I gave up trying to clean the saucepan which is stuck with egg , there must be a way to cook without sacrificing a pan everytime .

Like pp a non stick pan is your friend. Generous knob of butter I crack the eggs directly into the pan and stir with a wooden spatula. Salt pepper and a little more butter at the end.

Stir all the time

Defo microwave them.

beat the life out of them, add a dash of milk and a knob of butter. Give them 45 seconds then blast them 10 seconds at a time, whisking each time.

fluffy, soft, perfect eggs way better than a pan

Pretty much what I do, only I don't put butter but I do put a touch of salt. Must try it your way!

gracioushoratio · 19/04/2026 21:33

I use mashed avocado instead of butter - they're awesome.

Oleoreoleo · 19/04/2026 21:38

After you take them off, turn the heat up and let the residue crisp up, then pour a small amount (<100mls) of cold water onto the hot pan.

It’s the same technique you’d use after cooking a steak to make a gravy (deglazing) though I don’t recommend eggy sauce. All the bits stuck to the pan will come up with a few passes of the spatula. You can carefully wipe it off with a bit of kitchen roll, or rinse it off.

Don’t use too much cold water as you’re not trying to thermally shock the pan which can warp it. I never soak egg yolk as it only makes things work and you could be scrubbing it for hours and still find more. This works much better.

I switched to Ninja ceramic pans after watching that Panorama programme about non stick, I assumed they’d be a bit rubbish (but less toxic) but they’re bloody brilliant, least stick pans I’ve ever had, scrambled egg doesnt stick at all.

Oleoreoleo · 19/04/2026 21:42

I don’t recommend a non stick pan because sooner or later that coating ends up in your food. Sooner if you’re fluffing egg either a fork.

BlakeCarrington · 19/04/2026 22:01

God I’d love scrambled eggs on toast now, these descriptions are so tantalising. Lots of butter and black pepper 😋. Got no eggs in though dammit

WonderingAndOverthinking · 19/04/2026 22:21

I bought a small non-stick pan that is reserved only for scrambling/frying eggs. OH is strictly forbidden to use it after he wrecked my only non-stick pan using a metal fork to cook minced beef…. 🙄

FettchYeSandbagges · 19/04/2026 22:25

Glass jug and the microwave every time. Zap for 20 seconds, jiggle with a fork and zap again. Repeat until done. I like scrambled egg bouncy anyway, not keen on it all soft.

Arlanymor · 19/04/2026 22:31

Non-stick pan to cook, no other ingredients needed but the eggs and maybe a twist of pepper. Put them in a bowl and give them a bloody good beating. They've been bad! Then cold pan start and warm up to middle heat with the eggs in and keep pushing them into middle with your wooden/silicon spatula, all the way around, like you are encouraging them to stay in the centre and then you'll have a lovely little mountain of yellow (not grey or white!) scrambled eggs in the middle.

CoastalCalm · 19/04/2026 22:40

Tiny knob of butter into a frying pan , crack three eggs in and stir - I prefer them with bits of white and yolk visible rather than completely whisked

Thankyou everyone , off to buy a small non stick pan .

I got a perfect one person pan from Lidl this week. I think they called it a wok but it's not "wok shaped" to me. Anyway, it was £3.99, it's non stick and it is perfect.

IvyTwines · 19/04/2026 23:08

The Box of Delights' "Time and tide and buttered eggs wait for no man" is apparently about scrambled eggs (not eggs chopped up in a cup) so I started adding more butter when I make them, and they're much nicer - don't have the heat low though or you'll end up with something like Hollandaise. I use a silicone spatula, moving it quickly - a fork will damage your pan.

Ihaveaskedyouthrice · 20/04/2026 21:51

Microwave definitely, so easy and no messy pot after.

Crwysmam · 20/04/2026 21:59

I use a double boiler porringer. It still adheres to the pan but doesn’t burn and easy to clean in the dish washer.
I like soft scramble so it gives better control, unlike the microwave where if you cook it a couple of seconds too long and it’s like a block of foam.

The porringer is also brilliant for sauces and the lower pan I use for small quantities of veg or to boil eggs.

MoonWoman69 · 20/04/2026 22:26

Melt butter in a non stick frying pan, add beaten eggs, use a rubber spatula to stir them round until they're just set. Haven't used an ordinary pan in years, was fed up of them sticking!

outerspacepotato · 21/04/2026 17:47

Carbon steel pan. Whip the eggs. Add a little dab of cream cheese and whatever else you put in your eggs and seasonings. Melt butter in pan on medium heat, pour in eggs, and move from edge in with fork at 12, 6, 3, 9, 2, 8, 10, 4 and agitate pan while doing this. Keep going, constant motion from edges into center until eggs cooked just a little under how you like. Slide onto plate, add garnish, and there you go.

If I'm using mushrooms, I cut those up and saute in the melted butter first. They saute quickly.

CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwich · 21/04/2026 17:59

I use a non-stick frying pan…it literally slides out leaving no mess. Game changer!! 👌🏻

Jellybean23 · 21/04/2026 20:53

I butter a glass bowl, beat the eggs in the bowl, add milk and seasoning and put in the microwave on high. Stir well after each thirty seconds until cooked.
