On the subject of "how many" - Scrambled Eggs...............................

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 16:49

I want to know if the amount I use is crazy or whether it's about normal (because it feels like a hell of a lot to me).

1 adult
3 DS's - 8,5 and 19 months

How many would you do for scrambled eggs on toast?? (or with toast - DS's prefer their toast separate)

7

2 each for DH and older DC and one for younger DC

differentID · 11/01/2009 16:54

Depends on how hungry the crowd is
2/3 per adult, 2 per slightly older child(5 and over)and 1 for younger children. So either 7/8 for your family.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/01/2009 16:54

I'd do 4. but then I couldn't just have scrambled egg on toast, it would have to be with beans.

differentID · 11/01/2009 16:55

eww! egg and beans should not mix!
again- eww!

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/01/2009 16:57

One of DS's favourite meals is beans and egg on toast.

Honest. he thinks it a great treat to have it for tea

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 16:58

hmm I use 10 - DS3 doesn't eat a lot (token amount) I usually just have one slice of toast with egg on it.

They still complain they're hungry afterwards

give them more toast- bread's cheaper!
that's what my mum used to do. Tons of bread and potatoes made everything else go further.

Coldtits · 11/01/2009 16:59

I'd do 8.

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 17:00

I do, I give them toast, I give them wholemeal toast, bloody thick stuff.

I have to use 2 (400g) tins of beans for beans on toast too .

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/01/2009 17:01

Would you have egg and beans together though?

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 17:01

but if I do baked beans on toast for myself if they're at exH's then I'll use one small tin for myself.

GrimmaTheNome · 11/01/2009 17:02

Its a hell of a lot! Hope you get the low cholesterol type

I'd have said 4 or 5.

DD won't eat eggs but I only do 3 between me and DH if we have them for lunch. Too much egg at a time is a bit yuk IMO.

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 17:02

we have egg and beans together when I do sausages.

Sausages, bacon, mashed potato, fried egg, mushrooms, baked beans, and occasionaly bacon and/or tomato with it if I've got any in.

OP posts:
differentID · 11/01/2009 17:02

FAQ, that's right for beans on toast.

snigger · 11/01/2009 17:03

I usually do three between DDs (6 & 8), and two each for DH and I, but if I was doing for all of us I'd round it up to eight because one always gets 'lost' somewhere...

For scrambled on toast for 1 + 2.5 I'd do 6 or seven depending on how much of an egg lover your 19mth old is - they can be sneaky little egg-bandits at that age, or mine were.

differentID · 11/01/2009 17:03

I'll have them together on a fry-up (which is rare)but they cannot be touching. I usually use the sausages as a barricade.

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 17:04

ahh but difID - they complain they're still hungry after demolishing 1 1/2 tins of baked beans too

OP posts:
MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/01/2009 17:04

LOL at sausages as a barricade

squeaver · 11/01/2009 17:05

I just have to share with you that my dh made scrambled eggs for his lunch today with blue cheese. Dd said, "that's the most disgusting thing I've ever smelled Daddy". I had to agree.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/01/2009 17:06

Now, in a fry up, egg should be fried and should only go with the bacon. Beans are to go with the sausage.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 11/01/2009 17:07

Scrambled egg with blue cheese?

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 17:07

yuck @ scrambled egg with blue cheese.

OP posts:
differentID · 11/01/2009 17:10

I'm doing corned beef hash and beans for me and dh. I'll have any leftovers for lunch tomorrow with grilled cherry tomatoes.

differentID · 11/01/2009 17:11

blue cheese is foul. urgh.

FAQtothefuture · 11/01/2009 17:12

we don't have left overs in this house - I either cook enough for 2 meals (with enough for 2nds at each meal) or it's all gone
