Everyone welcome, newcomers and old(ish) flappers alike!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone
  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

As Christmas is approaching I will also be posting Christmas missions.

I'll post links early in the morning on the relevant day while I'm making the coffee and brewing tea. There might even be toast...

Good luck!

Morning ladies!
Er, you know i said we hadn't had a flake of snow and I had been rushing round like a madwoman?
Well we woke up to 5 inches ! I know because we measured it(not OCD honest just a long standing family joke about my ability to exaggerate!
So...the outcome...is 3 teenagers off school not a single glove in sight, an assortment of very odd vaguely waterproof clothing and DS1 sitting on DDs bed, gold thread in hand sewing up some old waterproof trousers - I kid you not! (They have left their coats at school where they will reside until next term - handy!)Also said teenagers are up and out already at the local 'slopes' and I will see neither hide nor hair of them until it gets dark!!DH has marched off to the station where he managed to get a train but God knows whether he will get back again!
I am supposed to be having a houseful tonight(about 40 -eek!) and have to try to venture out to collect glasses. Might just borrow from my lovely neighbours!

Today - all plans made previously are cancelled until I have dug out a car.

It is absolutely beautiful though, especially looking out at the snow through the lit branches of the tree. Ah!

Carols, hotspotting as the DC dump stuff, ironing, baking, coffee with neighbours, sledging and snowballs for me!

Enjoy the snow if you have it and if not do what you need to do - quick!

Morning All

Well I survived the trip to Sainbury's although I have to admit to abit of 'sneakiness', DM was in fine form and took all of 10 seconds to mention super perfect sil so when we got to Sainburys I told her my ankle (which is actually much better) was bothering me so I'd sit in the car for abit and catch her up in half an hour, as soon as she was gone I nipped into the ex catalogue shop next door and procrastinated over the handbags for as long as I could manage before I started to look like a suspicious potential shoplifter. I caught up with her at the checkout so all in all not too traumatic

Pluto & Mellie I am exactly the same with the presents of the dc's, I tried to set a budget this year but I keep seeing things and thinking 'ooo Ds1/Ds2 would like that' and I just can't resist. Did it yesterday in the catalogue shop, picked up a big box of Postman pat stickers for Ds2 but they were reduced to 50p so too much of a bargain to ignore .

Pluto Sympathies with your toothache, have you tried oil of cloves? tastes disgusting but works a treat.

Optimistletoemumma it stinks been the 'not quite good enough child' doesn't it? I was cursed blessed with an overacheiving brother who married an superwoman and managed to produce what I couldn't - a Grandaughter. I am resigned to the fact I can't change her but I can ignore her!

to anyone who has snow, we have none, not a flake, it is just absolutely freezing cold, -2 according to the school weather station.

Probably wont get much done today, school is finishing early and have last fair of the season tomorrow, thanks for all your lovely comments on my work , so need to make a couple of bits and wash my tablecloths.

Waves at everyone and sending everyone some to have for elenvenses and will leave you with a 'fridge magnet saying ;
Cleaning the house while kids are growing is like shovelling snow while it's still snowing

MrsDingDongMerrily · 18/12/2009 09:41

Morning all,
We've got about 3 inches of snow here and it is coming down thick and fast again. Walked DS (year 1) to school, he got into a great snowball fight with the year 6's and really held his own, thoroughly enjoyed that.

Today's list

Make DS packed lunch - done
Scrape all the snow off DH's car while he enjoys a warm bowl of porridge with DD - done (gritted teeth)
Clear breakfast dishes that DH and DD kindly just left on the table for me
S+S - not done due to above
General tidying - hotspots in bedroom are burning out of control
Hoovering
Will do baking with DS after school I think, 1 o'clock finish today
Go to nursery at 3 for a little tea party as it is DD's last day

PositivelyFestive · 18/12/2009 09:44

Morning all,

A little smattering of white stuff here.

I came in to work at 7am and walked in as i do not like skidding driving on ice! My office thermometer was on 3 degrees when I walked in this morning. My fridge at home is set for 4degrees, so it would have been warmer to have done work in my fridge!
DH says it is illegal and I should go home! So just a quick note on here and all my work is done and I am off to slide all the way home again. My feet need to de-frost before I can walk home.

Today I plan on doing a mammoth hoover through the house and some washing. Also need to pack 3x DCs for weekend away. Works Christmas dooooo tonight for me, so some beauty preparations needed. - ie: long HOT soak in bath, or HOT shower in new room, and get DD3 to sort my wild mop hair out into some resemblance of how the hairdresser did it on Wednesday! Now, what shall I wear????

OM Good luck with your housefull tonight. Not too much mulled wine before hand.

Have a good day everyone.

optimistletoemumma · 18/12/2009 12:01

MrsGG am loving the fridge magnet quote as I have just shovelled half a ton of snow but luckily it has stopped for now!!

My lovely neighbour who has 4 wheeled drive has offered to take me round to Tesco to get the glasses for tonight so that's that solved.

