What do you do with clothes that have been worn but aren’t dirty?

A lot of the clothes in our house don’t get dirty enough to need a wash after one wear but I wouldn’t put them back in with the clean clothes. If I put them in the ironing basket on hang them on the back of the door they need ironing again. It drives me mad as they hang around for a couple days then need washing again as they don’t feel clean enough to wear any more.

I hang mine on a coat stand next to the wardrobe

Epicuriouss · 21/04/2026 20:51

I put them back where they belong until I wear them again.

raysofhope · 21/04/2026 20:52

Leave them on my bedroom chair

Walkacrossthesand · 21/04/2026 20:53

I don’t mind them going back in the wardrobe, but I often hang them inside out (like they came off) to remind me they’ve had a wearing already!

APatternGrammar · 21/04/2026 20:54

I don’t put them away to avoid attracting moths. They are folded on a chair. If I won’t wear them again soon I wash them straight away, unless they are jeans

italianlondongirl · 21/04/2026 20:59

If they’re not dirty or smelly, why not put them back with clean clothes… essentially they’re still clean!

Why would putting them away attract moths!? This is completely new to me

CoastalCalm · 21/04/2026 21:00

Chairdrobe

CarlaLemarchant · 21/04/2026 21:03

They live in the corner whilst I decide whether to wear them again or put them in the wash.

seazon · 21/04/2026 21:05

I have a floordrobe ladder hanging thingy

They are apparently drawn to the nutrients in the stuff you leave on your clothes when you wear them. It would be more convenient for it not to be true as I’d rather put them away. But I’ve never found a different answer looking it up.

xanthomelana · 21/04/2026 21:07

They get welcomed by the chair in my spare room.

mcmuffin22 · 21/04/2026 21:08

Chair of doom.

InWithPeaceOutWithStress · 21/04/2026 21:09

Fold them and place on my chest of drawers or put back in wardrobe.

TheyGrewUp · 21/04/2026 21:09

Put inside out on a hanger and hung outside the wardrobe until the weekend. Wardrobes have moth sachets on them and cedar blocks.

HayuBingeWatcher · 21/04/2026 21:09

Hoodies get draped over chairs/hung in the coat cupboard or on the banister until I tidy up every day
back in the wardrobe unless I think it’s not clean, I wash everyday so not a problem
back in the day when there was 5 of us… sniff and stash

Loutropolis · 21/04/2026 21:13

Inside out and back in the drawer!

MMAMPWGHAP · 21/04/2026 21:13

About 35 years ago I had my colours & style assessed by a lovely (French) Colour Me Beautiful stylist. She advised that to prolong the life of garments you should air them and then ok to put back in wardrobe to rewear. (Obviously if not smelly, stained etc). So I have a set of hooks where I hang garments for 24 hours then they go back in wardrobe.
Am also a big fan of Pitrok or similar crystal deodorant which does not leave a smell on clothes.

parkezvous · 21/04/2026 21:28

I leave them to air somewhere for a day then put them back in the wardrobe. I haven’t got a huge amount of clothes so I remember what’s been worn etc

Chocolatecoffeecup · 21/04/2026 21:30

I hang them on a chair in the spare room if likely to wear them again the next day or I put them back in the drawer but I fold them rather than roll them so I can tell they've been worn. I don't wear t shirts more then once but I will wear vests, jumpers and trousers, which doesn't make much sense. I think it's the underarm contact.

Butterme · 21/04/2026 21:39

I have a cheap clothes rail that I hang them up on.

That’s what I do too

Usedoccasionally · 21/04/2026 21:42

I put them on a chair but try to wear again within a day or two and then they head to the wash pile . Wool jumpers I try not to wash too often and air and rehang

B0D · 21/04/2026 21:44

mine are strewn around the house on various chairs or over the bannister rail at the top of the stairs. Some things hang back in the wardrobe. Wool Jumpers go back in the drawer until Spring when they are washed and stored in anti moth bags. I live alone and don't really care about mess

WhatCanIWatchOnNetflix · 21/04/2026 21:44

I hang them in a different part of the wardrobe.
