Guidelines out today suggest that people in court on domestic violence charges could escape jail if they "show genuine remorse".

What a pile of cr*p.

This is outrageuos(sp?) Anyone can say sorry, not mean it and do it again.
i was in a violent relationship about 5 years ago, and in the end i hit back and broke his nose (not something i'm proud ofBlush)
But i have never seen him again, aparently he moved away!Smile

How many men stood in the dock will say "yes I hit her, and no, I'm not a bit sorry and I'll do it again next time she looks at me the wrong way. So there".

The more I think about it, the more incredulous I am that there isn't a public scandal about this. Where's the Daily Mail when you need it?

Custardo,
agree with everything you're saying about this (and despite seriousness of subject you're still making me laugh)

Edam,
wouldn't hold out much hope wrt the Attorney General being as how its that delightful man Lord Goldsmith ("sorry did I say the war on Iraq was illegal, of course I meant its completely legal - silly me")

Maybe they're attempting to recreate the old French law of "crime passionelle"
