Grease stain on a new hoodie. Treated with stain stuff and washed twice. Lost cause?

Dark brown hoodie (new - a birthday present).
He got some sort of meat grease splodged down the front of it.
I rubbed in grease remover and washed it. Didn't shift.
I rubbed in much more grease remover and left it for ages and scrubbed it with very hot water. Then sent it through the wash. Still there.

Any ideas?

Have you trued Ace?

LunchtimeNaps · 10/05/2025 19:45

I swear by dissolve it spray

Obviouslynotallthere · 10/05/2025 19:46

Washing up liquid neat on the stain. Keep It dam and give time to soak in for a bit. Wash as normal. Worth a try anyway.

It looks like this and most supermarkets sell it

Branster · 10/05/2025 19:47

I agree...that's my go to for grease

sueelleker · 10/05/2025 19:50

Layer it with kitchen paper and iron it. May soak up the worst of it.

I did that today on a grease stain from a top that had already been washed and dried. Worked a treat.

Kittkats · 10/05/2025 19:51

Dry shampoo, sprayed on and rubbed in to both sides, then wash.

CatsorDogsrule · 10/05/2025 19:53

Washing up liquid too.

Tronkmanton · 10/05/2025 19:53

Washing up liquid neat onto the stain, rub in, leave for an hour or two then wash as normal. Should work first time, if not repeat. Works even if dried in & washed already.

soupyspoon · 10/05/2025 19:54

Bi carb made into a paste, sit it for about 24 hours, then wash off.

Astrabees · 10/05/2025 19:54

You can buy Rug Doctor heavy stain remover in Tesco. I had a lot left over after I’d done the carpet and discovered it is brilliant on greasy stains, even on lightweight fabrics. It costs around £4, brilliant stuff.

Ahhhhhbisto · 10/05/2025 19:55

Definately neat washing up liquid. Coat the stain on both sides.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 10/05/2025 20:05

I had success with Elbow Grease on stains that resisted everything else.

Ponderingwindow · 10/05/2025 20:06

Washing up liquid works better than any stain treatment. I keep a small bottle in my utility room with the washing machine.

if it is really set, let it soak on the spot for a few hours before washing.

thismummydrinksgin · 10/05/2025 20:07

Best thing to use for grease is actually washing up liquid!

fatgirlswims · 10/05/2025 20:08

Washing up liquid and rub in with a soft brush

millymae · 10/05/2025 20:09

Dr Beckmans stain devil for lubricant and grease is what you need. Don’t be tempted by the fat and cooking oil one.
It has a bit of an odd smell but I use it all the time on grease stains. I dab it on the stain front and back and wash in the washing machine as usual. It’s the only thing I’ve found that really does work

.

PunxsutawneyPhilsShadow · 10/05/2025 20:10

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it 😄, but I just spray on diluted washing up liquid before washing, and that usually works.

thecatislying · 10/05/2025 20:42

😄
I reckon I'll try washing up liquid then...
Will update!

I swear by the Elbow Grease spay for oily stains. It’s saved a few of my partners clothes

This usually works with ds' hoodies.

vipersnest1 · 10/05/2025 22:00

If you have any Swarfega around that will definitely shift it, if not, near washing up liquid as PP have said.