So far I have:
shovelled snow
sorted out various clothes for DC
drunk tea with my lovely neighours and their DC who turned up in their PJs dressing gowns, santa hats and oven gloves this morning at some unearthly hour! They couldn't wait to get out in the snow!
made a coffee!!

I should really do something more productive!

mummyclaus · 18/12/2009 12:31

Made it to lunchtime. DH just gone to work.

No snow here but REALLY COLD not a sad face, just a cold one . Not looking forward to walking to school to pick DS up - or walking home with him afterwards. Thankfully we were able to go in the car this morning.

So far today
drunk coffee
eaten toast
taken DS to school (yum)
been shopping twice
found DH's P60 & P45 so he can get paid properly (first pay of new job)
pulled all presents out of spare room into our room (had to so I could find P45/60)

This afternoon
wrapping while watching DVD
pick up DS
dinner
ironing
usual s&s/shining sink-type stuff

See you later

MiniMincemeat · 18/12/2009 13:32

Afternoon All

Phew, what a morning! I haven't really done anything except take DS to the library in the snow. He was in super-cheeky (and cute) mode and decided to charge around the library which didn't go down to well! I think he's finally asleep thougho so time for MN present wrapping and pannacotta making. Oh, and I must s&s as I didn't get to that this morning in the general chaos!

I must find the tree decorations too as we've got our neighbours' send off tomorrow evening. Maybe I'll just make those lovely biscuits PF linked to and buy a strand or two of tinsel and then I won't have to find the decorations!

Looks like lots of us have snow, sorry none for you MC and MrsG - I think there is meant to be more tonight though.

Glad you got to play out in the snow SC and that DH managed to eat something...sounds like you've had a tough couple of weeks and snow is usually good for lifting the spirits I find. Talking of which, thanks for thinking of me, - I think I'll be ok when Christmas comes I think I'm just struggling with a couple pregnancy announcements from my antenatal group. I'm really pleased for them of course but it just reminds me. With any luck it will be me again soon.

I always want to say hello to everyone individually but I know I'll miss a few (someone said there are 18 of us now, wow) so festive biscuits all round and have a good afternoon.

Plutothatpresentdown · 18/12/2009 14:01

DS1 and DH at home as their schools are both shut due to snow. There were really heavy falls here last night. Our little house becomes completely chaotic when we are all home - we just don't fit into it. There are soggy gloves and trousers drying on towel rails and banisters everywhere. What a mess.

DH had a do last night and it took him 3 hours to drive what is normally a 40 minute journey - so he's in bed now. When he wakes I'm dragging them all up the park for some festive photos as long as DS2's pram can cope in the 20cm thick snow. It should be able to - it's a Swedish one!

Now here's my to do list:

mop kitchen floor
load w/m
cobble together something for tea
tidy living room
control journal with meeting dates for term 3 / sort minders out for back to work evening clashes with DH

Waving to you all from the blizzards

MellieChristmas · 18/12/2009 15:05

afternoon everyone (keyboard still a little random on the capitals

have just finished christmas shopping(thank the lord) in the snow! We haven't got inches like the rest of you but we keep having showers which are settling, oh how i wish i'd done it earlier. Feet like ice blocks and hands just warming up nicely round a big mug of hot chocolate.

After saying on here I wasn't getting DS anything more (am not leaving DD out but she is only 1 so am getting away with relative cheapness while i can), have been and bought him several more 'bits' this afternoon. i now feel i own everything that mr ben 10 has on the market. have also managed to purchase stocking fillers (since when did getting the stocking become almost as expensive as the main presents ) and all my other presents apart from dsil who wants a tesco voucher so that can wait till the 'big' food shop on wednesday.

Flying wise have:-

dwon
wm on
general tidy
top-up food shop
tidied/cleaned ds room
written christmas cards

Haven't got time to mention everyone as must go unpack car before dc's get home but mrsgruffalo love that fridge magnet saying

om hope your party goes well tonight.

MiniMincemeat · 18/12/2009 15:09

Right, so, latest advice...don't try to make panna cotta at the same time as cooking the evening meal...

'nuf said!

SantasBigboots · 18/12/2009 15:17

No snow here but absolutely freezing!!!

Have a horrible cold, but hoping it will be a short, sharp one and all over by Sunday when DS's have an Xmas party (to include grown up food too!)

DH has been lovely and after being Father Christmas for playgroup this morning, has gone to pick DS's up from school, pick up something quick and easy for dinner and has also said he will take DS's to panto rehearsal tonight

I have cleaned out the guineas but the house has regressed into it's preferred chaotic state and I still have not tackled anything on my list.

Big warming waves to everyone

swanriver · 18/12/2009 16:16

I can't really add anything

snow
telly
knitting emergency present
dcs back from school
surprisingly well-stocked on food front
burnt saltdough decs but a bit of glitter [rubs hands]will cure that, anyone no-one is going to TASTE them are they?

can't seem to stop myself putting laundry in, howeverr I try to resist
Pampering is yet to set in.

swanriver · 18/12/2009 16:19

Optimistletoe- party sounds great! It will be like a posh ski-ing chalet party with tales of black runs etc
papercups at the worst?

optimistletoemumma · 18/12/2009 17:23

more like Abigail's party at this rate

MrsDingDongMerrily · 18/12/2009 18:50

Meant to say, the thing that I ordered on impulse for DCs last night was these
www.amazinghealth.co.uk/rice-filled-heated-teddies.htm

Just the thing for this weather, they have been sharing a microwaveable cushion of mine (a lavender one) these last few days, so I ordered these last night, got a note saying they had been despatched 1st class today, so fingers crossed.

