Your mums are all better than mine. My mum's essential must-dos that I don't follow include:

Filling the bin up right to the top so that the rubbish is sticking out the top and then leaving for a week
Leaving baked beans juice etc dripping down the bin for months/years on end
Having a really stinky bin

This is a symptom of her general household good sense. It is an improvement though. Until I left home she refused to use bin liners so the bin had ick stuck to the insides constantly [boak]

Not my mum, but my stepmum:

ironing
obsessive wiping/cleaning of surfaces THE VERY MINUTE they've been used
having the entire front of the fridge plastered with ugly fridge magnets
keeping the house stuffed full of rank and tasteless nicknacks
having net curtains
having a pantry full of kitchen gadgets that have been bought, used twice and boxed up never to be seen again
spending her life chained to the household chores but never doing anything other than moaning about it

My friend and her parents had a stand off for 5 years - from aged 15 until she left home .....

It was her job to hoover, but the hoover didn't work properly. They said when she hoovered more often, they would buy a new one - she said when they bought a new one she would start hoovering again, SO NOBODY HOOVERED FOR 5 YEARS!

doing washing to a schedule (ie towles on a monday, darks on a tuesday, bedclothes on a wednesday, etc)

Other than that she's pretty relaxed really.

Eating off solid silver cutlery at every meal.

Not putting saucepans and serving dishes in the dishwasher (though my DP is gradually convincing her, through lots of demos and leg-pulling).

Having lunch on the dot of 1pm.

Not throwing out herbs and spices when they have passed their sell-by date.

Pinktulips I can beat you hands down. My mum recently found a curry powder pot with an expiry date of 1984.

She doesn't cook much curry.

She also tried to give me paracetamol from 1995.

My mum is a strange woman.
She irons pants/hankies/teatowels/towels.
She refuses point blank to have a mop and scrubs kitchen floor with a sponge ( I do it every so often for a deep clean, but every day )
Refuses to have a kitchen bin on hygeine grounds (uses carrier bags - eco friendly I suppose)
but
she never puts things back in the fridge. Mayo/butter/prawns left on top of the fridge overnight . Because apparently there is no room. Well if she'd take out the packets of lard that have been in there for years that would free up a little space. She has bottles and bottles of water in there (I am assuming one at a time would suffice really) She lives alone. I have DH and 2 kids. If I can fit our weeks shopping in our fridge why can't she?

sweeping the kitchen floor five times a day. Also washing it about twice a day.

Needing a clean kitchen before she can have her breakfast in the morning. Even if the mess id only from us lot having our breakfast!!!

Washing up nd puting away perfectly clean mugs that you've just got out and put by the kettle while you wait for the water to boil for a nice cup of tea.

Having white sofas with washable covers that get washed and ironed once a fortnight due to cats and grandson's sticky fingers (oops)
