I know there are threads flying about all over the place re; the strike, but this is purely to register support - it would be great if we could keep it going until midnight on Thursday ( 30th June )

you don't have to say anything - just smile, like this Smile

Thank you all - a lovely thread.

I am striking as I am in the NUT but I felt awful about it - Gove's insulting comments at the weekend made me decide I was doing the right thing.

Trawling through all the teacher-bashing threads tonight made me feel thoroughly depressed, but this one has lifted my spirits.

Dh is a teacher and I'm not allowed to mention the Gove's name in our house! He's not striking as he's not in the NUT but supports those that are.

Smile my youngest 2 haven't started school yet...when they do I want them to be taught by motivated, enthusiastic teachers (as my oldest has been so lucky to have been so far). If teachers are continually kicked in the balls how can they continue to do such a fantabulous job.

As DS said 'that's like saying I can have a stop up and then not letting me cos you're too tired, it's naughty to promise people things and then not give them isn't it?' Grin

Support here - what sort of example would they be setting their pupils by not defending themselves and fellow workers ?

Teacher here (NASUWT, so not striking....yet). Sick of the other threads. If all the moaners out there were part of a union, and were having their pensions cut, would they just accept it with no argument? I very much doubt it!
And what will a huge number of teachers be doing on their unpaid-strike day? Most likely sorting out stuff for school the following day! We are such an uncommitted lot!

Not a teacher. But my mother and grandfather were.

I support the strike. :)
