Kids ALL HAD to have a shower again this morning! I fear this will not be good for my bathroom walls which get mouldy very quickly. Will have to make sure window is open during showers ithink. Otherwise i will be bleaching down walls every week. But the shower is very nice!

TheMadHouse · 10/05/2009 09:55

I am off to the garden centre with DS2 to get organic slug pellats and stuff.

Hoping keeping them apart may help with things - fingures crossed.

DH is starting last riased bed.

Washer is on

Wolfcub · 10/05/2009 11:25

morning all

ds has woken up in a vile mood again, I really would rather be at work

dp let me have a lie in with the promise that he would do the morning jobs, had the lie in and then had to get up and do all the jobs anyway so I am and . I should have just got up with ds and got on with it, I might have known the dp would just stick ds in front of the tv and then lie on the sofa doing nothing. Bloody men!

Anyway so far I have done

kitchen and living room quick tidy
washing up put away
washing up done
dw unloaded reloaded and on
washing folded and wet washing hung up
garden storage box put together

I still need to do all the cleaning but I have no motivation and am feeling very .
I am letting ds listen to nursery rhymes on my laptop in the hope that it'll chill him out a bit

galen sorry about the early start, hang in there until tomorrow
mad I hope today goes better for you and your boys behave
morning to swan wendy tort and dyls and anyone who pops in later

scattyspice · 10/05/2009 12:01

Hi all.

I don't know where the last few days have gone .

Wolf and mad - sounds like your LOs have spring fever lol, hope you can keep up with them. Stay focused on that bubbly bath and glass of wine waiting for you tonight (or is that just me lol).

Galen - you are nearly there girl! You have been heroic!

Tort - I am impressed with your DIY skills!

Wendy and swan- I am impressed with your cooking skills!

Yesterday I went into town and bought some gorgeous lime green birkenstock sandals for the summer!
We also went into the loft and dug out all the summer clothes, some baby toys for a friend (DC have been playing with them this morning lol) and the double buggy for another friend. I set it all up to clean etc, it brought me out in a cold sweat just thinking about pushing that about!! So glad those days are gone (but it was fun at the time) (mostly).

Today we've been swimming (thankfully lessons are paying off and ds can swim really well - still only under water though ) also dd discovered that she can touch the bottom on tip toes so she was much happier. For the first time in 5 yrs I could lol about in the water without a child clamped to me like a limpet!

Off to a party soon.

BBL.

Tortoise · 10/05/2009 12:28

Hi Wolf. Sorry you didn't have a very good start to the day.

Thanks Scatty Tis nice to have people say i have done well.

Have just made millionaires shortbread. Yum! Need to make DD1's cake this week too.

grouchyoscar · 10/05/2009 13:42

Happy Sunday to you All

I'm having a very s-l-o-w day, I can't find my gumption or mojo. I'm just pottering at things that I know need doing. Yep the bare minimum

So my rather pathetic list is

Up and help Ed downstairs (the alarm needed turning off
Load DW and run
Empty WM and sort for drying
Back to bed
Strip Bedclothes (I covered them in marmalade and toast crumbs )
Load WM and run
Have a shower
Dust bedroom
Remake the bed
Get ironing pile ready and DO THE IRONING
Bag packed for morning
Timesheet completed for work
Ed's Uniform ready for morning

TO DO

Vac front room
Lunch boxes for tommorow
Reading practice with Ed and comments for the teacher
Tidy round, make place look cared for!

Spent yesterday at MIL's (DH & Ed watching footy me just lurking) then I helped Ed build his pocket £ Lego kit, he'd saved, had the tooth fairy visit, filled his sticker chart and got pupil of the week so he chose a nice City kit.

Today, I feel manky. Dunno why, just blah!

Oh Wolf, I'll mail you, hang on.
Hope you are all well.

galen · 10/05/2009 14:19

Afternoon.
Galen Glad your day is turning out to be a nice one.
GO Relax, it is the weekend.
I have been tidying the kitchen/dining table area. Was really messy! Getting better now. The more i get done today the less running around i will have to do all week getting it tidy for DD1's party.

grouchyoscar · 10/05/2009 14:37

Procrastinate no more

laurasmiles · 10/05/2009 15:25

Hello all -
I'm back on here and ON IT! Still shattered but much less moody. I took all your advice on friday and did little and often and today the house is back in a reasonable state and I feel like I can look forward to bedding in these FLY habits further, next week. So thanks.

Galen - Can you beleive this week is nearly gone?? I've been thinking about you lots actually as it helped me to get my situation in perspective. I think you'll have earned a few treats next week, eh? Hope the reunion is ggggoooood!!

I set up a knitting group recently, (well it was an excuse to go and sit in the pub and natter really!). But I'm the least capable knitter there and haven't had the needles out since the last meet! I think I'm going to be found out soon. I had ulterior motives!

