apparently by deleting Milly's messages her family still had some hope that she might still be alive

just listening to Yates in the bbc news online.....did he say that the new investigation was under a new command structure and was dependent on the information that NI gave them? Is that it....they investigate just what NI wants them to see? For crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sayanything · 12/07/2011 12:34

Apologies if anyone has posted this already, but here is the Daily Show's take on the issue.

noddyholder · 12/07/2011 12:38

BornSicky · 12/07/2011 12:39

on a serious note - bkgirl hope you heard that wrong re what the police are looking at! otherwise wtf is the point?!

sayanything · 12/07/2011 12:45

Jon Stewart for Master of the Universe.

noddyholder · 12/07/2011 12:45

Twitter saying The Sun got the info on GBs son from a member of the Brown family themselves. OMG!

BornSicky · 12/07/2011 12:45

sorry, i gave yates an extra 'e'. must have stolen it from peter clarke

sayanything · 12/07/2011 12:46

Agree teej, bkgirl - what a farce if what you say is true.

KatieMumsnet · 12/07/2011 12:51

Just wanted to say belated thanks for the feedback on Politics show. Once the nerves and feelings of sickness subsided, was almost fun.... Grin

CornedBeef · 12/07/2011 12:53

Jon Stewart..

sorry Grin

BornSicky · 12/07/2011 12:55

that daily show excerpt is brilliant!

OhBuggerandArse · 12/07/2011 12:57

Noddy, would that mean that a member of the family had blabbed, though? Or just that they would be less prepared against harrassment calls etc. Suppose they could have been hacked?

Hope that doesn't diminish the impact too much.

noddyholder · 12/07/2011 12:58

Well the Sun are saying they were given the info and didn't pay for it from a member of the family so who knows?

bkgirl · 12/07/2011 13:00

Sorry, at this stage I believe nothing the Sun or anything else NI tells us. I want untampered evidence which the police have had unhindered access to in it's full state (not selected by NI for NI)

Ponders · 12/07/2011 13:01

noddy, I saw that, but part of the supposed evidence was the fact that the Sun story included the birth announcement card (as if those would only have been sent to immediate family - I think not!)

The Sun had better name their source, hadn't they Hmm

chipstick10 · 12/07/2011 13:01

The Torys cosying up, lab too scared not to. Yes we had the same thought process from Andrew Marr when interviewing desperate Ed on sunday. Why am i not surprised!!!!!! I am assuming Sarah was too terrified to say no to a sleepover with Rebekah or to organizing her party or attending her wedding. The tories however, well they wernt scared, just bent.

teej · 12/07/2011 13:05

Noddy - it's also about how they treated GB/SB once they had that info, though. Even if they came by it through fair means not foul they steamrolled a family into going public with the diagnosis for FB before they had come to terms with it themselves. As evidenced by the reaction of posters like Peachy (and myself to an extent) who have been through this type of thing that is unacceptable. How GB and SB interacted with RB thereafter you can argue, but fundamentally that incident was completely foul and the Browns were left with nowhere to turn.

www.nytimes.com/2011/07/13/world/europe/13hacking.html?_r=3&pagewanted=3&hp

NOTW had the police working for them to find people's whereabouts by "pinging" phone location.....only the police allowed to do this. Read page 2 too - my guess this anonymous editor is now well known celeb....

noddyholder · 12/07/2011 13:16

I agree that part of it is awful -if true. How they interacted afterwards though would have been different surely if they knew the info had been obtained illegally. They will have to name the source ponders that seems clear.

ThisIsANiceCage · 12/07/2011 13:17

You were fab, Katie. Grin
