What name labels for children's stuff?

I didn't know where to post this, but thought that if I carry losing the kids' stuff, I wouldn't be a good housekeeper

What companies have you used? Did the labels really remained on the uniforms after many washings? Was it good value for money?

i bought a huge batch from ebay with just our surname on for under a fiver a good idea if you have 2 children is to buy the labels like this ......say the children are called peter and kate brown order labels that go

K.Brown.P for katie sew them in K.Brown for peter sew them in Brown.P- double the use same price

forgot to say sew in ones are the only ones worth buying imo

Able-labels - sew-in as well, so no problem with them coming off. Much cheaper than replacing the lost property!

easy2name - you get a MN discount as well. I've always been very pleased with them

I got iron-on ones from GLTC and have found them to be brilliant. DS has a hoody which is 18 month old and gets washed all the time - label is still perfect.

Laundry marker, write on label in jumper etc.

I forgot to add that both my children have the same initial. I didn't know when we chose their names that we would be saving a few pounds

i have some iron on ones i bought in the local school shop they are naff! come out after a couple of washes!
i'm going to get soome sew in ones this year, i had some when ds first started achool and they were brill, just cant remmeber where i got them

Here is a good trick when you order Cash?s name tapes.

If you have 2 children put their initials at either end with the last name in the middle. Include 2 spaces between the initial and the last name so for John and Ben Smith you get a label that looks like this:

J Smith B

Then just cut off the appropriate end when you sew it in. 2 labels for the price of one.

(Or get a job at GLTC and order some for a photo sample!)

At the end I found that the cheapest place for name labels is........ Asda!
I ordered 36 woven nametapes for £2.50. There is also 144 x £5.90, but I 'll see the quality with this first batch.

I still need to find the labels for things such as lunch bags. I'll check the websites that you have used. Thanks

For non clothing items- water bottles, pencil cases,plastic folders ,shoes etc I buy the adhesive vinyl labels from Identity Direct.They stay on ages and survive the dishwasher although they fade in shoes.

For jumpers,coats and DDs skirts which I can put in charity shop I use Cashs sew in.

For shirts,blouses, pants,socks and DS's trousers ( fit for the bin by thend of term!), I use a write on laundry pen.

BTW Identity Direct are good but take forever to deliver. I think they are sent from Australia or NZ

Able labels for the woven labels, I tend to do just surname as it is not very common.

Stuck on you for shoe labels, stickers and iron on name tapes that I use to stick on the washing care labels on things like fleeces.

I have used www.minilabels.co.uk for all three kids over the years. Their iron on aren't the cheapest but they certainly stay put if you follow the directions properly. Can also recommend the shoe stickers and the dishwashable stickers. I have also used their "mini-tag" system to use up a supply of woven sew ons (great way to label bags/pencilcases etc ) that I ordered before realising I was too lazy iron on was easier and quicker

What is the best to you- iron on OR sew on? All new to me as I have 3 under 3 and unsure which is the best... 1st wee one is now going to nursery in Setpember and looking to buy some but need advice 1st----thank you :o)

Can iron on ones be removed easy?-as the uniform may fit my other little one next year as a spare lol

no they dont remove easily but I just iron a new one over the top of the old one. I re-used polo shirts for ds that dd had before and just put his iron on label over the top of the one she had.
