Laura did you do the 5 minute rescue?
Do you want some inspirational quotes? I have some in my control journal, which I haven't looked at since writing them.
What are your hotspots?
In fact what are everybody's hotspots?

grouchyoscar · 15/09/2008 17:11

Ruby it was me who asked about ebay selling.

Sadly no girl's clothes at the Grouchy's but I have some 3-4 and 4-5 coats and jackets to part company with if anyone is interested.

Dones

Ed collected from school
Make some snacks (toast with peanut butter)
Make lunches for tomorrow
Check his book bag. (he has a harder book at my request and some spellings to learn!)
Load DW

A playmate has come round so They can have til 17.30 then Ed does his homework

I have found that sticking to a bedtime routine is very useful. As everything was clean and got ready last night this morning was just autopilot. Saved stress as we were late

grouchyoscar · 15/09/2008 17:18

RB Hotspots here are flat surfaces by doors TBH. The chopping block by the main door, the little table for Ed's homework in the front room, the cabinet in the bedroom and bathroom and the chest of drawers at the top of the stairs. All get stuff left on them DH is the worst culprit. I have to take a deep breath and clear them back to where they should live

Also the kitchen table and the space where we keep the files with all the important stuff. Stuff just gets dumped on there waiting for the Putting Away Fairy to visit. x2

rowingboat · 15/09/2008 17:49

Grouchy OMG you have so many hotspots! I just fainted.
There are three here - the hall by the door where shoes/bags/coats/stuff get dumped, the dining table under and on top and the side in the kitchen where the post and junk mail get dumped.
How old is Ed? I really like that you call him Ed, it's cute! Is he Edward?
What do you make for lunch?
We usually have sandwiches and fruit, but I don't think they would keep too well.

sagacious · 15/09/2008 18:07

Quick hello from me from my bessie mates house
Internet has been down since 10 sept !
Am bereft !

Hope everyone ok

Will be back online tommorrow (so BT engineer says)

I have a v tidy house (the joys of no MN!)

lucysmam · 15/09/2008 18:34

Evening everyone

Wow! Mad that's an impressive list! I think I might have to start for next year in the Jan sales after looking how little you spent!

I'm making the xmas cakes this year it's been decided. But am a bit confused . . . how long does the fruit need soaking for? and when do you actually do the cake making part? If anyone knows?

I don't know what to do tonight, apart from work out what my money will be spent on tomorrow ! It's usually in n out so fast I don't actually know why I put it in there, apart from it's the one super expensive item I own & I like showing off it's cherry-red patent ness

Anyways, pots begging to be washed ttfn xx

BiancaCastafiore · 15/09/2008 18:35

TMH at your organised Christmas! I have a few bits and pieces stored away but not v much...must try harder...

I ended up going into work and dragging ds with me (he was quite lively actually so ratehr enjoyed a trip out of the house.) I put the computer on at work and he played on cbeebies and then did some skribbling colouring and stickers. It was nice to go in, there's loads going on this week so I am pleased I kept up with things and ds behaved like a star
He was exhausted when we came home so had a nap and has tried to eat some plain pasta for tea but says it makes his tummy hurt..I suspect it's just cos his tummy is so empty. He seems fine in himself so as long as there's no more sick he'll be back at school tomorrow.

I have done a quick whizz round putting laundry away and tidying bedrooms but nothing else has been donn at all and it shows so I will try to get back on track tomorrow

grouchyoscar · 15/09/2008 18:42

Awwwh, Bless Bianca's DS,sounds like he had a lovely day. Hope he gets well soon.

Ed was given some spellings to do today and he's just done all 10 of them! He frightens me at times

TheMadHouse · 15/09/2008 18:47

Lucys You can soak the fruit for as long as you want. I will make the cake itself before the end of october. Traditionally I think half term is often when puddings and cakes are made.

Bainca I am very proud of myself. As we are v short of money I have been getting things each month and really looking for bargains, rather than just making a list and getting it all in December.

