Getting blood stains out of clothes

DD leaked through into her fave pyjamas and DH just stuck them through the wash. Usually I’d rinse and put something on to treat the stain. Now they’ve gone through a warm wash but also the tumble drier, so I don’t know if the stain will be set in or if there’s anything that can save them?

@MyRootinTootinBaby I know you’ve used Elbow Grease spray but the laundry soap bar is so much better. It saved several pairs of dried on blood stained Knickers/pyjama bottoms/bed sheets etc. Soap in lukewarm water with a table spoon of biological powder in for 20 minutes, removed place on draining board and rub the Elbow Grease laundry bar over the stain and like magic it lifts off the fabric, it’s £1 a bar in The Range, Savers type places and is so much better at stain removal than anything else I’ve tried.

I’ve never seen hydrogen peroxide for sale in the UK. I’ve seen it in the US.

It's sold in pharmacies. You may have to ask the pharmacist for it.

It's fun to use because it bubbles up when you pour it on. I've had great luck using it to get out blood. Including on a thirty year old stain.

Bio-tex prewash used to be the best thing for this - lots of enzymes and no bleaching. You can't buy it in this country any more so it is worth picking some up if you are passing through the Netherlands

Edited

You can buy it off amazon in big bottles.

It is brilliant for any organic stains. I got some 25 year old rabbit pee stains out of a cream carpet after trying all the carpet cleaning products, and including hiring a carpet cleaner machine.

Napisan is brilliant for stains.

I still have a small amount of Biotex saved for dire emergencies!
Dd has tasked her Norwegian friend to bring some Bach with her when she goes home next.

A precious present.

It is like gold dust 😆

Thanks, I’d not even heard of this.

I use this sort of bar for collars and cuffs and all stubborn stains like cat's and dog's dirty paws. Household soap is very similar.

For dried in blood, before it’s washed, soak for a few hours in cold water and salt. DD1 had a leak all over her jeans which she didn’t tell us about - just dumped them in the wash basket and left them to fester for a week until we did the laundry the following weekend. I soaked them for maybe 5 hours, then popped them through the wash and it all came out completely.
