Morning Mad - thanks for the thread. Glad you are feeling more positive. I once worked on a surgical ward caring for women who were having mastectomies - it's an operation that's both physically and emotionally hard, but you are ABSOLUTELY doing the best possible thing for yourself and your family. Please keep coming on and telling us how you're feeling about it all.

Have only just caught up on yesterday's thread, don't know where yesterday went! Have a friend over for coffee this morning and then out this afternoon so will need to fit some flying in around that. Morning routine underway but need to get some proper zone cleaning done I think.

ShannaraTiger · 13/01/2009 09:39

Morning all

TMH Thansk for the thread. Wolf's writing really made me think too. It is so nice having 'virtual' MN friends, sometimes it's easier to tell things on here than in real life.
I'm off to the doctors later to find out about the contraceptive injection. My friend had it and said that you don't have periods and it's not affected by things like antibiotocs and stomach upsets etc. I've been worrying since Decembers dose of antibiotics especialy as having now changed my Epilepsy medicine an unplanned pregnancy is just not an option. I think my period has just started, definately the first time I have felt so pleased to feel the stomach cramps.

Today started at 4:30, the alarm woke ds up as well. His stomach is still upset so he's not very happy.
Back in a minute, ds has fallen asleep in the chair.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 13/01/2009 09:45

Morning ladies
TMH - thanks for thread
IV - hope you manage to Fly a bit today - more importantly have fun with your friend.
Shannara - will be interested to read about the injection - I have often wondered about it.

Morning routine done
am up todate with washing and ironging

taking DS1 to new singing group this morning.

So need a bit of advice ladies.. DH is ALWAYS exhausted and it is getting on my nerves. I have tried getting him to come to bed earlier but he still doesn't get into bed before 12.30am and mostly later. Getting him out of bed most mornings is like moving mountains and he moans alot about how exhausted he is. He blames it on having children but I feel that alot of it would be fixed if he would just COME TO BED.

What can I do?

AnneOfAvonlea · 13/01/2009 09:52

Morning all.

Dishwasher broken

House a mess. Meant to be swimming but I feel rough and DD2 has a cold so we're sciving in front of tv.

TheMadHouse · 13/01/2009 09:53

Greyskull I have a lumie bodyu clock and it is fantastic. If he struggles to get to sleep the new one has meditation phases and also the sunset is ace. In the morning the light gradually brightens and voila I am awake. I was a nightmare and the day I forget it I am grotbags through and through. Expensive, but defo worth the value IMHO

Off to toddlers now.

I left DS1 crying at preschool, unlike him. Not sure what is wrong with him at all

So far I have

Put some ironing away
Cleaned kitchen worktops
watched wiggles with DS2

OP posts:
BiancaCastafiore · 13/01/2009 09:57

Morning

Greyskull my dh is the same - always tired but never just comes to bed at a decent hour which is teh obvious solution imo! I am running out of sympathy

I'm feeling weepy today (and most days atm tbh). Need to get the house (and myself) back on track.
I'm getting my hair cut in a couple of days and am going to try to get my eyebrows shaped later today in an attempt to perk myself up. We've set up a cross trainer we are looking after for some friends (but I think they've forgotten about it) in our bedroom so I'm doing 30 mins almost every day to try to keep on top of my weight-loss success which has been going downhill over Xmas/New Year.
I don't need to collect the kids till 4 today so will try to have a good run round with the hoover/duster etc before then.

sagacious · 13/01/2009 10:00

Morning all mad your message made me well up [soppy emoticon]

shannara I've been thinking about having the injection as well

Dc's at school (feels very odd saying that!) so have a full day to do stuff.

Just had a friend over for a quick coffee after the school run.

Need to

Write and send cattery deposit cheque
Sweep under sofa's
One load washing
Ironing (small pile before it multiplys)
Go to gym
Mission
Clean shower
Clean mirrors

Have a good day !

swanriver · 13/01/2009 10:33

Good for you Anne. I'm sure it's not really a mess tho'. Sometimes a lovely sink full of bubbles can be a tonic. Tho horrible smelly dishwasher that doesn't work infuriating.
Bianca sometimes the only thing to do is cry
Greyskull. I am your dh (possibly not so hardworking) Dh cracked the prob by going to bed at 10.30 religiously with a book instead of trying to get his downtime in front of telly. I always make mistake of relaxing between 9-10.30pm and then tidying between 10.30 and 12. And I'm always saying, I'll just do this before I come to bed etc etc, and makes dh FED UP and a bit lonely.

Dd on warpath.

AnneOfAvonlea · 13/01/2009 11:06

do i go for £100 to repair 7 year old dishwasher or £500 for new dishwasher?

galen · 13/01/2009 11:23

Morning all!
mad totally agree about virtual friends - a real saviour!
bianca sorry you're feeling low - definately try to get some "me" time and pamper yourself for a bit.(also reminded me I sooo need to do my eyebrows - they're getting out of control LOL)
greyskull my Dh is EXACTLY the same. It is a constant source of frustration between us. I MAKE myself go to bed at a reasonable hour because I know I just can't function the next day if I dont. DH stays up till all hours watching goodness knows what rubbish on TV and is ALWAYS moaning about how exhausting life with kids is!Last night, whilst I was tidying up the tea time chaos he had to go and lie on a pile of cushions on the floor cause he was so tired and his back was hurting from...wait for it... "from sitting down all day2 - his words !!! I was NOT happy!

