1st time buyer of a robo cleaner vaccum except I have no idea what is what. A quick look on Amazon shows a variety of unfamiliar brands and a wide range of prices. What I'm looking for is one that does:

Mop hard floor
Vacuum
Self charges

I cant think of anything else that would be useful. Im not looking for top of the range just a decent middle of the road one. So what does everyone use?

This thread is a little old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you've landed here looking for robot vacuum cleaners recommendations, we've recently updated our best robot vacuum cleaners reviews page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it

I have a Deebot, T10 I think? It’s a Hoover and mop. I’ve found the mop function pretty useless- it’s like a light sponging which would refresh clean floors but not really touch the sides on the kind of mess my gang make! Im
not sure I’d recommend this model but think probably it’s like washer driers - gadgets that combine too many functions have too much to go wrong.

it took me a long while to get along with the app etc, and I didn’t realise how much it needs maintained. Big pro with this one is its self emptying, but still needs brushes etc cleaned after every use.

It’s better on hard floor than carpet - I imagine most are the same. Over time I’ve found it best to use my Henry hoover for a proper hoover of everything, then use Stanley as he’s named, to keep that going every day in between.

I have a Roomba iRobot.
We got it about 7 years ago and it's still going strong.

LadeOde · 11/04/2024 17:15

@Beginningless Thanks so much for your detailed post. Im like you in that i tay away from gadgets with too many all encompassing functions. Half of which one probably will never use. Do they all work through an App? I'm not a big phone user and would prefer something that doesn't involve use of the mobile phone.

@Longma Which Model are you using? there are quite a few Roomba irobots.

Not sure as it's so old!

Just realised you want a mop one too. Ours is vacuum only. I also want a mop one as well next.

LadeOde · 11/04/2024 22:42

Never mind. There are so many different types out there that do mopping as well. Just want the necessary features and trying to avoid the over the top ones that will never be used.

@LadeOde did you try one?

Looking at these myself and definitely budget range. I'd love one that can mop properly but it looks like that's asking the impossible at the sort of price point I'm at.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/05/2024 22:36

I don't think the joint mop/hoover are so good

Bit like a washer/dryer

I have Eddie. He's an eufy 30c. Had him now 3yrs I think

Before him was nigel the neato. He lasted 5yrs or so

SlipperyLizard · 02/05/2024 22:41

We’ve recently bought a Roborock s7 ultra, which vacuums and mops, and absolutely love it. We have hard floors and a dog, so lots of fur plus muddy paw prints, boots etc.

It isn’t a budget option, and you need a smart phone to operate it, but it is absolutely brilliant.

Thanks so much for your post. That was another question i was going to ask, ill just get the mop now.

Thanks all for your comments, haven't ordered it yet but starting to narrow down a bit.

@Cakeorchocolate No i havent bought one yet, a bit distracted with other home improvements at the mo but reading all the comments. On a budget here too, ideally don't want to spend more that £400 maybe 450. the only person i know who has one in rl has the mop only and thinks its brilliant. DH would like one that vacuums as well. Ive just seen another poster said the dual system works really well so now not so sure whether to stick to mop only or not. for mop and carpet id go up £600.

This is where I am at, We don't have any carpets downstairs, just tiles.
I see many unknown cheaper makes, but I feel anything decent of getting proper dirt up is going to cost me £600 plus maybe.

How is it with proper tiled floors?

Thanks, I am not interested in a vacuum one, just the tiles cleaning for me

ScottBakula · 03/05/2024 12:37

I have a Eufy11s, it just vacs . It runs every day ( twice some days ) and is about 5 years old . Very basic no app needed
I bought eufy g10 ( I think ) that mopped as well but I have had no end of problems with it and it's mopping function is like dragging is slightly damp cloth about , fine if the floor is already clean ( but then why would you mop it ) no good if the floor is even slightly dirty.

LadeOde · 03/05/2024 15:02

Thanks for all these comments on your robo cleaners, this is exactly the sort of thing i want to know.

I have 3, none more than £170 and they all do a good job. We have tiled floors but rarely use the mop function as it’s ok but not brilliant

LadeOde · 03/05/2024 18:07

@Costacoffeeplease what's the make and model of the 3 you have and which one is best out of them? how do you use them all ?

OP posts:
Costacoffeeplease · 03/05/2024 18:16

I have a venga, the first one I got, then I bought a eufy, in case the venga ever packed up. They are both similar, the venga has a remote control, the eufy has an app.

Then my husband saw one, a make I can’t remember, for 70€ in Aldi and bought it as a spare. I use them in different parts of the house.

That shows how much I wouldn’t want to be without one, I have two spares!

Costacoffeeplease · 03/05/2024 18:17

I bought one for my mum who loves it, and also one for my cousin, who also loves hers.

Taishan · 03/05/2024 20:19

But does it do a good job on the tiled floor.
Does it really pick up hair, and mop away shoe prints?

I have the Roborock S5 max which is an older model. I love it, it's great as both hoover and mop and trundles off to charge itself up as needed. It's 4 years old and still going strong, I wouldn't be without it for hard floors.

PurpleWhirple · 03/05/2024 20:48

I should have said, I paid £450, they are more like £600 now

Costacoffeeplease · 03/05/2024 22:53

The dust collector is never empty, even if the floor looks ok to the naked eye. We have lots of animals and it copes perfectly well with their fur.

LadeOde · 04/05/2024 00:09

@PurpleWhirple is the s5 self emptying or self charging? if not, is there difficulty with emptying it for either mopping or vacumming?
