Beko dishwasher? Any good? Bosch broken after 2 years!

Hi all,

Interested in any opinions on Beko dishwashers.

We have a Bosch, which I thought was a good brand, but the heat pump has broken down after 2 years and 1 month. We do use it a lot, but it is treated well and actually still looks brand new. It’s literally weeks out of warranty.

I can’t really see the point in paying in the region of £500-600+ for a replacement Bosch dishwasher when you can get a Beko one for half that price. Is there anything the Beko is missing? Why is it half the price of the Bosch?

Beko DVN04X20W is what I’m thinking of for £249. I think that if the Bosch is going to require an expensive repair only 2 years in, what is the point in spending all that money on it?

Any help appreciated.

We have a beko dishwasher, admittedly only 18 months old, but I'm more than happy with it.
The first (and last) Bosch appliance I owned was a fridge freezer. It wasn't cheap and after only two weeks the fridge door handle broke off. When I contacted them to get it repaired I was told that the door handle was not covered under the warranty as it was 'cosmetic' and not integral to the operation of the appliance. They wanted to charge over £100 to send someone to do the job, which involved removing the inside of the door to access the handle fittings. I couldn't afford it so just used to use my fingers to break the seal whenever I needed to open the fridge. I would never spend money on another Bosch appliance. My next fridge was a Beko, which lasted well and I replaced it with another Beko when we did our kitchen a couple of years ago. Very happy with their products.

Thanks very much all - I have pressed the button to buy the Beko :)

I had the same with a bosch. Replaced the pump which cost 100 quid for the pump and an annoying couple of hours watching youtube to see how to install it…then it properly died a couple years later. You made the correct choice!

Doggielovecharlotte · 17/05/2025 18:22

I went from bosche to beko..no complaints

A new heat pump will usually cost around £125 in total - part is about £75 and about 30 mins labour. It's a very common and straightforward job for any local repairer. Extremely odd decision to write off an expensive dishwasher that's only 2 years old just because of that.

They tend to be a weak point on any dishwasher as they can overheat easily. It's often a consequence of limescale build up on the heating element, particularly if you live in a hard water area. Making sure you never let it run out of dishwasher salt and using dishwasher cleaner every 3-6 months is the key.

The local repair guy we've used said that there is no real difference in lifespan between different brands any more and you are really paying for features / noise reduction rather than any genuine build quality advantage.

My Beko dishwasher is going strong, I bought it in 2018.

deeahgwitch · 17/05/2025 18:58

I’m disappointed for you @lekiso.
My Bosch is still going strong almost 24 years down the line.
I’m tempting fate now amn’t I 😱

I don't want to put £125 into the Bosch, when I could get a new Beko for £249. As I use the dishwasher twice a day generally, something other than the heat pump will probably break soon. It will probably leak underneath like my previous Bosch. It's interesting that you refer to features and noise reduction being the source of the higher price of the Bosch - honestly, that stuff doesn't bother me at all. I just want my stuff cleaned.

I believe that the old Bosch machines are genuinely excellent quality. And silly people like me bought Bosch ones recently without realising that they just aren't anymore.

We've had a Beko dishwasher for a few years now. Like you, previously we paid a lot more for Bosch or Siemens. The Beko is noticeably a bit less robust in construction but it's worked perfectly well and I would buy again.

I just got a Bosch. Wish I’d seen this thread before. Decided to splash out over my normal Hotpoint/zanussi level. I do like the cutlery tray, it’s quiet, the door seems very robust. I’d be upset if it broke after two years!

It was a lovely machine until an expensive part broke. I would say it's better than Hotpoint and Zanussi anyway. I have used mine a lot and that's why the heat pump broke.

My zanussi caught fire, luckily I was in the house! My hotpoint kept going for about 4 years before the heat pump stopped working. I always thought beko was worse than hotpoint.

PlanetOtter · 17/05/2025 21:02

My Beko one has been going strong since 2017 (as has my cheapo Hotpoint washing machine). My mum’s Miele stuff seems to need a repair every couple of months. I’ve come to the conclusion that you don’t get what you pay for!

BeckyBloom · 17/05/2025 21:47

Had my last beko dishwasher for 11 years and current beko dishwasher for 3 although it needed a new motor 2 years ago and the guy who came to fix it said they don’t last as long anymore….

JMSA · 18/05/2025 05:11

Slightly off topic but I bought a Bosch washing machine about a year or so ago. NEVER AGAIN. The spin on it is totally pish and the clothes sometimes come out sodden, even if the machine wasn’t packed full. An extra spin will sometimes sort it, sometimes not.
The cleaning performance is good, but the spin is unreliable and awful. I’ve already had to call out Bosch once.

Under consumer law white goods should last at least 6 years.

How much to repair the Bosch?
Whatever you get, maybe try and get a 5 year warranty.
Did you contact Bosch and ask them to repair even if it's just out of warranty?

If you used it a lot , wear and tear, I would fix the Bosch.
My 8 yr old slimline dishwasher used every other day roughly, cat and I

Nothing seems great these days, my expensive Neff oven , no issues after 7 years, Bosch dishwasher 7 years, current washing machin Aeg fab, bought last year, 5 year warranty, love it,others variable Hiensce before, hated it 4 years

WhoStoleYourHighHorse · 18/05/2025 13:28

Feels like I was very unlucky with my Beko experience then. It absolutely was the appalling customer service that made me the most pissed off - the haughty disinterest in the fact that we paid them £600 for something that then didn’t work for 4 months.

Albertina1 · 23/09/2025 11:44

We bought a Beko dishwasher. Admittedly it was low priced but does not dry the dishes (they clean ok thougfh). We used rinse aid on advice from the engineer but it made not a jot of difference. The extra drying button option did nothingf whatsoever.
Do not buy a Beko dishwasher unless you want to feel wet hands emptying the dishwasher. I may have had a one-off duff machine but I don't want anyone else to feel the disappointment I have everytime I empty the dishwasher.

dementedpixie · 29/09/2025 20:07

My Bosch is about 13/14 years old and still going strong

twilightcafe · 29/09/2025 20:31

I had a Beko dishwasher that gave excellent service for years (maybe 10).
Replaced it with a similar Beko. It's not been great. Doesn't wash as well as the previous model, can't cope with avocado or peanut butter, and the salt indicator light stays on even when you've just topped up the supply.

Albertina1 · 14/10/2025 12:36

Beko washes my dishes wonderfully but it dose not dry them. Leaves them wet every time. I dread emptying my dishwasher. Wet, wet, wet.
I used the 'Extra Drying' switch - it made no difference. The engineer came out. I used rinse aid as he said - not a jot of difference.
Do not risk the disappointment. Do not buy a Beko.
