What is the best food processor?

scarletwidow · 04/08/2025 08:49

I've only ever had cheap ones where the blade has got blunt quite quickly.

I'm getting a new kitchen and would like to treat myself to a really good food processor that will last.

I don't need loads of attachments, but a mini one won't be enough.

I already have a Kitchen Aid mixer - should I go for the Kitchen Aid food processor as well, or is a Magimix better?

Update: MNHQ have now pulled together our current shortlist here - Best food processors UK, which includes top picks, pros/cons and prices checked regularly. We hope it’s helpful! Flowers

I really rate Kenwood. Had a K-Mix that lasted about 15 years and replaced it last year with a Multipro which I’m really impressed with so far.

PluckyChancer · 04/08/2025 12:53

I’ve had my magimix over 20 years and my friend stupidly gave hers away to her DIL and then had to go out and buy herself a new one as she missed it too much. 😂

Ladedahlia · 04/08/2025 12:57

Magimix.

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 04/08/2025 12:58

My magimix is over 20 years old too. Used regularly, no issues at all. I suppose 20 years ago things were built to last.

Mrsbunnychops · 04/08/2025 13:22

Magimix all the way! Had mine over 20 years! Blades and motor still great

Peridot1 · 04/08/2025 13:29

@scarletwidow - where are you? I’m about to sell my red Kitchen Aid food processor as it’s too much for what we need. Also have the separate juicing attachments which I have never used.

Iliveonabighill · 04/08/2025 13:50

I love my magimix BUT it is a pain to wash. I have no other experience of other food processors so can't compare.
When I use my magimix, the food splashes upwards, over the underside of the lid, and all the little funnel bits, so that every piece needs to be washed. It all goes in the dishwasher but takes up most of the top rack.
Also when I mix something liquid in one of the smaller bowls, it drips down the outside of the smaller bowl and into the bigger bowl, which creates more washing.

Ineffable23 · 04/08/2025 13:52

I have a food processor attachment for my Kenwood chef. Is that an option for a KitchenAid or does it have to be a totally separate gadget?

TerrierCollector · 04/08/2025 13:52

My Cuisinart has been going strong for almost two decades now, and it's still as good as it ever was.

I don't put mine in the dishwasher as it ruins the spring mechanism in the bowl handle. I have gone through several already even though I now handwash them.

SleepingisanArt · 04/08/2025 13:57

Kenwood! I've had mine since I was a student (late 1980s) and both daughters bought Kenwoods when they needed food processors a couple of years back. I just stick all the parts in the dishwasher (as do they).

NeverDropYourMooncup · 04/08/2025 13:58

The only reason I have a new Magimix is because an ex took the one I'd bought secondhand in 1995 - it was probably made around 1982 at the latest.

DD2's partner is a professional chef. This may or may not be related to her suggestion that I make sure it goes to her when I pop my clogs in 20-30 years' time.

TeaAndStrumpets · 04/08/2025 14:06

I gave my very old Magimix 2800s to my adult daughter years ago, and it is still going strong. I have since had a Cuisinart which I can't buy a replacement bowl for, and a Kitchen Aid which had a faulty lid part and also I can't get one in the UK.

Recently I found a new in box 1980s era Magimix on eBay for £80 and couldn't press "buy it now" fast enough! It isn't fancy but it just works. If I need to I can buy spares even for this ancient model.

So I would say, Magimix.

Cross post! They are an heirloom.

Kitchen aid! Best one Ive had

StillSmallVoice · 04/08/2025 14:18

I have a Sage and it is very good. Was tossing up between that and the Magimix and glad I went for the Sage. (Sage is the UK brand name for Breville everywhere else)

Thank you so much for the offer but red would totally clash with my new kitchen colour scheme.

Magimix definitely seems like the winner so far!

The new bowl doesn’t do this ( bought the new design about three years ago when the eighteen year old bowl developed a crack, so glad it did). The motor is still fine 🫰🏻

OP, My first Magimix lasted for more than thirty years, I left it behind in France because the cord was wobbling where it met the base ( and I had one in England anyway), my NDN claimed it gleefully, he reckoned he could repair it and I believe he has.

If you buy a Magimix, make sure you buy the slicing discs at the same time, it is cheaper than buying them later. The spares people if you need any are very responsive, which is another reason to choose them.

NotMeNoNo · 04/08/2025 15:06

I would just get a branded one like a Kenwood or Magimix where you can buy the new blade for it if you need it. You don't need to throw the whole machine away because one part needs replacing then.

Horseapples · 04/08/2025 15:08

Ive had my magimix for 26 years!

scarletwidow · 04/08/2025 15:48

Thanks everyone - Magimix ordered!

Which one did you go for?

Ladedahlia · 04/08/2025 17:26

I have my mother in laws old one. It’s about 20 years old!
