How do you cook scrambled eggs

I gave up trying to clean the saucepan which is stuck with egg , there must be a way to cook without sacrificing a pan everytime .

I use a small non stick frying pan, heat up some butter, crack the eggs directly into the pan, whisk over a low heat until they’re done to my liking (still wet), add salt and another knob of butter when done and then pour onto a plate (or whatever you’re eating them on or from!).

titchy · 19/04/2026 18:53

Non-stick pan, tablespoon of butter. Residue comes off easily.

wossisthen · 19/04/2026 18:54

Yeah i bought a small non stick ninja pan as was fed up of the saucepan goop

FourChimneys · 19/04/2026 18:57

I don't cook scrambled egg but I think DH just uses a small frying pan. Perhaps he puts a bit of milk or butter in too, I'm not sure. Either way I haven't noticed anything which is difficult to clean.

Ditto this - a decent non-stick pan and you can just wipe it out with some kitchen roll.

I used to work for a family who used to make scrambled eggs in a stainless steel pan and the egg was welded to the pan, even soaking it all day didn't help.

PersephonePomegranate · 19/04/2026 18:58

I use a wok!

This is my method aswell, but I don't use butter, only the eggs, cracked straight into the pan and use a spatula to mix and move them around. I like mine soft too, and have been known to add grated cheese if I feel like it. A good heavy bottom non stick pan is essential, mines a Tefal and is perfect for this.

SemmaLina · 19/04/2026 18:59

Yep , as above
Small non stick frying pan
More butter than you think you need
Nice fresh eggs , cracked and whisked
More salt and pepper than you think
Move constantly with spatula or spoon
Don't over cook , turn off heat before they’re ready , as they carry on cooking

Always run cold water on the pan that's cooked the eggs. Scrambled eggs carry on "cooking" after they are removed from the heat. So if you run hot water on the pan, it just cooks what's left there even more.

Bluegreenbird · 19/04/2026 19:00

5 days a week. Non stick mini pan.Non issue.

APatternGrammar · 19/04/2026 19:01

I use a stainless steel pan but you have to heat it up for quite a while before adding oil/butter. Then it doesn’t really stick. There are videos online of how to test with drops of water whether it’s hot enough

Scrambled eggs are an argument in favour of the microwave.

One teaspoon water per egg, approx 45seconds on high per egg. Stop every 15 or 20 sec to stir and check progress.

Watch them like a hawk. The progress from ideal wetness to spongy horror is only seconds.

Flushitdown · 19/04/2026 19:23

Low and slow. They take about 15 minutes to cook and don't leave residue. Going to make some now!

Doggymummar · 19/04/2026 19:28

In a jug in the microwave 90 seconds whisk, then in ten seconds bursts till you're happy

Edited

And then the jug goes in the dishwasher.

likelysuspect · 19/04/2026 19:31

Non stick frying pan

Eggs, cream, butter, salt, pepper mixed up in a jug

Butter melted in the pan

Mixture poured in the pan

Gentle heat and take off when it looks like its not quite done

Butter some toast

Put eggs on the toast.

LotusMandala · 19/04/2026 19:33

Defo microwave them.

beat the life out of them, add a dash of milk and a knob of butter. Give them 45 seconds then blast them 10 seconds at a time, whisking each time.

fluffy, soft, perfect eggs way better than a pan

fiorentina · 19/04/2026 19:40

Small non stick pan, butter, plenty of stirring with wooden spoon.

hattie43 · 19/04/2026 19:49

Thankyou everyone , off to buy a small non stick pan .

schnubbins · 19/04/2026 19:55

Rinse the pan with water before sing .Same goes for boiling milk.

rightoguvnor · 19/04/2026 20:22

I bought a cheapest Tesco non stick saucepan and it’s reserved for heating up milky things (my other saucepans are ProCook Gourmet so no way do I want them marked).
I pay close attention to stirring during cooking and immediately the eggs are decanted I douse the saucepan in cold water which, I think, causes the residue to contract swiftly away from the sides. After eating the eggs when I go back to the saucepan the residue just peels off.

I crack directly into the pan too, but everyone thinks I'm a weirdo for not whisking in a bowl first! I've tried it both ways and not seen a difference in taste/texture so I'd rather save on the washing up!

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 19/04/2026 20:30

Get the pan really hot first then add the butter and eggs.

Or get a non stick pan.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 19/04/2026 20:30

Get Butter, melt it, add 2 beaten eggs. Heat up mixture until it scrambles (becomes sort of hardish soft. Then tip onto toast and top with black pepper and eat.

Isobel201 · 19/04/2026 20:44

Non stick frying pan, I use olive oil in a spray bottle, and heat it up, then add the eggs and fluff up with the back of a fork.
