What is one thing that has made your life easier or been a game changer?

to just keep on it. Every day. Don’t let things slide. Prioritise keeping your home to a standard that makes it feel like home and somewhere you like being!

Midnlghtrain · 05/02/2024 15:04

"Don't put it down, put it away"

If you live so everything has a place, and then follow that saying, everything is always in its home / where it needs to be! Means there's no clutter or mess or unnecessary tidying needing to be done because it's always kept on top of. Saves time in the long run and makes everything else feel super manageable!

RosesAndHellebores · 05/02/2024 15:05

Everything in its place. Don't pick it up, put it away.

TheScenicWay · 05/02/2024 15:06

Nothings a game changer! Boring housework and cleaning just needs to be done.
Going to bed with a clean kitchen and lounge every night, having a meal plan and doing uniforms Friday night helps to have more free time.

Lizzieregina · 05/02/2024 15:07

Pay someone else to do it?

Windydaysandwetnights · 05/02/2024 15:08

100 per cent this. Clean every day as a matter of routine.

aitchteeaitch · 05/02/2024 15:11

Train other people in the house to clear up after themselves. If they won't co-operate, dump all their crap in a box (or better still, a bin bag) and forget about it.

ilovelamp82 · 05/02/2024 15:14

Never leave a room empty handed. Take something and put it away, in the bin etc

Isthisblocked · 05/02/2024 15:18

DO IT NOW

I've recently bought a robot vacuum/ mop, I love it.

what 7 days a week??

Weftaway768 · 05/02/2024 15:33

I HATE cleaning the bathroom so do one or two separate elements 6/7 days a week 20 mins tops:

MON ~sink
TUES ~bath+ loo
WED ~shower
THURS ~surfaces and declutter plus mirror
FRI ~floor + sink
SAT ~loo

That way I never ever have to face a big bathroom clean ever again. And it always looks reasonably ok.

Also keep rubbery plastic scraper thing in shower to scrape away droplets on shower doors after use which everyone has to use.

Also use shaving foam to clean mirror so it doesn’t steam up.

I do the same thing with kitchen while I am cooking:
MON - sink
TUES - surfaces and floor
WED - surfaces vertical and horizontal except floor
THURS - fridge
FRI - bin and appliances and sink again
SAT - floor again

Love this. I aim for this - but never manage to fully keep it to that level of 'place I want to be'

EarringsandLipstick · 05/02/2024 15:39

Mine is to, conversely, clean more frequently ... I also don't like cleaning the bathrooms so I try to clean the toilets every second day, sinks on the other day & all together at the weekend.

I also know that declutterring makes a massive difference but that's an ongoing project. 😩

Morecatsarebetter · 05/02/2024 15:40

Clean the bathroom sink of toothpaste etc every day. Clean the toilet seat every day. Wipe down kitchen surfaces as soon as you’ve used them. Don’t let the kitchen bin get too full. Empty bathroom bin daily. Hoover when needed. Tidy kitchen so that the worktops don’t look a mess. Wash up after meals. Check daily what laundry needs doing and prioritise who needs what. Clean the bath with Flash liquid.

TheBirdintheCave · 05/02/2024 15:42

Declutter. If you don't have too many things then keeping what you do have clean and tidy is a doddle.

cloppyklip · 05/02/2024 15:43

A few things! Robot vacuum, white vinegar spray for cleaning glass, mirrors and stainless steal - no streaks and cheap. Half a lemon and bicarb for the oven (so much easier and cheaper than chemicals) bleach down the toilets every night.

cloppyklip · 05/02/2024 15:43

MrsTingly · 05/02/2024 15:47

If you have a new item and don't know where to keep it or it's just hanging around being clutter, ask yourself "where would I look if I knew I had one of these but it wasn't to hand?" That's where it should be.