TMH I'm glad the sun is out and hope the garden comes together - it sounds smashing. Eevery day can't be a full on 'Up' day I guess, but I hope you and dp are on the right track underneath the daily annoyances and trials. I'm sure you are from all you've said. Keep talking and sharing with dp - don't hold it all to yourself. You deserve his support x

Tort Dead impressed with the DIY skills. My dp has just finished building our extension and renovating everthing and I'm ashamed to say I didn't get my hands stuck in at all. You must be dead chuffed with yourself for just giving it a crack.

Grouchy Enjoy your lazy day, relish in it and get as much rest as you can.

Well done to all your chefs out there whipping up creations. I've just made a lovely banana and chocolate cakebread with the children and I'm going to try a new fish pie recipie tonight, so we'll see how that goes down!

Probably won't get back on here so see you all Monday. x

grouchyoscar · 10/05/2009 16:22

Well I've now

Vacced the front room
Vacced the fireplace and fire
Vac stairs and landing
Vac the edges of the bedroom
Change the vac bag (as it was awfully full )
Empty the WM
Sort for drying and hang to dry
Make lunch boxes for morning

And Ed will do his reading after tea

not bad for a gumptionless day

Hope you are all very well

Laura, I love knitting. Have a knitting bag next to telly. Still on a scarf

no cooking done today Scatty.
mine went through that mermaid phase too, it is funny that they swim that way first isn't it.

Grouchy good lego living

Wendy, I find red creeping in everywhere in this house. Glad you got so many jobs done.

Done
children slightly less scruffy than usual
found a nice green summer dress to wear I bought in charity shop and teamed with very smart cream jacket and green necklace
Went to party for croissants and coffee/juice
then to pizzeria nearby

Dh in very annoying mood carping about arrangements but luckily cheered up at party.
Dcs then behaved abominably on way home having tantrum in back seat hitting and scratching each other. Dh finally left the car and walked off . They were amazed by this and stopped screaming .
All calmed down in garden with sun, sand and wclimbing frame and lots of water Dh entertained them

I think we were all a bit overtired, understatement.

Watered entire garden front and back
potted up some more petunias and busy lizzies
cleaned some worktops rather pathetically
put in a wash

now hanging it out and serving baked potatoes and leftovers for tea

Wolf, just give ds a big hug and your dh. You work so hard, you deserve to feel better.

TheMadHouse · 10/05/2009 18:10

Evening all

Well DH has worked and worked and worked and I have three raised veggie beds (6 foot by 3 foot), 2 barrels for potaotes and also various pots for all my salad stuff. He made them, painted them and filled them.

I have now to plant them all! Once I have done that I will take some photo's

DH's next job is to plumb in a water butt in the bin area and also make some shelves for the recycling bins (as the water but will be in their place).

The boys have planted their sunflower seeds and water the whole garden and themselves.

We have all been bathed, PJ'd and fed
DW is on
WM is ready to go on
Clothes are out for the boys for the morning

I am a little sad that the weekend is over really. It is the evenings that are the hardest, but during the day it feels just as though me and DH are normal and loved up IFKWIM

galen I am holding out for the consultant I saw previously, only thing is he has been promoted and is head of mental health now!!! I was his only real patient. I am also happy to see the nurse I saw for the CBT too, as he was great and we really worked well together. They know my history, I wouldnt have to repeat things, so worth waiting for.

I am now off to play 3D snakes and ladders with the boys and DH

Later Flybabes

swanriver · 10/05/2009 18:12

P.S. Amazed and admiring of all dps who lug compost and build extensions, and also I should be grateful for my dh who gets in morning first thing with early risers. He never does any serious jobs Wolf, except dw and breakfast, but it is enough that he keeps ds cheerful company and lets me sleep, so don't feel too bad, I think they just look on the morning routine differently.

swanriver · 10/05/2009 18:13

x-post and prophetic TMH. I think he is showing his love for you all.

TheMadHouse · 10/05/2009 18:16

X-posts Swan Sounds like a pretty good day to me.

DH was never handy (he's an accountant), but he will try his hand at anything now - plus we dont have the money to pay an expert anymore

I am pround of him - he tries hard to provide for all of us, in more than just money ways!!

scattyspice · 10/05/2009 18:55

Back from the party. Here's a tip:

If your child gets invited to a party with a chocolate fountain, DON'T GO! If you do DON'T TAKE A YOUNGER SIBLING and under no circumstances DRESS THEM IN NEW LIGHT COLOURED CLOTHES!!! LOL (it was lots of fun actually, but very messy).

Done:
washed up
made sandwiches
home work
bags packed
clothes out

To do
Persuade dc to have a bath (and go to bed lol)
Floors
Ironing (groan).

