Currently have a Dyson, it is so heavy and won’t go under the bed due to the ball thing. Nightmare doing the stairs.

Really hoping for some inspiration here. I'm in exactly the same place 🤔

We have a Miele CX1. Lovely and light for carrying up and down stairs and as long as you keep the filters clean has great suction.

Only2daystogo · 27/12/2025 11:43

I use my hand held hoover on the stairs.

TheGirlattheBack · 27/12/2025 11:52

Robot hoover (Eufy L60) for all the floors including under beds and sofas. Then Dyson stick for the stairs.

Can't beat a good old fashioned Henry.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/12/2025 12:55

I bought a Shark Stratos corded , it folds in half for storage and the hinge mechanism means it bends to go under the bed .
The top bit lifts off to become a hand held with a crevice tool and a rotating stairs brush

It has the anti hair wrap .
Cannot remember how much it weighs but not heavy and less than a cordless would be - reviews on the cordless are pretty negitive about the battery life )

Really pleased though I had a Shark before that just dumped a handful of grit when it switched off .

It just says CX1 boost. It's white with some red trim. It's about 4-5 years old now. Would possibly have been the cat and dog version as our previous vacuum before that was the cat and dog bagged version.

Thank you for your recommendation. The hinge looks great for under the bed!

We have a Hetty pet. As a cleaner I use many different types of vacuum cleaner.. Still prefer mine

chocciebiscuits · 27/12/2025 13:09

Can't recommend Vax enough. We had an expensive Dyson cordless vacuum before and it was rubbish! Now we have the Vax home pro cordless and can't recommend it enough. Used Vax for last 4yrs and their customer service is excellent too

I've had a shark pet for 2 is years and it's been fine! 8t never dumps out grit or anything like that. I have long hair but lost most of it Sad which was shit. But my vacuum coped admirably! It's not a stratos, it's the cheaper one.

I totally agree. We have a house and are 78/80 years old. We have a basic Henry with rotary head for carpets, plus a long hose so we can do the stairs without taking Henry up. In the bedrooms we have a very old Dyson ball, so no carrying vacuums up and down. We have found both very efficient.

Changingplace · 27/12/2025 21:36

I got a Shark lift away/detect pet one a few months ago and it’s great, you can detach the hose and the main body of it to do the stairs.

EeewDavid12 · 27/12/2025 21:40

we have a shark cordless. you can bend it for under furniture. i like the ID feature so it’ll increase suction when it detects more dirt. you can also insert a freshener in the regular attachment to make the carpet smell nice.

I have a Miele C2 which has a stair/brush attachment which is ok. Most of the time I use a carpet brush / scraper on the stairs though, very effective and no need to drag anything with me.

Flibbertyfloo · 27/12/2025 22:41

I bought a cordless Samsung for doing the stairs. It's so good my Miele upright hasn't come out of the cupboard once in 18 months. I use it for everything and we have two hairy dogs.
