Please tell me - are Dysons really good?

I need a new vacuum cleaner. I am a bit in the dark, but have fancied an upright Dyson for a while. Anyone have any views please?
Many thanks!

Dysons are pants - work brilliantly for a few monrths and then lose suction and chuck all the dirt back onto the floor. I have a Henry now and cleaning is great on hard floors (though not so good on my carpet) but it's very user-unfriendly, keeps getting stuck when you try to drag it round corners and I'm always swearing at it

I love my Henry, It's lasted forever and cleans so well. I really don't find it bulky. It stores really well and isn't too heavy.

I've never heard of anyone (myself included) owning a Dyson that lasted more than about 18 months!
