How do you clean your airfryer?

DillyBonks · 17/06/2025 15:10

I wipe my airfryer out after every use, and use a scrub pad to go a bit deeper, but it still looks stained around the fan.

It’s getting used 3 times a day.

How can I keep my beloved air fryer spotlessly clean?

I saw this reel today where someone pours boiling water in it, with a dishwasher pod, and then puts it onto 'cook' for a few minutes 🤣 It did look quite good after but I've not tried it (YET)

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 17/06/2025 16:38

The fan?
What kind do you have?
I clean the duel baskets with a battery operated brush and some fairy liquid .. do not put in dishwasher.

goldfishbowl2025 · 17/06/2025 16:39

Yes mine looks burnt or rusty

greengreyblue · 17/06/2025 16:41

I wash the draw after every use either by hand or in dishwasher. I wipe the element ( no fan) probs once a week but I don’t use lots of fat in there.

I do this but just with washing up liquid, the soapy steam really does a great job, mine still looks like new 3 years later

I use a silicone tray for veggies which I stick in the dishwasher. Sometimes I used a small metal non stick baking tray

otherwise after use I stick the basket in the sink with washing up and hit water let it sit for a while then wipe clean

I have a Ninja which super easy to clean

I’ve had mine months, use all the time and it looks like practicing like new

I might do this to make sure the heating element and top are cleaned

Mymanyellow · 17/06/2025 16:45

It’s one if the reasons I dont use mine much. Can’t be arsed to clean it.

A lot easier than cleaning an oven.

jazzybelle · 17/06/2025 16:49

Dishwasher.

Mancity08 · 17/06/2025 16:50

I have the ninja dual stack

i just can’t get at the back as I’m scared because the fans there and maybe electric??
it’s a mess, stained that I can’t get off even tried
fairy no soak
good job it’s at the back 😀

I think this is a massive design fault from Ninja

LizzieSiddal · 17/06/2025 16:52

My ninja dual fan is also stained. I find it worrying in case it catches fire! You can’t clean it because it’s an electric element.

BashfulClam · 17/06/2025 16:56

I use liners so probably clean the drawers every week. Wipe over with elbow grease to take any greasy residue off (if you don’t use elbow grease I suggest you get the yellow spray it cuts through all the sticky grease in the kitchen brilliantly). Then I leave them with boiling water and washing up liquid to soak. I wipe the element with a slightly damp non scratch scourer (gently). Then wipe the inside and outside with a damp cloth. It still looks new after almost a year and it is used daily.

flowerbiithc · 17/06/2025 17:07

Pop a bit of boiling water in add some fairy dish soap cook on high for 5 mins. Swish drain wipe and rinse! Looks pristine!

greengreyblue · 17/06/2025 17:11

It’s no different to washing a frying pan.

FishPie2 · 17/06/2025 17:18

Elbow Grease Airfryer Spray for the inside trays and wipe out the pans then soak the pans in Soda Crystals, a little washing up liquid and boiling water every week.
I also put the inside trays in the dishwasher when I think about it.

Air fryer spray is a gimmick. Just wash it like you do other pans and trays! 🙄

dogcatkitten · 17/06/2025 17:38

It's the cavity the basket goes in that's the problem, electric element and fan that you don't really want to damage and are very fiddly to clean around. Baskets are easy just take out and wash however you like.

greengreyblue · 17/06/2025 17:43

Just wipe over the fan after use with a soapy cloth.

DillyBonks · 17/06/2025 18:28

Yes, I’ve got a Ninja stack. Baskets etc. are day to clean. It’s the cavity that I’m struggling to clean.

I put the drawers in the dishwasher (made sure I bought a dishwasher safe air fryer) I wipe the inside of the actual machine with kitchen floor wipes as they are thick and really get the dirt off.

goldfishbowl2025 · 17/06/2025 18:42

we can’t be cooking chemicals!

I don't find it a gimmick, it cleans the trays better than other products I have used.

Haven't braved that yet, but if you've been doing it this long & it's been fine I might give it a go, if necessary. Last I looked the element & the top still looked like new,

as for the rest I use silicon liners (now) as cleaning the actual drawers was a nightmare as the olive oil would build up in the nooks & crannies of the rubber bits on the trays (to lift off the bottom of the drawer.

since my stroke. Lots of things are harder to manage, cleaning the 🤬air fryers drawers was one of them. The silicon liners have made a world of difference for me .

I don't know what your fry pan is like. But mine doesn't have a grill tray with rubber feet to protect the sides 😂
