Laundry detergent sheets anyone uses?

Feelingsickrightnow · 20/06/2023 15:36

I have seen some FB posts about using Laundry sheets instead of a gels/ pods or powder.
I never have heard of them until now, are these any good?
I’m in a search some new way of washing, fed up with capsules or thick liquids leaving gunk inside my washing machine..
I also have an atopic eczema my whole life and suddenly also my pre teen daughter started have some dermatitis too lately, I wonder if it’s due to the one we used until now ( fairy pods)
I’m using some cheap one from Sainsburys now for a week but my whole skin is pretty itchy now.
I got these Dr Beckmans Magic leaves yesterday to see.

Yes I've started using leaf laundry detergent. Very happy with it, bio and non bio.

Take up less room, cleaner ie don't burst, they always dissolve, can cut them for small loads.

Won't go back.

bizzey · 20/06/2023 15:44

I use those ones !

None of us have skin issues though so can't comment on that side of things.
They seem to be ok .
Smell lovely .
I stopped using softener in my washing machine as I think that was causing more problems in lots of ways .

I add a Dettol thing in the softener compartment instead.

On heavy stained things (Ds is a chef) I do always add some extra vanish stuff.

So ,, basicly not a very helpful reply for you !

Sorry OP 🤣!

These are the one I was eyeing on FB, but don’t know.. seems so easy, is it?
I can’t work out how it all works..

Ohh ...are they from Must Have Ideas company ??

I have seen them as well and we're going to try these ones.

I have used this company before for lots of things .

Can't vouch for this actual product but the company is good and reliable if that is my help.

Postage can be expensive for just one item .

bizzey · 20/06/2023 16:05

Just looked it up again.
100 washes for 9.99 is not bad ?

bizzey · 20/06/2023 16:07

Hummm...the Dr Beckham's ones are 25 for £4.00 .

SunnySomer · 20/06/2023 16:15

I was given some unscented Earth Breeze ones and liked them. I was sceptical about the lack of scent - dried the washing outside and it just smelled of fresh air (fine). I would probably give DS (teenage) school/work shirts an occasional go with bio powder to murder the sweat, but for my clothes and towels etc I thought the sheets were great. And much tidier to have around. Not sure about price though.

bizzey · 20/06/2023 16:18

I agree re the scent .
I like my clothes( and bedding and towels ) with scent but the DS's said they did not want to go to school smelling of flowers !!!

CatsRebellion · 20/06/2023 16:24

I use Earth Breeze, the scented ones. They're brilliant! I've been using them a few months now and have them on subscription. The pricing is weird though. I can't remember what price the website says they are when you subscribe - it might be £9 or similar - but when the payment leaves my bank account it's only £7-odd and a currency exchange fee of a few pence. That's for 40 washes. They also donate ten washes to a cause of your choice each time.

Feelingsickrightnow · 20/06/2023 16:27

The Dr Beckmann were apprx £3.50 in home bargains I think.
I did not want to buy 100s if no good, only wanted to see how that are.
Just used the Dr Beckmann on small wash for the first time and it has no fragrance at all, if so extremely weak one.
Yeah I like the idea of the Simple sheets from Must have ideas.

I don't because I'm pretty much allergic to everything and have found something I can use. My mum does though and raves about them. Wish I could.

Doidontimmm · 20/06/2023 16:54

I use dr Beckmans and love them, they have a gorgeous smell, not sure why yours don’t? Very strange! I’m in Scotland though so maybe the softer water changes the smell.

octopusrus · 20/06/2023 17:16

Have you tried the Eco Egg? I've got the fragrance free one and it's great. I only use washing powder now for really filthy football kit, for instance, so 9 washes out of 10 there are no chemicals or perfumes. Lasts for ages so really good economically too.

Jux · 20/06/2023 17:16

I've been using them for years and I think they're great. No need for fabric conditioner either, so win win win win win win win win win win win

I've got a sub to Earth Breeze. 99% of my washing is with one sheet on 30C.

Recently upped the "dose" to one pack a month as elderly relative needing more washing done now.

They are £9 for a pack, 40 sheets.

I think they're brilliant. I hated powder and liquid I found a bit of a pain as well.

Well.worth the price.

TellySavalashairbrush · 20/06/2023 17:39

I took a pack of the Dr Beckmans one’s on holiday abroad and they were so convenient. Great at washing clothes too.

letstrythis · 20/06/2023 17:42

Yes they work fine, just like normal laundry detergent.
There's an episode of sliced bread on bbc iplayer about this and they were highly rated for their environmental credentials

Sunshineandrainbow · 20/06/2023 17:48

Haven't tried them but will do.

Is there a non bio one that might be better for your skin.

whoruntheworldgirls · 20/06/2023 17:55

Glad to read this, buying the Dr Beckman ones to take to the US on holiday as don't want to risk gel etc

ChocolateCoveredCookie · 20/06/2023 17:55

Thanks @RandomMess
The sample pack I’ve linked is actually the ‘best overall’ so I hope they perform well for me.

SmurfetteSalad · 20/06/2023 19:56

We use these:

wearedip.co.uk

BlueberryBasket · 20/06/2023 20:00

We use these https://ecolaundryclub.com/
Pleasant but gentle smell and no problems with cleaning power, plus much easier to store etc.

SunnyspellsandScatteredshowers · 20/06/2023 20:20

I got some of those Must Have Ideas ones. I'm not convinced they do a good job to be honest. They don't get stains out, even with stain remover. And the 100 sheets is deceptive, its 1 sheet for a 4kg wash. My machine is 10kg, so I'd have to use 2 or even 3 sheets per wash. Must have Ideas has some great products, and you can return things if you're not happy. I thought about returning but not sure I can be bothered. I'll just use them on less dirty washing!
