Greyskull, I forgot to say, out with singing group - you can sing with your dcs yourself! Try Fiddler on the Roof, Mary Poppins, ELC tapes, or even the theme tune to Autumnwatch (on cbeebies website) There's also an amazing cd called something like Bears Crows and Centipedes by a scot (don't have it here unfortunately).

scattyspice · 13/01/2009 16:20

Dh hides too, but luckily he does it by going in the kitchen and making the tea (I am no cook).

I am a bit of a lazyarse after 8pm .

Done
garage - collected keys
school paper work
laundry
1/2 house bleugh

To do
more laundry
rest of housebleugh
mission.

DS had his first spelling test today. He said he couldn't spell school so he looked at the badge on his sweatshirt and copied it off there . That boy will go far!

Jas · 13/01/2009 16:43

Sorry I'm a slack FLY friend. Just popping in to say hi

I am a night owl....ATM I am getting to bed by 12, and feeling proud of the early nights
Gradually bringing bedtime forward is the way to go (I am prone to staying up to finish a book, and not noticing until 3/4am)
Don't know how to make another adult do it if he doesn't see it as the problem though...

We are decluttering and hotspotting in a big way while dp is home, and my mum had paid for materials to continue swork on the bathroom (started a year ago so trying to make use of dp beiong home.

Would rather he had a job though....

BiancaCastafiore · 13/01/2009 17:40

Hi Jas good to see you Glad work is progressing in the bathroom and that teh decluttering is going well. Hope work comes dps way soon x x

I have got the house pretty good and tidy today I also spent a bit of time in the garden which was really nice

Kids are both tired so their bath is running, hoepfully bedtime will follow quickly Dh is working late

TheMadHouse · 13/01/2009 17:43

Evening all

I am back from taking friend out for the bits she needed and also got a nasty nightshirt from matalan with buttons down the front (very old lady material) nad a pair of spotty cotton short sleaved PJ's for hospital.

I sing and play with the boys, we have a box full of instruments, drum, shakers, bells etc and some CD's. Happy sun high is fantastic and we have some from when we did Kindermusic too. Music is v important for boys as it is a left brain activity which isnt natural for them

DS2 was sat in the car singing muse tonight

Evening all -

was thinking of combining one of my NYR's with getting DH to bed earlier

perhaps a few nights of this and he will appreciate the sleep and start coming to bed earlier

Jas - good to see you putting the time to good use
Swan - never been to a bowling party - what are they like? - as for singing group well that is just the bummer - he enjoys us doing that so much at home I thought it would be good to get out to a group and do it with some other children - hey ho!
GO - Wow you are having a good day! borris back in his box?
Scatty - that is genius looks like he will be able to look after himself!
sorry gotta run someone cryiong

EHM · 13/01/2009 18:09

grouchy for your news.
wolfcub love your post about kitchen
anne our dw has also died yesterday after 7 years. I can't live without one. But we have a Bosch one & not sure we want to invest the same money even if it takes another year to sell our house. I will be doing some surfing for good deals during the next couple of days. £500 that is a lot, can't remember how much we paid all those years ago. Don't these people know there a credit crunch

Bugger I am late yet again to leave for picking up DH from station{shock] LATERS!

grouchyoscar · 13/01/2009 18:11

Greyskull Yeah, Boris is in his box at the moment (Touch wood). I'm umming and erring about job hunting ATM. I feel really well at the moment so I don't want to upset the applecart really. Would it be worthwhile or am I asking for trouble? I'm enjoying feeling normal atm so I'll stick to the vol work for now

Can I share this with you? Yesterday I heard Ed trying to get a day off school with DH. DH said he couldn't stay with him as he was going to work. Ed said 'Mummy can, she doesn't work.' and DH said 'Mummy works hard everyday looking after us two' It wasn't meant for me to hear so it was and all at once really.

TheMadHouse · 13/01/2009 18:42

Groucy Nice to know that your DH Does appreicate you and is stopping Ed from being one of them men that think SAHM does nothing all day.

Greyskull Sounds like a plan to me

DH is spending quality time with the boys, as he was late in tonight - dreaded January.

I am tired and will be having an early night, once the evening routone is done and the swimming stuff is out for me and DS2

Evening all.

mad sorry about the singing group - thats a shame - just reminded me I want to find a new music group to take Dd 4 to now got Dd 3 off at school!

bianca glad you're feeling brighter - still need to get round to sorting my eyebrows!