I too am impressed at the handy husbands you girls have. My dh is actually quite practical, but takes ages (perfectionist ). He will not pay someone to do something that he can do himself, consequently I live amongst half done jobs lol.

galen · 10/05/2009 19:22

Well I have survived the day and littlies are in bed YAY!!!!!
A few of the usual moments at dinner and bedtime, but on the whole a fairly succseful evening

laura great to hear your feeling a bit brighter. little steps really do work dont they!

mad your raised beds sound fab. Glad you and DH were able to enjoy the weeknd.Hope you get to see th Dr/nurse you want soonand that they are helpful

swan sounds like a busy day!

laura/swan have tried out my new knitting needles LOL Took me about 200 goes and 45 mins to figure out how to cast on!!!!! But now have 2 wobbly rows of knitting....oh well I can only get better!!

scatty LOL choclate fountain....thats brave!!

everyone-else Hi!

Still to do:
Washing in
reboot laundry
lunchboxes
bed!!

Have officially now totally run out of energy!

Have homestart volunteer coming tomorrow am which I had sort of forgotten....feeling a bit nervous now, hope I've done the right thing....

Right well ladies...have good evenings

See you all tomorrow

OP posts:
TheMadHouse · 10/05/2009 19:59

galen you have done the right thing regarding the homestart volenteer. Mine is a wonderful lady that the boys and I activley look forward to arriving and is fast becoming a firm family friend. Well done you on getting through the week.

Scatty pmsl sounds like my DS2. He was covered in soil today. DH used to be a perfectionist, but now is just glad he can do it. I am far too anal to allow half finnished jobs - brings out the Facilities Manager in me

Laura well done on getting through - the first couple of weeks with Fly are the hardest - as you realise just how bad things are and how much you want to imporve them. It is easy to start too fast adn fade to nothing. Pace yourself

Prof adn Dyls we are not a fifi household - thank god

Groucy Just beacuse Boris is behaving, dont do too much

Wolf I think our children are off the same ilk - they know which buttons to press. DH and I think ours are mini werewolves

EHM I hope that you have had a relaxing weekend and are feeling better and that you managed to take Ellie to the party. Sending healing vibes.

Tort Howdy DIY guru

EV Mani and Pedi sounds heaven. My nails are not up to it, but you inspired me to paint my toenails and both the boys he he he
Waves to anyone lese I may have fogotten

Washer is on
Boys are snoring
I have massaged DH sore back and feet - dutiful wife emoSorted week ahead
Now having a cup of cammomile tea and then switching off

scattyspice · 10/05/2009 20:04

Well done galen. You're nearly home and dry. The surestart lady will be able to help you catch up a bit .

wendyredkitchenredspots · 10/05/2009 20:19

Hi all have just been pottering in my greenhouse and sorting my raised bed - very chilled!
Lovely dinner, worth the effort - FIL said the mushroom and ale pie was 'nice' - the first postive comment I have ever had about my veggie main courses I give them (he is very plain eater and likes his meat only!) so I was stunned and very happy! I, however, didn't like it and gave mine to DH and had the broccoli one I'd made for the children! Too much ale for my liking.

See you all tomorrow

swanriver · 10/05/2009 20:58

I remember when I had a helper with the twins Galen it was difficult at first to adjust to having someone in the house, and sometimes it felt as if the children only wanted to be with you anyway, so you both ended up doing things together (which seemed a bit pointless) But I eventually I suppose I just used the time not to rush around doing jobs but just recharge and feel sane. All the little maddening things about looking after small children were neutralised a bit when the helper was there. My instinct was to keep thinking "I just want to be with my children by myself without help and do things my own way" when it was counterproductive. You are so good at coping you probably feel guilty having asked for any help, but just use it any way you want. After all, most people have built in help like close relatives or old friends, that's how they manage.

Tired dcs in bed asleep, ds1 suffering worse from early start, he really needs to sleep till 8.00am every morning or turns into a baby ogre. Fell asleep with dd reading Horrid Henry (it is so very soothing except when I realise HH is saying all the things I've forbidden dd to say like "Shut Up" or "Stupid"...)

Apparently there is no homework for next two weeks because of the year 2 SATS! What a joy!
I now see that that evil project last week was set for the benefit of the Ofsted Inspectors.

Now still have to hang out washing on line
Put away all the uniform
Take things out of freezer for lunchbox
reorganize fridge again
Go to shop for some Sheba NOW for cat who is bored of dry food.
remake our bed
sweep kitchen floor

swanriver · 10/05/2009 21:05

Your lunch sounded absolutely delicious Wendy, FIL probably gets the best food in the district there. I really enjoy cooking for larger groups, just not the house tidying that is entailed! But that's what is nice about family lunches, they probably already know the score

sagacious · 10/05/2009 21:12

Busy day today !

Have had a mini ironing marathon
Cleared out cupboard under the sink
Descaled shower head
Wiped down leather sofas
Defluffed stairs
Changed bedsheets
Watered garden
Swept floors

swan ds who is in year 2 is doing Horrid Henry in school ! He should be doing SATS this week as well.