DH is out tonight so I will get more time on the computer to do a proper catch up later.

OM hope the party goes well.

DidSantasMum · 18/12/2009 18:54

Finshed with school for the term. Need to sort the paperwork and tidy everywhere but it is a nice feeling. Have a psycho child running about. if we could turn his excitement into elecrical current i would be about to power most of the country off him right now. Dsis is babysitting tonight (which is part of the cause for the excitement) and i am going out. Will deal with life when i get back. Using tonight to do some training/having fun so will feel suitably healthy and high when i get back so will trackle a long to do list before bed knowing full well there will be a lie in tomo. And even if ds gets up early it will be his poor aunt that will be jumped on til she crawls out of bed. My sis is fantastic, and such a great sport. Having a bit of christmas tomo as ds goes away on sunday so will have a few days of peace before i join him for the general chaos that is excited child for christmas. My ss liked their gift though not sure if they realise tis homemade. But very pleased it was liked. I finally opened mine and am awash with glitter but forgiving the mess as it was well thought out and made me smile just when i needed it the other night.

Right will be back at some point to catch up on everyone's gossip and report some proper flying hopefully. Have a lovely friday night/weekend all

mummyclaus · 19/12/2009 08:42

Good morning. V cold here although still no snow.
Managed nearly all of the wrapping yesterday -yes MC was (w)rapping

Today (when I wake up properly) I'm going through each room having a tidy and doing Home Blessing on the way.

Babystep is a catch-up one

Enjoy your day!

mummyclaus · 19/12/2009 08:44

DidSantasMum · 19/12/2009 08:48

MellieChristmas · 19/12/2009 09:03

SantasBigboots · 19/12/2009 09:19

Mop kitchen floor (dog emptied bin all over it last night)
Do online banking (slightly obsessive about this)
Marzipan Xmas cake

MiniMincemeat · 19/12/2009 09:45

Morning All

Lovely and sunny here

Going to have to write a list as lots to do and I seem to have mysteriously acquired a hangover despite only drinking 2 small glasses of wine .

  • Clean bathrooms
  • vacuum rugs
  • sweep and wash wooden floors
  • make bread
  • finish making pannacotta
  • make lunch
  • clean kitchen and wash floor
  • still need to find tree decs
  • set table, arrange flowers etc
  • make party meal
  • find something suitable to wear

Luckily DH and DS are going out for the morning so that gives me a bit of time.

Oh dear, I feel really disorganised...I'm sure it will all come good in the end!

Have a great day all.

swanriver · 19/12/2009 12:28

Mini-mincemeat - I have a hangover WITHOUT drinking any wine. I think it is called morning.

Good luck with your pannacotta, and the party.

Today
I need to
Post a present with one child in tow
write about ten more cards then all cards done [yippee]
buy more stamps [disorganised]
put up tree with family (tree bought and decs out but just need a hatchet and some man-power]
keep house tidy as I have just about vanquished the piles
Go to local Xmas market for fun with one or two children with no specific goal other than enjoyment!

Have a good day everyone, I tidied till 1am last night, and it is [almost]worth it.

PositivelyFestive · 19/12/2009 13:06

Afternoon everyone. All very quiet on here last night for a change. Was everyone partying. I had one of my works Christmas do, which was great fun. One of the perks of having 3 small jobs is that I get to have more than the average number of Christmas meals each year. 3 over the past 10 days ? not bad going and not including DH work meal that was the week before!

Swanriver ? Dare I mention that the ?morning? hangover was written in the afternoon, so I think you could be a little worse than you think!

MM ? An impressive list yet again. Good luck and have a fantastic time with your special friends and neighbours.

SBB ? of the snow. Never get it here, either. Had a little dusting yesterday, but soon melted away. I am going to be writing a few cards in a minute, so hopefully last post has not gone yet. I am sure they tell you earlier than it is just to panic you anyway, so will just post and hope for the best.

Mellie- You have presents to wrap? Well done.

MC ? Your (w)rapping is marvellous. Well done

DSM ? Another impressive list! Enjoy your festive day today.

OM ? Are you recovering this morning? How did the party go?

Plan for this afternoon is to write out some Christmas cards and go for a walk to deliver them.
Hoover ? never did get around to that a few days ago
May make a few festive sweets for presents this afternoon
Relax and chill out as I feel like the headless chicken feeling is in danger of taking over yet again!

That looks a really pathetic list, but I can?t be bothered to put all the other ?normal? stuff down today.

Special big waves to SC and WTD and a hi to everyone else on here.

Enjoy your weekend!

Sleepisnotoptional · 19/12/2009 22:19
