Laundry detergent sheets anyone uses?

Feelingsickrightnow · 20/06/2023 15:36

I have seen some FB posts about using Laundry sheets instead of a gels/ pods or powder.
I never have heard of them until now, are these any good?
I’m in a search some new way of washing, fed up with capsules or thick liquids leaving gunk inside my washing machine..
I also have an atopic eczema my whole life and suddenly also my pre teen daughter started have some dermatitis too lately, I wonder if it’s due to the one we used until now ( fairy pods)
I’m using some cheap one from Sainsburys now for a week but my whole skin is pretty itchy now.
I got these Dr Beckmans Magic leaves yesterday to see.

Thank you for the Must have ideas sheets PP .
I might have to have a re think !

Feelingsickrightnow · 21/06/2023 16:35

I did today a 95 min dark wash with two Dr Beckamms sheets and the washing has a tiny white deposits all over it. That kind like you would wash it with paper tissue but more smaller, like tiny white hair.
I cant work out what caused it there was nothing inside the washing machine, no tissues or anything, only dark colours clothes.
I was not happy as its all over DHs work navy work tops and his new Calvin's pants, which now look like 10 yrs old pants!
The only thing which was different was I used them sheets.
Could it be from that?
If so, that's not good.
I used 40 degrees temperature 95mins wash.
After I had to another quick wash to get rid of it, which didn't work at all. Clothes look now like old rags..

I bought Dr Beckmann sheets for going away in campervan for a long holiday. Really convenient and obviously take up very little room. No concerns over spillage etc. Worked well and when I was doing a small wash I cut a sheet in 2. Will keep on using them.

Mojitomogul · 23/06/2023 07:41

I use these and they smell lovely, not a strong smell just fresh. They've lasted ages and I use two sheets for a full load. My skin is sensitive and has been fine with these. From Amazon I think.

I'm trying the Must Have ones.
They seem to work as well as Persil liquid.

I just use a single sheet.
Mind you we don't have proper dirty washing (eg overalls/muddy sports kit).

Has anyone used the simple sheets from must have ideas? Considering buying some as need to take on holiday.

beeswain · 25/06/2023 11:07

Yes, I use these, they are fantastic. 1 sheet is fine for things not too soiled, 2 does the trick for very soiled/sports/gardening clothes.

whoruntheworldgirls · 26/06/2023 11:49

Thank you @beeswain will order some

Lucington · 03/09/2023 11:06

I bought & used Simple Sheets on the basis that they were Hypoallergenic. Admittedly I did not study the packet until I started itching all over. To my horror, there is a Warning & I quote: Keep out of reach of children. 'Causes skin irritation. Causes serious eye irritation. Read label before use. Wash hands & face thoroughly after handling. If experiencing respiratory symptoms, call a doctor/poison Centre. If inhaled & breathing is difficult, remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with regulations.' And they market this vile stuff, protecting themselves from litigation by their Warning, a disgrace! Now pondering how to dispose of it safely......

Been using them for a few years, love them. DH likes his heavy bulky old powder though, so we have both. Really annoying!

Do any of you ladies in England know the best product to use for washing underwear that won't cause itching in intimate areas?. My whole body has super sensitive skin. And even toilet roll can cause intense irritation. I really need laundry stuff that won't cause itching.

ruralwanderer · 29/02/2024 06:45

I've started using the unscented laundry sheets from the green company as I suffer with eczema and am really pleased with them. I bought a pack of 64 with a discount code that I found online for about £5.50 and will definitely buy more when I run out.

RandomMess · 29/02/2024 08:54

@Kairii1988 as well as finding a mild unscented detergent you need to ensure that your washing machine is clean and not use fabric conditioner.

If you the drawer for detergent and/or conditioner the pipes end up with deposits on them so when you rinse there is still detergent being added.

You also need to check if there is a medical issue going on. My years of uncomfortable itching was my coil threads irritating 😠 all symptoms disappeared once it was removed.

Try an Eco Egg - the unscented one - works great and no chemicals.

I was interested in these cos my milkman delivers them however they are made in China, so it's a no from me.

Blueberrylemoncake · 20/06/2023 21:13

That's good to know. I can't understand the previous post from the Independent with the reviews of the product and "eco" credentials. As far as I can see it doesn't say where manufacturing takes place and an awful lot of these sheets seem to be made in China.

Great to find some made here in the UK. I will buy them.

Do you mean the Co Lab ones? I could not find any info on the box that they are made in China. They are cruelty free so that tells me not (whilst all products are tested on animals there)

Yes @biedrona. I emailed them as I was interested and they confirmed made in China.

25sheets · 08/03/2024 12:46

So I've bought my washing sheets from Every day Green as suggested above (made in UK!). Haven't used them yet so can't give feedback. They've just sent me an email with their products.

Has anyone used a shower block? https://www.everydaygreen.co.uk/collections/shower-blocks/products/christmas-tree-shower-block

I'm interested but can't see what the difference is between that and a bar of soap. I don't want soap cos of the scum.

I use the dr beckman ones and have been happy with the performance.
Can’t comment on the allergies thing as we are lucky to not have that in our family.