So a busy but good day here. we had just finished lunch when my sister rang to say she was up near us on work ( lives quite a way away, but travels lots with her job) and could ashe pop in for a cuppa! Was really glad that the house was at least vaguely presentable. She is totally cleaning obsessed and her house is like a show home LOL (we do get on but we have quite diff lifestyles LOL) Normally I would be cleaning for several days before she visited!
Anyway had a nice time with her ( only brief as she had to get back to work) and she commented on how shiny my sink was LOL LOL

Not much time after that before meeting at school, but did manage 20 mins doing some sorting and decluttering in Dd1 and 2's room. It was really good actually cause I new I didn't have long, but I set the timer and just got on with it, intead of pottering aimlessly for 20 mins!
Really quite liking my new timer too! Used it this morning to solve DD's 3 and 4 fighting over the toy - they had 5 mins each with it and when it diinged they had to give it to the other one - worked really well- they thought it was great LOL

So done this evening:
school pick up
singing club pick up
dinner eaten and cleared away
Dw on
floors swept
WM on (yes again LOL)
lunchboxes done
My clothes ready ( forgot t do little ones , will have to wait till morn now)
packed Dd1's swimming stuff
Littlies bathed pj'd and bed!
Ds 1 gone to fencing
Spent long time chatting to DD1 (she has fallen out with her best friend) had really good time with DD1 and 2 without littlies around - must make more effort to spend more uninterupted time with older ones - have let that slip lately
Now having break, and some Mn time

To do:
fold dry washing.
few bits of washing up left
shine sink
plans for tomorrow
bed!
Hope youre all having good evenings

scattyspice · 13/01/2009 19:47

Well done galen. I should try using a timer.

All done here (incld the mission ).

Back tomorrow.

AnneOfAvonlea · 13/01/2009 19:53

EHM - ours was Bosch.

Grouchy - nice to hear

galen · 13/01/2009 19:54

scatty well done on the mission - I have abandoned missions and I think zone cleaning this week. Working on fine tuning evening and morning routines, decluttering and coming up with some sort of basic weekly plan first! Babysteps...

TheMadHouse · 13/01/2009 19:59

galen Babysteps rule

Anne Our old one was a bosh too - repair man told me to get a cheap hotpoint as they are easier and cheaper to fix

DS1 has come down for some warm milk as "his tummy is cold" trying it on me thinks, but DH is letting him

wendythepositivethinker · 13/01/2009 20:06

Hi everyone, i'm late on here again. My life seems such a whirl of activity I don't get MN time and I miss you all!

Greyskull was going to suggest the combining of NYR

You have all made me feel better, those of you who are night owls, but I have managed two nights before 11 pm now and am feeling better for it. I'm going to make some oatcakes now then do night routine and bed.

H Visitor came today for DD's 2 year check. We were playing a board game at the time. Health Visitor watched us finish the game: DD taking turns, throwing a colour die, naming 6 colours correctly and picking up appropriate piece of jigsaw, fitting into appropriate train carriage of right colour and passing die to DS for his turn . Then she looked at me, and said, 'Well, no problems here, then!'
Can you guess I was feeling happy! Usually they don't perform do they!

DS has been a little bugger all afternoon, think the severe tiredness he had at the weekend is coming back. Defiant, deliberately standing on toys, pushing and shoving DD, shouting and screaming, throwing himself on the floor ... I was fed up with him and he was in the thinking corner a fair bit! But all he's done is go to pre-school!

Hopefully will get a minute to come on and speak to you all tomorrow, I feel the same as Mad about my MN friends, it keeps me sane

Wolfcub · 13/01/2009 20:47

evening all boy has it been a long day. I was working in a different city today so my day was several hours longer and thanks to dp and ds I' be been up since 4am I am shattered. mad I feel the same way, this thread and all you wonderful people have been an anchor for me inany dark and stormy dAys. Lots of face to face friendships don't provide the kind of love support and understanding that we see on this thread everyday.

Done
Made bed
Hung laundry up
Put laundry away and sorted the too small baby clothes out and put them away
Took ds to grannys
Picked ds up from grannys
Put ds to bed- I took over bed wars this evening and ds settled much faster I was definately right about do being at least part of the problem
Dusted living room rapidly
Tidied and organized ds toys and toy box I got some good boxes in lido last weekend which are great for happyland people and pets
Did a modicum of tidying

Right now i've been soppy I think I'm going to get a little drunk

Wolfcub · 13/01/2009 20:56

Anne if you don't want to spend a huge amount of money I'm fairly sure that whirlpool make a built in dishwasher for Ikea that won't break the bank. If you get it repaired try to get a retrospective insurance cover first - we did this when we had a problem with our oven it cost 140 but was spread over ten months and avoids the problem of having it fixed only for it to break down six months later as it will be covered for repair for a year

swanriver · 13/01/2009 22:30

It was a Bosch that conked out in our kitchen after 3 years and had to be repaired often...

For bowling outing was fine. Ds enjoyed being invited to a party, although bowling is not his thing I suspect. I was truly dreading being stuck in a bowling mall for two hours with three children, only two of whom were invited, but on a weekday, not too noisy or crummy. (think flashing lights, loud music, arcade games, loud crashing sounds of balls against skittles, harassed staff and McDONALDS galore) I'm finding outings with the three of them really quite fun now. And I don't have this terrible fear that I won't manage anymore, and that we'll return home with everyone screaming and overtired. Somehow it all goes smoothly, although we are all pleased when Daddy answers door! and takes children away.

Children went to bed happily, more bedknobs and broomsticks read..
Supper eaten and washed up

Final fanfare of laundry

Now to bed. tiptoe

TheMadHouse · 14/01/2009 07:34

yohoo I am here