Anyway due to bad evening last night, and not enough of evening routine getting done this morning was abit chaotic!
Still have survived. Now having MN time!
Done:
Kids up , fed dressed etc...
Breakfast done and cleared.
WM on, TD on
Bathrooms S&S
Dinner made - in slow cooker
School drop off done
Big aldi shop done
Home - snack DD4, DS 2 fed and up for nap
Shopping away ( much easier as I sorted out fridge and freezer yesterday YAY!)
Lunch underway

To do:
WM unload, reload etc...
DW load and on.
Lunch, and tidy lunch
General tidy round everywhere.

Then have "new Starters" meeting at school for Dd3 at 2.30 so wont probably get much else done.
Singing club after school too, so awkward evening...
Hoping to do a bit of tidying and sorting in DD 1 and 2's room with them later .... may not hapen though
No zone cleaning yet - hoping to get some done tomorrow though as have no shopping or errands ...
Hope you all have good afternoons.
BBL!

swanriver · 13/01/2009 11:24

Definitely new dishwasher, but why not cheapo one? I had a GOOD dishwasher, but it still went wrong, and spent £200 on circuit boards etc over years, and now I've bought cheap and cheerful Hotpoint. So that at least if it goes wrong again who cares. And its under guarantee anyway for five years. Been through three dishwashers in last twenty years, and now think simpler the less likely to conk out.

AnneOfAvonlea · 13/01/2009 11:33

erm, it's integrated and the man told me a new one would be about £500.

swanriver · 13/01/2009 11:37

Now I am very pleased with myself for completing routines by 11.00.

Done
Kitchen
Laundry
Beds
S & S
Rubbish
What's for dinner? bowling party Mcdonalds dcs
Dh ratouille leftover and rice. Egg?
Have also read 2 chapters of Bedknob and B to dd who's at home today malfunctioning. And hoovered my bedroom

Now
Violin dd 5 mins
homework dd some of it
Use up some eggs
Plan book club dinner which I'd forgotten is thurs 15th here.
Read bkclub book
mission - haven't done that prticlr thing for at least a year.
Order ds1 jumpers

Dd has just made herseslf some toast. Andis about to delete this mesge.

swanriver · 13/01/2009 11:38

Still buy new.

sagacious · 13/01/2009 11:40

ann my dishwasher is intergrated (original came with new house was a smeg and it was total crap) I'm sure my replacement cheapie (baumatic) was less than £300 (inc fitting)

sagacious · 13/01/2009 11:41

If it was that sort of price I'd probably get a new one .. the £500 I'd get it repaired TBH

BiancaCastafiore · 13/01/2009 11:46

We bought a new dw over a £120 repair bill last year - wasn't integral though, new one was £350ish..

I have now -

Hoovered though-out downstairs
mopped all floors downstairs
Had eyebrows waxed (ouch! Had trainee for £3!!)
First load of laundry in wm
Made soup
Ordered new jumper dress from M&S

Still need to tackle upstairs which isn't too bad as I had a mini blitz last week; I just need to hoover and maintain the tidiness

Feeling a bit brighter already

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 13/01/2009 12:06

well what a waste of time! went to singing group - only to find it isn't going to run due to lack of interest. DS2 was really excited.

Oh well - went and had coffee with a friend instead

Bianca - hope you feel brighter soon - a bit of pampering can do wonders for the soul

Anne I would go for the new dishwasher - the new one will not only come with a warranty but also will probably be more energy efficient.

Thanks for all the responses about DH - I am wondering about trying some toddler taming type ideas on him...

TheMadHouse · 13/01/2009 12:33

Anne I wouldnt pay £500 for a new dishwash even an intergrated one.

We had ours repaired like swan it cost £120 and finally died 6 months later and we ended up buying a new one

Well lunches have been eaten
DS1 is having some wii time (for being good at school) - do you know they have a wii at DS1's preschool now

I need to do the mission and crack on but am having a cuppa first.

OP posts:
TheMadHouse · 13/01/2009 12:45

Tesco order done - now to crack on really

OP posts:
scattyspice · 13/01/2009 12:56

Hi all.

I have slipped behind (oh no!) after yesterdays crazy day.

To do:
collect car from garage
laundry
mission in BR and play room
house bleugh.

I fall asleep (doesn't matter where I am) at about 10.30 lol. DH and I always go to bed together at 10.30 (we are Derby and Joan ). My dh complains that having kids is hard work too (and I say, 'what did you think it was going to be like?')

BBL

Countingthegreyhairs · 13/01/2009 13:15

Sorry you are feeling down today Bianca - it's that time of year isn't it - good strategy to hit the beauty salon though and hope you feel a bit better as the day goes on

Anne - I can recommend a Siemens dishwasher - v. economical to run although pricey initially - v. reliable. maybe there's a bargain to be had in the sales??

I'm the owl in my house and part of my new Flying routine is to get myself to bed at 10pm with a book and asleep by 10.30 - it does make all the difference to the day but I'm not achieving it consistently and am beginning to discover that consistency is the key to Flying ...

Doing my first mission today (day 13 of baby-steps)

Hello to everyone else ...
and thank you Mad for the thread

dd has dressed up in a bunny coat that she wore when she was three. The ears are gone, but she looks very sweet, all white and furry. It is going to charity shop

Now I have hoovered livingroom
given dd her lunch
she has done some handwriting
cannot make any sense of literacy hwk - will have to ask teacher what it means

I have been thinking again about the latenight phenomenon. I think I stay up because I like time to myself and perceive that this is only time available, but of course it's not. And it is not very productive time either. Maybe the answer is a slow 5 mins every night earlier rather than cold turkey 10.30pm. The other thing dh has done is spend 10 mins when he gets home reviving before anyone talks to him, by sneaking in and usually hiding in kitchen by the toaster.
