here

that story has the hairs on my neck stood on end, and a lump in my throat, what an absolutely amazing story, well done that man.

It's completely incredible.

GailFawkes · 02/11/2010 16:44

Wow! How amazing!

There was recently a similar story about a little boy being caught by a shop keeper when he fell from an escalator in Turkey (I think).

onepieceoflollipop · 02/11/2010 16:44

Yes, lucky baby but unfortunately it could have been prevented in the first place. (baby and 4 year old child were home alone I gather)

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 16:46

omg!!!

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 02/11/2010 16:47

"Playing unsupervised" isn't necessarily the same as "home alone".

onepieceoflollipop · 02/11/2010 16:49

That's true OldLady but surely if the parent (s) were around in the apartment/home then they could have given the police a bit more of an idea of what had happened?

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 16:50

true OLDKN

but

"The police spokesman said the circumstances behind the accident were unclear. "The parents were absent, and it's a bit difficult questioning the two girls, given their age.""

onepieceoflollipop · 02/11/2010 16:51

"the parents were absent". If the parents were in another room I think they would have reported that the parents were "in the bathroom/kitchen" or wherever rather than "absent"

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 02/11/2010 16:51

Not if they weren't in the same room. (I'm thinking only one parent in the flat, and s/he's cooking a meal in the kitchen, while the girls played in the living room?)

onepieceoflollipop · 02/11/2010 16:52

x-post MaMo

Anyway, thankfully the baby did not come to physical harm.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 02/11/2010 16:52

Yes, at least the child is safe. :)

booyhoo · 02/11/2010 16:52

jesus, where the hell where the parents? it said they were absent
great reaction from the man. well done.

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 16:53

it's a bit difficult questioning the two girls.....

presumably if the parents had been in the kitchen then when the police arrived on the scene they would have been able to tell them "I was in the kitchen/doing a shit/washing my hair" no??

winnybella · 02/11/2010 16:53

Oh, I started a thread about it as well!

Just had a look at Le Parisien and apparently it was a 14 mo boy. It was the older man who alerted his son who then caught the baby. He was a doctor!

Parents left the children alone in the room for few moments. They have been arrested for child neglect.

onepieceoflollipop · 02/11/2010 16:53

On another thread in Chat someone said that the parents were in another room. So it is a bit unclear.

onepieceoflollipop · 02/11/2010 16:54

I'm xposting with everyone at the moment. :)

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 16:56

BBC says 18 month old girl Confused

and no mention of the parents anywhere in their article (as yet)

winnybella · 02/11/2010 16:57

Ah, but I am in Paris so get the right sources of information Wink

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 16:58

\link{http://www.leparisien.fr/actualites-informations-direct-videos-parisien\I can't speak French) but it says 18 month old there too

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 16:58

\link{http://www.leparisien.fr/actualites-informations-direct-videos-parisien\try again}

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 02/11/2010 16:59

So this story says a girl, caught by a man alerted by his son, but another story says a boy caught by a young man after his father alerted him? How many babies fall out of Parisien windows in any given week?

winnybella · 02/11/2010 16:59

No, they have rectified it- it was 14 mo boy.

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 17:00

ahh - so they're a bit slow on the old updating of details Wink

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 17:02

ahh that's the same website - one page says 14 months, the other says 18 months (same news source)

I wish I could speak french Grin
