well done with that list Star.

MC I didn't do a party for DS until he was 5 (and had been at school for a year).

Hope poorly people feel better soon.

I am shattered as DD up all night coughing, felt very guilty taking her to school (though she seemed to want to go). I know she'll be feeling tired by now (as indeed am I). But can't take time off work.

Today:
Lidl
laundry
bath
glass of wine
I'm a cleb - get me out of here
early night

seems managable.

swanriver · 20/11/2009 12:58

Tackled fractions again - luckily I am so bad at maths it helps
And 2 pages of literacy workbook
and tried your Bitesize Simply (great success only problem he then becomes computer crzed)

it is so hard to ask for help isn'tit - I find it v.diff to ask people for favours. And end up always asking same kind people who are already overloaded.
It's lovely you can help your friend TM, it is never wasted.
Scatty - sure she will feel better at school, sometimes lying down IS the cough factor.

swanriver · 20/11/2009 13:02

Star luckily haven't lost any certificates recently - just sympathizing with MC
Hair-do does sound a treat.

Starbear · 20/11/2009 13:18

Ops! Swan Yer! Sis will dye it this week & next week before the Battersea Ball I'll get my hair cut & glamed up. Discussed with DH that I should wear a new dress and he,quite rightly pointed out, who is going to remember last years dress. I don't want to buy a new dress as I plan to lose some weight Ha!Ha! I would rather spend the money on every day clothes. (is that odd!)
Right off to re-load W/M

Hello again all.

I'm feeling pleased with myself as I've mopped the floor in the kitchen, utility room and downstairs loo. As most people coming into the house do so via the back door and the utility room and kitchen, it's the first impressions area really.

Starbear I haven't tried on my newest best dress (I buy one every 3 or more years) as I've put on weight recently and I'm sure it won't fit me as it did in mid Sept. I don't know what I'm going to wear to the MN meet-up in London. Oooops!

swan I'm glad to hear the Bitesize website was useful even if it did then make your ds computer crazed!

scatty I hope you and your dd survive the day and get a good night tonight. Do you have any children's cough expectorant or bronchial balsam that your dd can safety take?

TM You're okay so far but start mentioning that Mini has been up the chimney and I'm going to make a phone call!

Right. The w/m has just finished and there are blue skies visible outside so I'm going to risk putting it all out on the line. Back later.

swanriver · 20/11/2009 13:48

What is last year's dress like Star?
I think your dh is right. My dh's memory is like a sieve anyway - so he would think it WAS new.

Have done lots of paperwork

Fruitysunshine · 20/11/2009 13:49

Has anyone printed off the Holiday Control Journal from Flylady?

I am finding it really useful after having lost control over recent months!

swanriver · 20/11/2009 13:55

Now Star, (and anyone else) this is a bit cheeky but would you like to do a 2 kilo (Ilb a week) weight loss challenge with me?
I have bought some scales. I am on 77 kilos at 5ft 10" so would like to get back to 75 kilos (well lower still would be better but not sure that's going to happen)

Fruitysunshine · 20/11/2009 13:58

swanriver - I am returning to Slimming World on Tuesday evening....I could?

Starbear · 20/11/2009 14:17

Oh! Simply It's next week is it? What are you going to do?

Swan The dress is actual 3 years old but no one at work saw it before.
Yes,Yes, Yes re weight lose. I'm roughly the same weight but shorter! We'll just add it to the 'to do list' or should we start a new thread???
Hello Fruitysunshine I'm crap at slimming clubs wish I wasn't. but if I copy some of your tips
TM going up chimneys is character building.
I read in a woman's magazine once of a woman who had such a blissful childhood she just thought life would just get better & better. When it didn't she couldn't cope. Food for thought people.

Fruitsunshine Love that name. Yes, I have, it has given me some ideas e.g I have already brought DH present but I haven't been able to keep up. Better off though than I would have been.
Plumbers been & gone I'm out for some fresh London air ha ha

Simply · 20/11/2009 14:24

Fruitysunshine No, I haven't printed off the Holiday Control Journal. I don't think I've even seen it. I'll have a look sometime.

swan I've just weighed myself on my ancient scales and I'm 12 stone (76 kg). I'm 5ft 7" I think. I'm normally 10 to 10 and a half stone but my tablets have made my weight go up steadily. I'm not sure if I can do anything about my weight therefore. I'll see the doc in a week or so and I hope there might be room to change things a bit but keeping well is my main priority so I might just have to live with gaining 2 dress sizes! Healthier eating wouldn't go amiss, though.

Simply · 20/11/2009 14:27

Starbear I think I'd better go and try on some clothes in my wardrobe. I think I may have a pair of size 16 black trousers.

