Here it is! We had a great time staying here! Loads of things to do in the surrounding areas too.

Dinosaur · 16/01/2006 12:56

Rhubarb that looks fantastic! Is it absolutely necessary to have a car to get around once you are there, or is there enough to do that is within walking distance/public transport?

tamum · 16/01/2006 12:58

Would the hats be those outsize sombreros? You could each be carrying a large straw donkey under your arms too

Rhubarb · 16/01/2006 12:59

Well, it is brilliant for walkers and cyclists, but if you wanted to see more of the surrounding areas, you really do need a car as this is right in the heart of the Highlands so public transport is scarce!

Janh · 16/01/2006 13:04

NB Don't go to the Highlands in July and August unless you actively enjoy scratching.

Ahhh, don't be so soft! They're only midgies!

OK, dragged the paper out of the broken glass AND IT'S NOT IN THE TRAVEL SECTION!!! It's in the ruddy family section, but in travel online. Useless ruddy guarniad.

Very cute picture though

FrenchGirl · 16/01/2006 18:31

ah thank goodness for that link MI, I looked through another paper and thought for a minute you were Caitlin Moran .... (well she has two daughters you know....)

Janh · 16/01/2006 22:06

(ahem) it's in Family online too, serenity (at least it is in MI's link )

I googled travel (plus like a million other words) and assumed that's where I ended up.....

It's been a long day.

Janh · 16/01/2006 23:24

Ah, OK, dear, as you googled you are forgiven - it is in Travel too!

MI, such fame!

And a rather good article too, subject (ahem) to the Grauniad sub-editing error which has dp referring to the excessive wickedness of the environmental challenge. A point I have never forgotten since our Anglo-Saxon tutor attempted to explain it to me via a humorous anecdote whose punchline was "the bishop's testicular enormities".

motherinferior · 17/01/2006 16:11

Delivered no doubt with his usual comic timing and impeccable wit.

Bink · 17/01/2006 16:16

We were alone at the time. A large potted plant (you will remember) sat on the table between us. As it dawned on him that there was no way back, he was going to have to finish the anecdote (and say those words) both of us slowly shrank below the blocking screen of leaves.

Dinosaur · 17/01/2006 16:43

The correct meaning of enormity was also explained to me in a first-year tutorial but not, thank God, illustrated with such a witty anecdote.
