How often is your heating on and at what temp?

I'm in constant battle with DH with the amount of time the heating is on in our house (and what the temp it's at!!)

Wondering what the norm is? Currently I have it coming on a 6.30 (we're up at 7) and off again at 8. Then on again at 5 and off at 10.

It's thermostatically controlled so isn't even on at those times. DH is forever turning in ton (and it 'on' not on the timer) and ramping up the temp - because apparently putting on a jumper doesn't make you warmer (?) I've downstairs set at 20C and upstairs set at 18C (which I think is quiet warm!)

Fascinating the variation that people have. Ours used to be on 18 degrees, going to 17 at night, but DD is only 3 weeks old, so it's on 19 and 18 at night. If I get cold, I put an extra jumper on.

Normally ours is on from 6-7.00 am and 6-8.30pm. Longer at the moment because it is so cold and we are stuck at home all day.

Have it set at 20 degrees which is a bit too warm downstairs but has to be at that level to get the dcs' bedroom above 16 degrees (they've got a very cold room).

mine comes on at 6.30am until 9am at 19 degrees.

then again at 3.30 pm till 10.00pm again at 19. it goes down to 16 at night but it never ever gets that cold so its off all night. this is a really warm house.

has been on all day today, i keep it at 21 as that is when it kicks in. DP would like to have it on all night and he regularly has it at 30 I am currently in the midst of a thermostat war with him too as my side of the bed is 6" away from the radiator and wake up boiling hot and wanting to kill him at 4am....never mind a crying baby, i get woken up by heat. Having said that he comes from Ecuador so says he needs the heat, I on the other hand keep pointing it out that he should wear socks and proper trousers then if he's so bloody cold instead of nylon cut off shorts....bah!!!

Mine is on 6am til 8pm - once the DC are in bed I just stick an extra jumper on.
Thermostat set at 17

We live at a constant 22°/23° all winter - the heating is on all the time because we live in an apartment block with communal heating.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/12/2009 19:51

We have storage heaters (bah!) so a bit different. I currently have the downstairs ones on, but not upstairs as find the heat from below is enough. Also I like it to be pretty cool for sleeping.

It's usually about 22/23 degrees in the living room first thing in the morning, falling to about 18/19 in the evenings.

GetOrfMoiLand · 21/12/2009 19:51

God knows what temp as it is not thermostatically controlled. However when everyone is at work/school have it comes on at 4.30 and goes off at 7.30 (I am out the house at 6, it then comes on from 3.30 and is on all night until 10. The radiators are off in my bedroom as I like a cold bedroom, but all other rooms are toasty.

Now that school/work has broken up the heating is on all day and goes off when we got to bed.

Bloody hell, can't believe how hot some of you have it. Must cost a BOMB.

We are all electric now and it is storage heaters so on all the time at a medium setting.

Our previous house was gch and on for 2 hrs in the morning and about 4 in the evening at 17-18 degrees. It was FREEZING int eh daytime, but couldn't afford to put it on more frequently.
