Grazia front page this week,
Here
I'm sure there are many things that could be discussed about this front page, but for me it's the bra sizing. I have no idea who she is or what Mad men is, so I really am just talking about the inaccurate bra size.
Celebrities clothing/bra sizes and weight are regularly guessed by the media. All of this unhealthy for our body image. Bra sizing is always all over the place and a poor fitting bra has been linked as a possible link to breast cancer, and generally bad for your health. So isn't it important that these things are vaguely right? A size 14 body should be wearing a 34 approx, and no way are those norks an E cup, you're going H cup upwards there.
I regularly see I'll fitting bras on models, headlines such as this, why bother? Why guess the size rather than put nothing? Why put a model in the wrong size? Obviously I can't find examples now, but I often see models wearing bras that have a huge gap between their flesh and the band, with cups that are then to small.
It's just plain lazy, surly Grazia has a lot of women working there, are they wearing ill fitting bras?

Somone with breasts that size can't fit in a size 14 top surely?

msrisotto · 08/09/2010 21:25

Oh its complete bollocks isn't it!

BelligerentGhoul · 08/09/2010 21:26

There is no way in the world those norks are an E cup! My Es are positively clemetine-like in comparison!

BelligerentGhoul · 08/09/2010 21:26

clementine Blush

msrisotto · 08/09/2010 21:27

*it's - sorry

drosophila · 08/09/2010 21:32

Hmmm. It could be clever push up combined with those extra pounds the camera puts on?

Are ill fittign bras really linked to cancer.

I must admit it's one of the first things I do in th eevening - take off my bra.

Sidge · 08/09/2010 21:33

A size 14 should be wearing a 34?

You're having a laugh.

That would mean the ribcage measuring about 29 inches; in most stores a size 14 has a 30-31 inch waist.

detoxdiva · 08/09/2010 21:49

Well I'm a size 12 with 34f boobs - no way is she an E cup.

Tippychoocks · 08/09/2010 21:54

I love the way they always fail to understand that the 38 inch part is nowt to do with the norkage - these estimates always seem to up the ribcage measurement in accordance with the boobs so a size 8-10 Jordan type is quoted as having 38F stats.

OmicronPersei8 · 08/09/2010 21:56

As soon as I saw the thread title I thought 'wrong bra size'.

OmicronPersei8 · 08/09/2010 21:59

I'd say an H-cup too.

TheCrackFox · 08/09/2010 21:59

Are they real?

TBH they just pluck these figures out of the air.

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 08/09/2010 22:00

Sidge - a a size 14 should be wearing about a 34, which is a measurement of +/- 34. The measurement standard was changed years ago...

Someone with a measurement of 29 would wear a 30.

suwoo · 08/09/2010 22:00

I had a reduction at a 28J, so know about big boobs and correct fitting bras. I'd put her at a 32H. Ish.

LadyBiscuit · 08/09/2010 22:04

Bollocks should a size 14 be wearing a 34 inch bra. I'm a 12/14 (but very curvy) and I wear a 38DD bra. My waist is a size 10.

I get my bras from Rigby and Peller and they are not remotely ill-fitting.

When I was a size 14 I wore a 34, in all brands I ever tried. And I know I was properly fitted.

suwoo · 08/09/2010 22:11

I was a 14 and still in a 32 back. Am a 28 when at my thinnest.

llareggub · 08/09/2010 22:18

Is she an American 14 or a British 14? There is a difference, isn't there? Anyway, I'm a 14 and 34H, so the size 14 = 34 back makes sense for me. I used to be a size 20 and then I was a 40G, so there is some logic in it.

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 08/09/2010 22:21

Yeah, we women do vary a lot Grin

I measured a 36 at a 16 and am a 32 at a 10, but I need the band to be properly tight so wear a size smaller band than I measure (and a cup bigger too, obviously).

LadyBiscuit · 08/09/2010 22:23

I have a massive ribcage though. Even when I was a size 10 all over, I was still a size 34.

Valpollicella · 08/09/2010 22:23

Im a size 8-10 and 34DD according to Rigby and Peller bra-ologists....?

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 08/09/2010 22:23

Gah, meant to say, I wear the size I measure I get the band-riding-up-the-back thing that classically indicates a band that's too big. 'tis the sheer weight of totally non self supporting norkage...

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 08/09/2010 22:24

FFS

...if I...

Must go to bed