OverflowingFestiveMum · 20/11/2009 14:29

afternoon all....
...breathes sigh of relief....
guests have gone out for the afternoon to Meadowhall(heaven help them...but being from a smallish town in Ireland they get quite excitedabout large shopping centres...)

am trying to chill...and be philosophical/open minded/non-judgemental/generous etc.....SIL is not someone I get on easily with....I reallystruggle with herparenting approach...and her2 ds's area challenge tosay the least....obviously up to her how she parents...but difficult when theyare staying in my home and I have todealwith consequences...etc(eg MY DC keptawaketill after 11pmlast night byher boys(aged 3 and 7)running wild around the house having refused to bed....then me expected to look after them this morning when they got up whilst also getting my 6 ready for school whilst SIL still in bed...then SIL moaning and huffing and puffing because the dog has barked at one of them and jumped up at another - whilst they were shreiking and going wild-which obviously stressed out/over excited dog...)So now SIL demands the poor dog is shut in kitchen whilst her children are around....Personally would rather shut her children in the kitchen and leave poor dog alone....and then when dog was in kitchen asleep in bed older boy goes in and starts poking at her...so gets barked at again..despite me trying to explain about leaving her alone when in her bed...etc...

phew...anyway glad to have all that off my chest...am trying so hard...as dont want to spoil trip for MIL...but tis hard!

Have instructed dh to bring home wine! and havehad lots of tea and biscuits so far!

Oh and was up from 2.30 till 6.30(when Igot up LOL) with dd..poorly on sofa soneeding more tlc....

have managed to make 2 dozen very basic iced buns for school fair though...and have gammon roasting in the ovenand bread in breadmaker...andwine requested .....LOL

right...off to read and catch upwith thead...BB in a bit!

OverflowingFestiveMum · 20/11/2009 14:36

wendy sounds positive with DH....

swan hope childcare worksout for confirmation

OverflowingFestiveMum · 20/11/2009 14:40

starbear hairdo and dinner with sis sounds fab!

scatty hope poorly dd survived school

OverflowingFestiveMum · 20/11/2009 14:43

simply...well done on floor mopping....tht is something else festering at the bottom of my list.... >>wonders how I can teach doggy to wipe her paws

OverflowingFestiveMum · 20/11/2009 14:48

swan LOL at dog as an ally....she seems to have taken an instant dislike to SIL's boys....not helping situation really....bit shocked actually as obvioulsy she is very used to children....DS2 climbs into her bed with her and they snuggle up together....but after getting told off for barking and jumping up at the boys yesterday she has decided she doesnt like them at all and just wants to stear clear of them...hmmmm she's a clever doggy

swanriver · 20/11/2009 14:53

I have to say, I drive my poor SIS mad when I visit HER in Ireland.
She takes the line that my kids are very fussy, overprotected and babyish, their clothes are washed too often, they don't know how to play football, and I take the line (secretly - much too frightened of her to actually tell her this that her kids are left to their devices too much (ie: she never gets up in the morning till 9.am) and though lovely, dangerously rough (causing my ds to break his bones TWICE).
Luckily we agree on bedtime or else total war would result.

I would just insist in the nicest possible way that all the kds go to bed at a set time or else...your children will behave abombinably..and poor MIL will suffer.

Starbear et al. Happy to stay here losing my £ a week. Will update in a week with truth

on here to avoid eating a biscuit [no comment]
have just walked in the door after exceptionally vigorous walk up and down hill with dcs to and from dd's singng lesson. Everyone grubby, good humoured (if a little hyper), trailing dirty bookbags and tatty bits of plastic. Hobnobs got caught in wheel and ended up on pavement [no comment] ah well that's lucky.
Pjs and Shrek 1 now, I think whilst I try and think what's for supper and tidy up.
Still no hoover bags they were meant to have arrived today in the post.

School are finally showing some interest in ds1's education and mentioned a home tutor from council , as I think they are worried about their attendance stats Will discuss on Tues with someone, not ds1's teacher who seems to be unavailable after school every day [gives up]

swanriver · 20/11/2009 17:40

ah I seem I was meant to type biscuit not no comment...very confusing these emoticons.

swanriver · 20/11/2009 17:42

I don't believe it - they have given THEMSELVES showers and are now weighing themselves in pjs.

OverflowingFestiveMum · 20/11/2009 18:09

evening all
have opened the wine LOL
swan yes...does seem to be some clash of Irish V English parenting/lifestyles...
BUT DH has just told me that sil comnplained about sleeping arrangements...because ds needed to go to sleep at 11pm(henormally goes tobedat 9.30 andhad to be up at 6.30 for school...)....and as he was sleeping on sofa meant sil and mil had to go up....
apparently they couldnt be made to go to bed so early....never mind that me and dh had given up our bed and room...ds had given up his and was on the sofa...I had spent entire day rearranging bedding etc....humph...

right moan over...off to attend to gammon LOL and pour more wine....

swanriver · 20/11/2009 19:07

OFM - What a very tiresome woman - she clearly does not want to be invited again.
