In the trial prosecution evidence. Aha.

OP posts:
Golddigger · 29/11/2013 17:49

So are there 2 explanations left?

Either the grillos have made the entire think up about Nigella taking drugs daily for 10 years.
Or there was alledgely lots of drug taking by Nigella, and CS didnt know about them?

Golddigger · 29/11/2013 17:51

I find it odd, interesting or both, that it was the accountants that upped the creditcard spending limit.

saragossa2010 · 29/11/2013 17:55

I suppose it was the accountant because it was a company credit card. Even that is unusual (Saatchi says he repaid any personal expenditure back but even so most business owners keep separate cards for home and work expenditure).

noddyholder · 29/11/2013 18:03

My dp is quite easily duped lol

mrswarbouys · 29/11/2013 18:25

I'm bored with all this now. I hope some dirt emerges...

OddFodd · 29/11/2013 18:26

Bollocks to him not knowing how much things cost - I saw him with Nigella several times in Waitrose. Presumably he had a vague idea of the correlation between items in the trolley/amount at the till.

MooncupGoddess · 29/11/2013 18:30

That doesn't mean he paid any attention to the prices, though. He probably didn't even look at the price tags or total cost, just handed his credit card over.

mrswarbouys · 29/11/2013 18:41

I wish he'd buy himself a tie

claig · 29/11/2013 18:44

Ties are not cool for the arty people. Ties are for bankers.

Golddigger · 29/11/2013 18:47

Say he is worth £130 million which is £130,000,000.
Say the average man in the street is worth £13,000 [I think that the average person is £56,000 in debt, but never mind.

So £750,000 to him is worth the equivalent of £750 to us [I took 3 000's off].

I really dont think he is going to be bothered whether a dozen eggs is £2 or shock horror £3.

I'm not saying that he was price checking but I'd imagine he'd notice if the bill was 3k if he only bought a dozen eggs? He may be rich; he's not stupid.

merrymouse · 29/11/2013 19:02

As far as i can see The 1.2 million was run up by 5 assistants for the household, not just the grillo sisters, and not all of it is disputed. I don't know what proportion is disputed, but it doesn't all seem to relate to this case or even nigella.

Golddigger · 29/11/2013 19:07

But this isnt about him at the supermarket buying a few items and complaining about the bill.

merrymouse · 29/11/2013 19:07

I have been subscribing to 'goop', so feel I have an insight into how the other half lives, and let me tell you that this week gwyneth was recommending a shop that sells 'artisan' napkins for £45 each. I think that if you look in the right places it's quite easy to spend money.

Golddigger · 29/11/2013 19:10

How many do you get for your £45 Grin

I always think that the rich add at least one 0 to everything they buy.

claig · 29/11/2013 19:12

Yes, merrymouse is right. Also it was not only the Grillos who spent money on items for themselves. But I don't think the others' spending amounts were as large.

"Anthony Metzer QC, defending Elisabetta, told the court it was common practice for other personal assistants to spend thousands on luxury goods for themselves.

Miss Lawson's other PAs - Anzelle Wasserman, Zoe Wales, and Alice Binks - all used the credit cards to fund the purchases.

Mr Metzer said they notched up bills running into the thousands at Annabel's, a private members club popular with the Royal family. They also spent money on Christian Louboutin shoes, wedding parties, and sprees at Babington House.

He said: 'The position about all the other personal assistants is precisely the same in relation to the type of expenditure they incurred as to the other PAs in this case.'

Jurors were told that other personal assistants were not investigated.

Mr Metzer insisted that Elisabetta and her sister believed they were allowed to spend the cash.

He said: 'Unbeknown to you they believed that they were authorised to incur this personal expenditure, and suddenly you were saying they were not.'

'this week gwyneth was recommending a shop that sells 'artisan' napkins for £45 each'

Cheapskate

merrymouse · 29/11/2013 19:24

Wonder if hmrc will be trying to recover class 1a NI contributions?

Whatever the ins and outs of the situation the accountants shouldn't have just been turning a blind eye to extravagant employee gifts.

Bonsoir · 29/11/2013 19:28

I'm surprised the auditors didn't say anything, given that the monies were transiting through CS' business.

OddFodd · 29/11/2013 19:31

No, I know it's not about that. I'm just painting out that the image of him as a man untarnished by the little things in life is bullshit. As his former employee points out.

I wonder actually if he had the drug problem?

lalalonglegs · 29/11/2013 19:49

Usedto - I think you should ask for your post to be removed.

bishbashboosh · 29/11/2013 20:57

I think we can all see through this!!!

What a knob

Animation · 29/11/2013 21:03

UsedToWorkForSaatchi

Thanks for your insights. I suspect you may be right ..that he's sociopathic.

And OddFold - yes he may have the drug problem

Golddigger · 29/11/2013 21:03

the trouble with Usedto's post is that she does not have a history that is traceable on here, so she could be anybody. Even if it is traceable, this is still an anonymous internet forum.
Not saying that the post is true, or that it is not true, but unfortunately, we all have no way have knowing for sure.
