:
BeCool · 20/12/2013 12:47

I expected this I'm afraid - not because of the Nigella drug defence, but because I think they were used as pawns by CS to attack NL & they were able to show reasonable doubt throughout.
They jury didn't take much time either did they?
Awaiting media frenzy.

teejwood · 20/12/2013 12:47

So defence threw enough shit to stick. Sad.

revivingshower · 20/12/2013 12:56

So what I mentioned earlier will be the case for Nigella, even though the Grillos may have exaggerated her drug use there is no come back for her on this I believe? Looking at the evidence I just can't believe nigella did use that much drugs and yet was able to fool Saatchi for years, write books etc.

BeCool · 20/12/2013 12:58

Just because they were found NG does in no way mean what the said about NL is true.

ExcuseTypos · 20/12/2013 13:03

I'm very shocked

How the hell did they manage to be found not guilty.

revivingshower · 20/12/2013 13:05

I agree becool but maybe the media will take it that way? There have been already lots of headlines that made it seem she did things just because the Grillos said it. But I believe Nigella is not allowed to sue for libel or anything?

I am really shocked.

It's ok to take £600,000 from your employers.

That's a job to have that pays in benefits doesn't it?

So we have this today and not guilty re the police officers yesterday.
I have little faith in the jury system today.

LittleBearPad · 20/12/2013 13:12

Absolutely Sauce.

No one comes out of this well, particarly the defendants.
