The rules of YouTube say no insulting religion yet this anti Islam film created by US Christian group is still up despit the trouble and death it had caused by claiming Muhammad is a bisexual pedophile, bastard son of an adulterious woman, making it up as he goes along to suit his own evilness.

How much more insulting to a religion can you get?.

"Obama isn't helping matters tho, it's blindi ngly obvious this would cause riots, but rather then come out and condemn the people who made it, say it's not the view of Americans and tell YouTube to take it down, he just stupidly comes out and complains about the terrorists who killed that man."

Good. It's not his job to pander to small minded extremists who would riot on the back of a youtube video. If he starts to try and wield his power to censor people just to stop a reaction from scum bag terrorists then the minority of extremist wins.
If you're asking who should be condemned between someone who makes a video and terrorists killing someone, then for once I'm siding with Obama.

He's not distancing the country from it enough, he's doing nothing to put out the fire.

Shit snowball's look at the London riots, started out as a protest about police shooting an unarmed man and covering it up, then everyone joined in.

Yeah because the type of people who so vehemently hate western society that they will kill over videos, cartoons or statements are going to be placated by Obama and accept his words.

It would help, peace has never been obtained via tilt for tat insults. It comes from understanding, solidarity and deplomacy.

Someone makes a video the other side kills someone = tit for tat

SunWukong · 15/09/2012 12:34

Tilt for tat, war of words, you know full well I'm talking about politicians.

And i would hardly call a load of rioting mobs from Africa and the middle east, the other side

Peace comes in all sorts of ways. Sometimes through diplomacy and a long slow intermingling of people but sometimes through war (e.g. Europe). Generally the most common reason for peace is economic progression. Obama distancing himself from the video will do little to help peace while the middle east is still so caught up in conflict over land, water and economic growth.

Freedom of speech, the right to criticise even if it is considered offensive if was of the founding and fundamental principles of the USA. In particular the right to criticise religion.

For Obama to distance the US from that is like asking the religious leaders in the middle east to distance themselves from Mohammed. It is fundamentally at odds with the way the American people think of themselves (which is not to say any but a tiny percentage agree with the specific message of that video.

So that gives people an excuse to murder and kill innocent people ?It's like blaming a battered woman for being beaten up by her violent husband .

No.

If the film is not illegal in the country it is being shown/hosted then there is no reason for it to be taken down.

Other countries are free to censor it within their borders if they wish, but the US should not be pressured to act against its own laws in order to placate a bunch of nutters.

The violence has nothing to do with the actual film, it is just an excuse.

The film did not cause the violence and death, the people acting violently and killing people did. They had a choice and they chose to behave like that.