It also helps that we made an agreement with both brothers and SILs that we would all stop buying for each other and only get the children pressies.

But it gaulls me that BIL is a ral tight arse and never gets the boys anything decent. Infact last years broke within 10 seconds of them using it They should know better my neice is 6.

Dishwasher is on - dinner was lovley.

I feel quite happy and mum has agreed to go home for the night and I will collect her in the morning. She is feeling a little better - amazing what an afternoon of being waited on can do

scattyspice · 15/09/2008 19:06

TMH!!

Lemontart · 15/09/2008 19:49

Thank you to all those who made me feel welcome this morning
I have done ok today and achieved almost all on my list. Ok with that too (suprised myself) as pleased with what I have done rather than worried about the bits I have not managed.

TMH - very envious of your organised Christmas list. WOW. You (and all the other organised souls who have posted about this )have inspired me to get Christmas started. I am going to make a start on a list this evening and trawl the net for ideas.
There are so many end of summer sales on at the moment, makes sense to take advantage of them I guess.

Re: Christmas cakes and feeding them/timing - our family has a tradition that they should be made by Halloween and fed for 2 months. No idea if this is normal, but that is the way we have always done it and fed them once a week (as much as we remember to!) Always had decent boozy cakes that are not too dry and still have plenty of flavour.

Lemontart · 15/09/2008 19:53

Know all about having a tight arse in the family too! We have a rather well paid member of the family who is just lousy at presents. I know the monetary value is not really important, but the inappropriateness of the gifts and hit and miss birthday remembering is so irritating. DD2 got an express delivery bunch of Interflora flowers one year (either when she was 2 or 3) - wtf is a toddler going to do with a bunch of carnations and roses??!!!

tortoise · 15/09/2008 20:22

Finally everything is added to photo bucket here
I think i might have a girls coat 2-3 in the loft from last winter. Will look it out for you later/tomorrow.

TMH Wow well done. I am never that organised. Actually, at the age mine are they change there mind every 5 mins about what they like/want! So mostly hard to buy too early in the year. I have 2 things so far. But have DS2's birthday to sort 1st.

Bianca Glad DS is feeling better and has been good for you today.

lucysmam · 15/09/2008 20:23

pmsl Lemontart! I love flowers but wouldn't have sent them for a lo!

Thanks all for the xmas cake info, I will invest in a bottle to soak in tomorrow & start then. Cakes will be made by end of October, fingers crossed

BiancaCastafiore · 15/09/2008 20:28

Agh! Can't seem to log onto MSN...Tort what's that Oasis cord skirt like, knee length? Would I like it?
And....do you have any old (as in they don't need to be in vgc) boys trousers in size 5/6ish which would be suitable for me to cut up to make into a pair of chaps for ds's fancy-dress cowboy outfit?

tortoise · 15/09/2008 20:44

Where did my reply go???

Anyway, Bianca Yes it is knee length. No idea if you would like it! Don't think i have any other boys trousers. Old ones got put in charity shop.

minorbird · 15/09/2008 20:45

No worries Lucysmam - the chicken was a success all around! Wish I'd made more! Rowing Boat my hotspots are the kitchen window sill, my computer desk and bedroom chair. Oh and the landing.

I've just washed up, shined the sink, laid out tommorrows clothes and have to do a bit of work now, if I can get off MN for long enough!

Have a good night everyone.

tortoise · 15/09/2008 21:00

Have added a pic of a girls coat. Only one i could find. Must have passed the others onto a friend before i packed the others away for the 'summer' lol!

tortoise · 15/09/2008 22:20

I need to find some energy to put this lot back in the cupboard! I am really tired. Must have walked over 8 miles today.

BiancaCastafiore · 15/09/2008 22:23

I might take the skirt Tort, I'll try again tomorrow to sign into MSN to talk to you - grr that I can't do it this eve. I have been trying to reply here for ages but my laptop keeps freezing up for some reason

tortoise · 15/09/2008 22:28

OK Bianca Hope it works for you tomorrow. Look forward to chatting tomorrow.
