Which rooms have a bin in your home?

I'm not a naturally tidy person and neither are the rest of my family. I'm trying to implement systems and strategies to help us keep the house in a better state.

We have a bin in the kitchen and a small one in the bathroom. Unsurprisingly, rubbish doesn't make it into either bin as much as it should.

I think a bin in every room might help. I guess more of a waste paper type bin rather than one for anything more grubby.

Do other people have bins in several rooms or am I being ridiculous?

Every room except our bedroom because we have one in the en-suite instead

Rubbishcrabbycarehomeowners · 28/12/2024 20:20

Every room .

FuckItItsFine · 28/12/2024 20:20

Kitchen, one in each bathroom, living room, both bedrooms, study, den/games room.

Basically every room except the hall!

Doggymummar · 28/12/2024 20:21

One in each room, but two in the lounge

hideawayforever · 28/12/2024 20:22

Just the kitchen

Sossijiz · 28/12/2024 20:22

Kitchen, bathroom and study (the latter only for 'clean' waste such as paper) but it's a small house, so it's never a big deal to pick up the rubbish and take it to the nearest bin.

Kitchen and bathrooms. Hate bins in bedrooms or living room areas. We used to have bins in the kids rooms when they were little but it just meant we had more to empty.
We eventually got rid of most bins and everyone had to use the kitchen or bathroom bins.
Works well for us.

Kitchen - general waste bin, bread bag for soft plastics (clipped onto side of bin) and green compost waste (food).

Utility - box for recycling (glass, tins, cans, paper, cardboard, hard plastics).

My ensuite - general waste bin and recycling bin.

Main bathroom - general waste bin.

Adult dc2 - general waste bin, recycling bin, soft plastics bin.

Adult dc1 - 2 waste bins which seem to be rather randomly used.

General waste bins are the least used and we throw away very little in the general waste.

Kitchen , bedrooms , bathrooms , office and lounge . We have a very tidy house .

mitogoshigg · 28/12/2024 20:23

Kitchen, both dc's rooms, every bathroom including en-suite

Mrscharlieeeee · 28/12/2024 20:23

Kitchen, bathrooms and the kids bedrooms. 5 in total for general waste and then there are 2 extra in the kitchen purely for recycling. Bins in kids bedrooms is a must imo.

AzurePanda · 28/12/2024 20:24

Every single room.

Destiny123 · 28/12/2024 20:24

Thank god, I was beginning to wonder if I have failed as a wife and mother by having just the one! Is this going to cost us lots in therapy?

Motheranddaughter · 28/12/2024 20:25

All bathrooms .all bedrooms ,kitchen and sitting room

Alwaystired2023 · 28/12/2024 20:26

Oh god going against the grain here but only bins in the kitchen and in the downstairs bathroom, all rubbish is taken directly to the bin in the kitchen / recycling bin and disposed of appropriately (apart from bathroom bin which is emptied weekly). What trash is being generated in bedrooms? My worry is that you just end up with overflowing rubbish all over, just deal with things that need disposing of immediately

BasiliskStare · 28/12/2024 20:26

@Doggielove I give you this - Basilisk dog trying to helpful by emptying sitting room bin

Zippedydodah · 28/12/2024 20:26

Tuut · 28/12/2024 20:27

Kitchen, bathroom, home office and bedroom

Delphigirl · 28/12/2024 20:27

Kitchen, bathrooms/loos, kids bedrooms, guest bedrooms, study, drawing room

RubyDarke · 28/12/2024 20:28

Rubbish bins in all bathrooms and kitchen. Small plain plastic translucent open top bins with a recycling label in almost every room of the house (for dry non food recycling such as paper.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 28/12/2024 20:28

All except my toddlers as he'd just empty it

Longma · 28/12/2024 20:28

Spare room

BotterMon · 28/12/2024 20:29

Every room bar living/dining room and the halls. Including 3 bin recycling one in the kitchen. How on earth do people cope without bins in loos/bathrooms/bedrooms?
