How do you all store art stuff like felt tips, scissors, glue etc?

We had a hanging thing with pockets, which went on the door next to his little table, but it was cheapo plastic and has ripped.

What do other people use? We haven't really got shelf space for this kind of thing, and even if we did, I am not sure what I would store it in. I like him being able to reach it from where he is sitting - maybe a little organiser with drawers in? We're short of space tbh. All ideas gratefully received.

Vile plastic drawers here too. They are from Staples, office furniture and I keep some big drawers up high (carcase screwed to the wall) but bring the drawers out individually so contents don't get mixed up and mayhem is limited.

Smaller set of drawers are on the kitchen worktop for pens, scissors, playdough cutters etc. Tiny set on the top for eyes, bottle tops, little bits out of magazines etc. Glitter under lock and key in cupboard

you can buy the ikea bags in smaller versions. though i tend to enjoy sorting out pens etc so it never gets untidy. (weirdy habit)

FrannyandZooey · 03/04/2009 20:12

no norbert i was joking! they are inoffensive imo
i think they're fine

molly i have a whole shelfing unit full of arts and crafts crap
this is just for pens and scissors etc, that get used all the time
i despair of ever being properly organised

Oh, Oh! I am so excited about my purchase of a tool box.

Until I remember that it is filled with crap and never opened -- there is too much stuff piled on top!

but it could work.

I might try a shoe hanger for behind the door next (loads of pockets). Whaddya think?

NorbertDentressangle · 03/04/2009 20:13

lol Molly -I've just realised we also have a wooden trunk with art stuff in too. Its the lesser used stuff though as the DVD player and some plants sit on top of it so PITA to access

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/04/2009 20:13

Mine are actually viler; I should have mentioned that the main part is red and the drawers are blue, green and yellow.
Norbert's look very good though.

FrannyandZooey · 03/04/2009 20:13

Franny -don't worry, I wasn't offended that you though my drawers were vile. I won't hold it against you, honest.

Its funny that as soon as Kathy said "vile plastic drawers" I knew exactly what was meant.

MollyRogerslikeanEasterabbit · 03/04/2009 20:21

Norbert, you are freaking me out - we dress alike, (apparently), we are both seemingly disorganised and arty....

Ohforfoxsake · 03/04/2009 20:21

3 drawer plastic unit, one drawer for playdough, one of painting, one for sticking and glueing. Whip each drawer out when creative mood takes you, and scoop everything back in for next time. It ain't pretty but its practical and washable.

NorbertDentressangle · 03/04/2009 20:21

X'd posts Kathy -those do sound very 80s with the use of bold and primary colours

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 03/04/2009 20:23

You store them in the bin/grannys house/nursery, they are normally better equipt at cleaning up then us mere mortals.

FrannyandZooey · 03/04/2009 20:30

We have these - bought pretty much new for £50 on ebay!

www.toytidy.com/storage-trolley-independent-best-50-storage-solutions-p-70.html

It is magnificent, although large. We are looking to give it a new home if anyone is interested.

oregonianabroad · 03/04/2009 20:31

Don't bet on it, Franny.

But they're only cheap, so I'm gonna give it a go. It's got to be better than the assorted lidless tupperwares piled on the table we have going on now.

oregonianabroad · 03/04/2009 20:32

OH MY GOD, Caz, that thing looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

oregonianabroad · 03/04/2009 20:32

Sorry, Kaz33

kaz33 · 03/04/2009 20:35

It is we have had it about three years, it just swallows everything .
The people who we bought it from hadn't measured their dining room properly and so sold it us.

FrannyandZooey · 03/04/2009 20:36

kaz yes i am interested! blimey

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 03/04/2009 20:37

FrannyandZooey · 03/04/2009 20:42
