IF you have washing on the line and it rains do you rewash?

I ask as I watch the rain pour down on the washing I put out a little while ago. (kind hoping it'll pass off in a short while!)

For the record I won't rewash.

Why would you rewash?

No. Though today's rain was filthy...big grey streaks on the windows. So under those circumstances I might.

DramaInPyjamas · 25/04/2010 15:48

If it's spitting and I get the clothes in before the rain gets any heavier, then I don't rewash.
If it's pouring and been on the line a while, it gets rewashed.

BlackYellowRed · 25/04/2010 15:49

Same as DramaInPyjamas.

Southwestwhippet · 25/04/2010 15:50

I just watched the same thing. Especially annoying as it was a entire line of fiddly baby things that had taken at least 20mins to hang.

Rain has passed now - hopefully it will get the chance to dry before evening.

Unfortunately, if it's heavy rain I will usually have no choice but to re-wash. Our garden is tiny and the lawn is in a horrible state. If it rains heavily, the washing tends to get splashed with muck and grass and things.

Not being anal retentive about it, but usually I have to re-wash.

Buddleja · 25/04/2010 15:54

Stupid shower isn't passing off. I suppose it's not strictly speaking a shower now.

Darn it.

No, I just leave it out till it dries - even if it takes weeks! But I have very low domestic standards,
.

Alouiseg · 25/04/2010 15:59

Not usually, i just leave it till it dries out but we get so little rain here it doesn't matter.

ln1981 · 25/04/2010 16:05

just leave it out-too much faffing. bring it in at tea time regardless. dont re-wash it either, cant be arsed with that.

RacingSnake · 25/04/2010 22:11

Why on earth would you?? I leave it on the line - often until I finally remember where a vital item of clothing is!

Mooos · 26/04/2010 09:26

Rinse and spin - not wash (unless it's been out for ages)

nickytwotimes · 26/04/2010 09:28

No, unless been out for hours in it and then I would rinse and spin.

expatinscotland · 26/04/2010 09:29

No.

Spin and then rehang, when we had a garden and I could peg out the wash.

The air is cleaner up here and the rain smells good.

MamaMtundu · 26/04/2010 09:35

no i never would usually, but today I would probably go google the met office, govt health advice sites etc and check current volcanic ash situation as the rain may bring ash down if there is lots still above you, or so I understand. If so then I'd prob re-wash

plantsitter · 26/04/2010 09:37

No! It goes lovely and soft when it's been rained on.

zippy79 · 26/04/2010 16:13

I would only re wash whites if this happened

I would redo things that looked dirty again due to dirty rain, if that makes sense? Otherwise no.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 26/04/2010 16:18

only if it gets rained on more than three times, or has been hanging out for a few days coz it keeps getting rained on

elliepac · 26/04/2010 16:21

definitely not, mine is still on the line from yesterday. Went out with it on the line and beautifully sunny, it rained then stopped. Left it out to dry, it rained again. Been dry today, so should be dry now.

bibbitybobbityhat · 26/04/2010 16:22

This happened to me yesterday. I put it all back in the machine and did the full rinse programme with fabric conditioner, but not a full re-wash.

I keep thinking about volcanic ash in the rain.

Eglu · 26/04/2010 16:25

Dramasinpyjamas can I ask why you rewash. As a person who doesn't
