items should be loaded "heads up", i.e. handles pointing down

there are 2 exceptions

(i) sharp knives
(ii) teaspoons that have just been used for hot drinks -- special dispensation given to avoid finger-burnage

That is tragic

Tutter - I agree wholeheartedly. Hadn't considered the teaspoon issue though. [asbestos fingers]

wabbit - I thought you and LL were one and the same (Has LL ever had a wabbitesque name??)

WilfSell · 22/07/2008 08:26

that link is one of Those Things You Wish You Never Knew As A Mother.

And here's another one I have never felt the same about gardening since a friend of mine (an intensive care nurse) told me he'd nursed a bloke who had fallen and impaled himself through the roof of his mouth on a garden cane. He'd been fine until he developed an infection in the wound which had also gone through to his brain and died within days.

Apologies in advance for being slightly flippant: I'm not at all. The cane story affected me ever since too; I'm just being my usual stupid self.

WilfSell · 22/07/2008 08:28

It's those stupid deep bowls from Habitat we have that get me every time.

And all the foldy-down flappy bits on the top rack: what are they for?

wabbit · 22/07/2008 08:32

Yes, it's thanks to Lapin that I've got Wabbit with a single 'T'
We do get mixed up... Slur wondered if I were you the other day littlelapin (she has now stapled note on forehead!

MadamAnt · 22/07/2008 08:33

Oh I see! I thought my MN universe was going a bit wobbly there for a minute

misdee · 22/07/2008 08:35

dh insists that all cuttlery should be put into seperate sections, forks in one, knives in another etc. so i like to chuck the odd spoon in with thwe forks [evil]

JackieNo · 22/07/2008 08:36

No no Misdee - you have to mix them up, so they don't 'nest' (am I too obsessed with this, I wonder?).

Ledodgy · 22/07/2008 08:37

I have to do our cutlery handles up as the ends are skinny and always fall through the holes.

Tutter · 22/07/2008 11:19

oooh! [excited]

really, ruby? we're about to move and the new tutterhole has two miele dishwashers

ExterminAitch · 22/07/2008 11:26

if you have one of these puppies you'd actually have to fold yourself into the drawer and close it in order to be impaled. oh how i love it.

WideWebWitch · 22/07/2008 11:27

I have a fabby Miele that doesn't need things putting in a stupid annoying cutlery holder that has holes in the bottom and takes up loads of space because there's a whole flat tray for cutlery on the top, tis brilliant and a revelation.

WideWebWitch · 22/07/2008 11:29

Look, cutley goes in flat at the top

WideWebWitch · 22/07/2008 11:30

Just saw RR has one of these too, might even have been her who recommended it (was amnetter), is fab.

Tutter · 22/07/2008 11:32

am hoping miele turns out to be utterly fabulous in all ways

have just bought a washing machine that was darned expensive

JackieNo, I am a fervid anti-nester too! (I sometimes wonder if we were divided at birth )
