your link won't work for me btw - but I'm presuming it's the front page bit on the webiste

winnybella · 02/11/2010 17:04

They say it was 14 mo boy and not 18 mo girl as it's been reported earlier by the witnesses.

Anyway, what an amazingly lucky girl. I mean, horrible thing to happen and the parents are in trouble, but still.

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 17:05

see I'm confused (I feel we can debate on the minor details given that she is thnkafully ok) as the police statement thing (in English) says they couldn't speak to the girls because of their age

winnybella · 02/11/2010 17:05

Works for me- weird. Maybe you need to scroll down a bit?

BikeRun40NextWeek · 02/11/2010 17:06

The true meaning of "absent" (from room/flat) may have been lost in translation.

MaMoTTaT · 02/11/2010 17:06

no - wouldn't load at all - just coming up error - have found the article on the website though where it says something about 14 and not 18 (thank f*ck for numbers written as numbers)

winnybella · 02/11/2010 17:07

Yeah, that's strange. Someone messed up somewhere along the way, I guess. But I would think now the baby's identity is established so less chance for Le Parisien getting it wrong iyswim.

winnybella · 02/11/2010 17:10

Oh, and sorry, they were left alone for a few moments in the flat- not in the room.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 02/11/2010 17:18

Well, obviously it's not acceptable to leave such young children alone in a flat. :(

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 02/11/2010 18:12

Not only is it not on to leave children that age home alone, i honestly would not leave them alone in a room with windows open/not lockable, in a flat. Even in a normal two storey house we have windows locks and safety catches upstairs. it is like leaving them with an open fire, or sharp knife - a massive risk

girl or boy, 14 or 18 months, parents at fault or not - what an amazing amazing catch - this news item has made an otherwise bad day somewhat brighter, and its not even a child who I know!

Several reputable media (Belfast Telegraph, Aussie Herald, The Press Association) outlets are reporting that both parents had gone out for a stroll.
