Beko dishwasher? Any good? Bosch broken after 2 years!

Hi all,

Interested in any opinions on Beko dishwashers.

We have a Bosch, which I thought was a good brand, but the heat pump has broken down after 2 years and 1 month. We do use it a lot, but it is treated well and actually still looks brand new. It’s literally weeks out of warranty.

I can’t really see the point in paying in the region of £500-600+ for a replacement Bosch dishwasher when you can get a Beko one for half that price. Is there anything the Beko is missing? Why is it half the price of the Bosch?

Beko DVN04X20W is what I’m thinking of for £249. I think that if the Bosch is going to require an expensive repair only 2 years in, what is the point in spending all that money on it?

Any help appreciated.

My indesit dishwashers have been brilliant. Only got rid of the last one after 8 years because the handle part had snapped off a couple of years earlier, and we moved so could fit a full size one, instead of slimline. Had the current one about 6 years so far.
I’m wary of Beko dishwashers as had seen someone online complaining about them, plus we had one of their ovens which was so useless I could put my hand flat on the oven floor when it had been on at 200 degrees for half an hour.
Their washing machines are supposed to be excellent though, according to a washing machine repair man I recently contacted about my Hotpoint (2 years and irreparable!) funnily enough he recommended Bosch or Beko washing machines.

I've had a Beko dishwasher for 13 years which is still going strong I also had a Beko fridge freezer for around that same length of time (it only had to go due to flood damage)

TeaAndStrumpets · 17/05/2025 14:38

We bought a Beko dishwasher in 2020 and it has given excellent service.

Funnily enough, it was because of a good Beko washing machine that ds has that made me consider the Beko dishwashers. I have an Indesit tumble dryer that is excellent so I will also look at their dishwashers.

RainbowZebraWarrior and TeaAndStrumpets - Thanks - your Bekos are far better than my 2 year old Bosch. I can’t believe how quickly it needs a very expensive repair.

How much to repair the Bosch?
Whatever you get, maybe try and get a 5 year warranty.
Did you contact Bosch and ask them to repair even if it's just out of warranty?

WhoStoleYourHighHorse · 17/05/2025 14:57

Long story short but we bought a Beko dishwasher early October 24. It worked for two weeks and then broke. They refused to exchange it, repeatedly missed appointments to come and look at it and sent us a fairly rude email essentially telling us to wait in line and they would get round to us in their own good time ……. which finally turned out to be in February when they did agree to replace it.
We don’t live in the UK so maybe things would be different but I will never buy Beko again.

My Beko Dishwasher is about 12 years old and still going strong. Saying that, I had to have a local engineer out a couple of months ago to replace a "switch " that had gone, that cost £70 all in and was well worth it. I also have a Beko tumble dryer, washing machine, fridge freezer and chest freezer which is in the garage. All have been totally reliable and have many of the features that the more expensive brands have.

Can't speak to dishwahers, but the only reason I have a 1 year old Beko fridge/freezer is because I was moving house and wondered just how long the nearly 20 year old Beko fridge/freezer I had would last! So I left it behind, and now have the 2024 version of the old one. My experience is that they are workhorses.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/05/2025 15:02

We used to have a slimline Beko which we had for 10.5 years and then moved to a house with an integrated one, so gave it away.

Absolutely nothing went wrong in all that time. The only thing which needed replacing was the drawer innards as they lost spokes over the years. Nothing mechanical though.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 17/05/2025 15:05

I recently bought a Bosch and it came with 5 year warranty. Does yours not?
Ive had Beko dishwashers (we’ve gone through a few dishwashers) and they last about 2-3 years. My last one Hotpoint lasted 5.

Shadesofscarlett · 17/05/2025 15:06

love Beko - am on 2nd washer and dishwasher with them. Previous ones lasted over a decade. The newest one I have has a cutlery tray separate at the top - which is fantastic. Deffo recommend one of those.

JMSA · 17/05/2025 15:09

A very well-established domestic appliance engineer in my city told me that he gets called out to Beko appliances least of all. I deduced that they must be pretty good. He’d recommend them anyway. I think we were talking dishwashers specifically, as he was on a call-out to mine (not Beko).

LindorDoubleChoc · 17/05/2025 15:11

I love my Beko! It is soooooo quiet. It has a cutlery basket and the cutlery rack on top, and the top basket can be moved up or down. On the eco wash (which we use all the time) we never get tea stains in our tea mugs. It was the top of the range model and cost £359 in 2019 so coming up to 6 years old this year and going strong.

Meredusoleil · 17/05/2025 15:16

We have both a Beko dishwasher and fridge-freezer from 2017. Both working fine bar some minor niggles related to blockages due to needing cleaning.

I have however decided not to go for Beko again as both of my appliances are deeper than other brands and stick out compared to the worktops!

SirChenjins · 17/05/2025 15:20

We had a Beko dishwasher for years, it was like a workhorse and never broke down. We only got rid of it by passing it on when we got a new kitchen and got integrated appliances - but wouldn’t hesitate to get another one.

Hohofortherobbers · 17/05/2025 15:25

Have you spoken to bosch? Regardless of warranty you have customer rights ct 2015 that protect you. Items should be fit for purpose and last a reasonable amount of time. I would expect them to repair this for you for free, they're a good company.

bedtimestories · 17/05/2025 15:30

Had a NEFF for 14 years before the heat pump went, replaced it with another NEFF still going strong 3 years later. Goes on roughly 7/8 times a week

PrincessOfPreschool · 17/05/2025 15:33

Got a hot point. It's been amazing but only had it for 7 months. Check out the pull out cutlery drawers, love them.

Iekiso · 17/05/2025 16:07

With the Bosch warranty, it looks as though you can currently get a 5 year warranty for selected purchases. But mine was a couple of years ago and it’s definitely only a 2 year warranty that I have. I haven’t contacted them because I just think they’d either tell me to go away or they’d make me pay for an engineer visit that I’d have to wait ages for, after which I’d have to pay for a heat pump. I imagine the total cost of the engineer and the pump would be not dissimilar from the cost of the new Beko, which AO will deliver tomorrow, even though it’s Sunday.

We’ve had a Beko washing machine for 10 years, tumble drier for 6 years and the dishwasher only 1 year so far.
Absolutely no complaints about any of them.

Halstonriver · 17/05/2025 16:35

I have had a Beko dishwasher for over 12 years. Had to get a minor fault repaired in 2019 (cost around £70) but never had any other issues. I replaced my Hotpoint washing machine after 10 years with a Bosch and, like a PP, the installer told me that Beko washing machines had the least call-outs/replacements. He added I should have got one of theirs instead! (Fortunately no problems with it so far.)

Unforgettablefire · 17/05/2025 17:34

Anything made by Bosch should last more than two years does this not come under the sale of white goods act?

EveryDayisFriday · 17/05/2025 17:35

We've had Beko for years, dishwashers and fridge freezers. I think they are excellent and a good price point.

Either that or people just replace as they’re cheap enough to do that rather than repair?
