Rather scary that someone could be that ignorant of western culture. Our calendar is based loosely on years after Christ was supposed to have been born.
The days of the week are named after gods, August is named after a Roman emperor who thought he was a god.
The use of 60 minutes is based upon ancient middle eastern numerology which was a religion of a style we see little of these days.
These aren't trivial things in the eyes of religious people. Any religion that gets control of a country is generally ruthless in eliminating such things, and Judaism, Christianity and Islam have cruel and unusual punishments for the observance of other gods.
Ties, beloved of those whose thought processes are simplistic enough to believe in school uniform are derived from making a sign of the cross. Note we don't see many Iranian leaders wearing them.
As for buns, I doubt there is any food that isn't forbidden to a good chunk of humanity. Most cakes in this country contain animal products...
Many refuse to eat things that have not been sanctioned by a committee of senior members of their faith. The fess they charge are not rake offs, no not at all, they just cover expenses.
Then there's all the stuff about when you are allowed to eat, and who with.
Fact is that if someone wants to be offended by something thre is absolutely nothing you can do to avoid it.
We're not Christians even slightly, but 2.0 makes hot cross buns, which are of superior quality, though ironically they are (presumably) acceptable to Buddhists in honour of my allergy to eggs.
