Please help save my sink

We got an amazing new kitchen 18 months ago but the sink is really stressing me out. It is already so stained and not sure it is salvageable.

I have been using Cif Cream with a brush, it helps somewhat with the majority but then it always comes back and there are now some stained areas that remain so no matter what I do. I also wonder whether the brush may have damaged the surface so it is getting even worse? I am not sure.

Please please tell me this is salvageable somehow!

Cif and bleach. Leave it, wipe with soft cloth and rinse

Ohfudgeoff · 17/02/2026 21:31

Try Pink stuff?

PennyPugwash · 17/02/2026 21:32

Bar keepers friend. I have a white sink also. You’ll be amazed

citreous · 17/02/2026 21:33

Definitely Bar Keepers Friend.

ValenciaOrange · 17/02/2026 21:33

I soak kitchen roll in plenty of thick bleach and drape over all the sink surfaces and leave overnight.

Lovemybunnies · 17/02/2026 21:35

A couple of inches of water with some bleach in and soak for an hour or so.

ARunnerwithNoShoes · 17/02/2026 21:37

Off to google bar keepers friend, sounds promising!

Amazed at the bleach suggestions! I am somehow always wary of using bleach and it damaging surfaces, I only ever use it in toilets. Can't believe the answer was staring me in the face this whole time.

Thanks all!

Sodium percarbonate

BeckyBloom · 17/02/2026 22:19

Bleach obviously! Or I get little grey scratches on my white sink and pink stuff cream takes them off.

Emotionalsupporttissue · 17/02/2026 22:25

Fill with a couple of inches of water and add washing powder, leave overnight, it brings my sink up lovely and makes the kitchen smell nice.

BerryandMight · 17/02/2026 22:26

I have a white granite sink that stains really easily. These have saved my sanity as I hated my sink before. I just use with warm water, sometimes a little washing up liquid

BerryandMight · 17/02/2026 22:27

Picture wouldn't upload. It's Magic Erasers by Buzz. I buy them in Boyes aka Harrods of the North.

whereisitnow · 20/02/2026 15:46

Bleach works but it isn’t healthy for you. Milton baby sterilising fluid works just as well.

Our cleaner at work swears by Bar Keepers Friend. He even uses it on mirrors

Mossstitch · 20/02/2026 15:56

I use one of those spray bleaches on mine once or twice a week, very little is needed, I probably only buy once a year, the stains disappear in seconds.

Hvnisabook · 20/02/2026 16:02

Yep, bleach works every time. I would wager it’s tea/coffee stains. If you do indeed tip coffee of tea dregs down the sink regularly, try emptying them directly into the dishwasher just as you put the mugs/cups in there, it’ll reduce the issue a little for you. The other culprit is pasta sauce type residue. Honestly bleach is great.

MabelAnderson · 20/02/2026 16:47

If it’s a resin/composite type of sink then bleach can cause yellowing. If it’s an enamel sink then you can use bleach. What is it made of OP ?

This. I was scrolling through to see if anyone had mentioned this. If it's a Reginox sink like mine, which it looks like, then bleach will cause the stains. Use washing up liquid or mild spray detergent. I have been recommended Pink Stuff but don't scrub too hard as you will destroy the surface making it more prone to staining. The best advice is not to leave anything potentially staining in it (dregs of tea, chocolate crumbs, tomato sayces) rinse the sink and wipe with a cloth.

Shadeflower · 20/02/2026 17:00

I agree bleach is the answer.

MidnightMeltdown · 20/02/2026 17:02

I have a white sink like that. Bleach works.
