I'm trying to get the enormous stain out of the middle of the sittingroom carpet. I appear to have angered it.

Dd threw up all over the pale sitting room carpet.

I flooded it.
I soaped it.
I sponged it.
I rinsed it.
I threw bicarbonate of soda all over it. Mistake. It made a paste. I waited for it to dry and hoovered it. It won't hoover up.

Ignoring the bicarb paste highlighting for a moment, the stain itself is about a foot square, dark brown and in the center of the room. I've tried Vanish Carpet Stain Remover Power Foam - no effect.

I think if I could get the stain up, the bicarb halo might wash off with a carpet cleaner.

What to do?

The stain was big, dark and bad enough anyway without a bleachy looking foot wide surround stain.

TheStain · 02/12/2008 22:41

I rest my case.

NotanOtter · 02/12/2008 22:42

tbh i would hire a proper cleaner and JUST USE WATER

go over a couple of times and hey ho - like new

brimfull · 02/12/2008 22:46

This happened to our hall, stairs and landing carpet ..we claimed on the household contents insurance. They sent someone out who the stain was too bad to beable to clean so we got new carpets for the £50 excess.

I see your stain and raise you...I have a poo stain, vomit stain and wee stain I need to remove...

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 04/12/2008 15:57

All produced by one small 2 year old, child not elephant as the size of the satins would suggest

pmsl at this thread. I have 3 ds and my carpet is multiply stained beyond repair.
I've given up trying to clean them I welcome the stain it can stay as long as it wants in this house,

I know where there's Irn-Bru with a very shoddily fastened lid...

TheStain · 04/12/2008 21:13

There, there, snigger . You are still the closest to my sticky heart. Off you go and trickle the sticky improbably orange stain-maker of joy...

chaufleur · 04/12/2008 21:34

I would like to recommend the RUG DOCTOR carpet cleaners, you hire them from B&Q.

They are Amazing and work on upholstery brilliantly too.

Have removed BLACK SICK (don't ask, just don't ask) from a CREAM sofa. No smells, no stain, no nothing - except a clean cream sofa.

The only thing that any cleaner won't/can't do is treat stains which have been bleached, because obviously the original colour can't be replaced.

Hubris, psycho!!

Oh is there ever a world of turmeric-laden sauce landing on your best white tablecloth...

headzookeeper · 04/12/2008 23:11

thank you the stain.

I am blessed I have just had a visit from one of your stainlilngs. A rather fetching purple vomit coloured one on ds3's brand new matress.
Ah well, I suppose it will add character to it.

MyDH thre up red wine all over our cream living room carpet (don't ask) and I he managed to get rid of it with copious applications of 1001 stain remover. God that was grim.

Poledra · 05/12/2008 12:30

PMSL at TheStain.

Slightly off-topic, but the black sick thing - in my younger, (more) foolish days, I thought it would be a good idea to eat a Sherbet Fountain after copious amounts of lager.

Black frothy sick....

TheStain · 05/12/2008 20:48

One of my better works, the foaming black sherbet vomit.

Am trusting you're all sticking to clear drinks this year? Christmas pudding can be awfully sticky if trodden in A Lot, and the excitement can do wonders for a little one's delicate digestive system when it's ingested a whole box of After Eights and is placed near anything cashmere...

bettythebauble · 05/12/2008 23:22

yoo-hoo, oh Stain..I offer you my husband (take him, I beg of you)... half a litre of paint on the stairs, hall, and living room carpet was his finest moment.

hold on a minute, he's already a minion, isn't he?

psychohohohoho · 06/12/2008 00:34

oo'er, that sounds a teensy bit rude
