Dishwasher-overwhelmed with the choices

I need a new dishwasher, mine’s just been serviced and the parts would cost more than a brand new one.
I live alone, so it goes on every 2-3 days maybe.
Free standing and in white, all the cabinets are white.
Don’t need lots of fancy options, price £3-400?
what would you recommend? I’m genuinely bewildered and overwhelmed, been spending most of today getting lost in a world of bloody dishwashers!
Thank you!

The main issue for me with cutlery trays is not a space one, it’s an ease of use thing. With a basket you just throw the cutlery into the compartments, and you can also take the basket out, fill it on your counter then put it back in. (And in reverse for unloading, take basket to cutlery drawer).

The top tray ones have these little plastic prongs and you have to lay each fork, knife etc in carefully to fit between the prongs. Who’s got time for that?

Edited

We had a dishwasher with a top tray on holiday last year and it wasn’t like that at all-they didn’t have to be laid between prongs, just shoved in. Maybe some are better than others.

I mean all we looked for was one with a quick wash and a heavy duty wash......went for the cheapest, been fine for ten years. Ultimately its washing dishes!

Mine doesn't have prongs but one one side does have what I would call guides. I always use them as then the cutlery doesn't touch. I found they did in the basket so they didn't always get clean. I put all the knives together, then forks etc, the just scoop the lot up after to put away. I haven't noticed it to be anymore time consuming as you just lay the cutlery on their sides.

It seems that trays are like Marmite from this thread. Either love it or hate it.

I actually really do like a top tray. In baskets mine sometimes still had food on, where they touched when the basket was being filled.

I see what you mean about offloading the basket, it’s easy if your cutlery drawer is a few steps away. But in my case, my dishwasher is right in the middle. To the left I have the cutlery drawer, pans and pots drawer underneath, and right above the dishwasher I have the glasses and mugs to the left and the plates right above. So I don’t move at all, iyswim, it’s all within an arm’s reach.

I asked how much I need to transfer him and he said don’t worry, so I’m not 😂

We've got a zanussi that's nearly 11 years old. It's never given us a single problem (touch wood).

Sound like a great result then!
