Could you tell me what to do with some things?

the options are
Bin
Recycling
junk modelling bag for school
Charity shop
anywhere else I haven’t thought of like, can they be repurposed in some way.
they are pods from blind bag type things, they are too much like ‘things ‘ to throw away but I can’t think what else to do.
and if it’s okay I will post more photos of things I’m not sure what to do with.

Personally I would throw them away.
But I'm sure a crafty person will come along soon and give you a fantastic idea !!

seven201 · 13/11/2022 09:26

I'm a crafty person but I'd still Chuck them out. I try and go by "if in doubt, chuck it out" (charity when appropriate of course) but don't always succeed as I have too much stuff.

FindingMeno · 13/11/2022 09:27

Bin

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 13/11/2022 09:27

Throw them away.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/11/2022 09:27

Chuck in plastic bin

Ravageur · 13/11/2022 09:28

What else you got? Let's have a look then!

Fireweeds · 13/11/2022 09:29

Thank you. I think sometimes I need someone to tell me this. You don’t think I should send them for junk modelling? Then they’d at least get one more use?

the kids do get them out & fiddle with them, but I can’t see that they really do anything with them. but the fact that they get them out makes it hard to just bin them. God my brain is really out to get me 😂

On the recycling bin for plastics (if your council take coloured plastic. Ours doesn't) or the general waste.

Fireweeds · 13/11/2022 09:30

It’s going to take a while to gather the things up, I had a bunch of stuff out a while ago but had to pack it all back up. But believe me there is more.

So. Much. More.

I'd take it to the junk modelling "store" in school.

rainbowstardrops · 13/11/2022 09:32

Do they come apart like a Kinder egg type thing?
If so, could you use them at Easter to put little eggs in for an Easter hunt?

Fireweeds · 13/11/2022 09:39

They do come apart. I have some egg shaped ones that I keep for Easter or at least I do when I can find them. Maybe I will pop them in junk modelling, then they might be used with a purpose.

Charity shop

squashyhat · 13/11/2022 09:56

Charity shop for the specs and cases, recycling for the chocolate box.

silverclock222 · 13/11/2022 09:57

In order of pics Bin / charity shop / use this christmas

TheHauntedPencilCase · 13/11/2022 09:59

Junk modeling for the box in my view. I tend to use them up for Xmas and birthday but get rid if you won't. Our opticians has now reinstated the glasses recycling scheme but won't take the cases. I would have thrown those so interesting to see they are a possible charity shop option.

pimlicoanna · 13/11/2022 10:01

I'm constantly throwing stuff like this in the bin

barskits · 13/11/2022 10:05

If there is an Oxfam shop near you, donate the glasses cases to them. They take glasses to be sent to developing countries, so I'm sure they will be pleased to get cases.

America12 · 13/11/2022 10:16

Specsavers still take old glasses.
Rest of it bin / recycling.

Do they? Oxfam never turned up in my previous searches for donating glasses. I will check out the opticians again definitely, it wasn’t long after lockdown I last checked. I’m sure one of us will be due there soon enough.

honestly can’t thank you all enough, I know these seem like really stupid, obvious decisions, but occasionally I get so mired in what ifs and landfill worries I can’t make the breakthrough.

it’s especially these things which I can see at one level are rubbish, but are also too much like things to throw away that I struggle with. It’s like iPad/iPhone boxes. It’s packaging which you throw away, but so solid, it feels as if you should keep it for some unspecified use….

Do they fit together - the first pic. You could give it to nursery for fine motor skills and maybe staff to put something in for children to find (treasure) or objects (for counting). Children love that sort of thing.

Toomanysleepycats · 13/11/2022 10:31

Hi I feel for you. I’m happy to declutter but hate the idea of everything going to landfill. So much stuff being made, used once and then into landfill.

My first thought at the plastic eggs and choccy box was to wonder if a school or nursery would use them for craft time.

But that’s extra work, ringing around and asking, driving there etc. So it’s no wonder that most people say bin it. Bless you for trying.

Re-use ideas for plastic eggs - keep earring, cuff links in. If on medication put daily pills in. Would £1 coins fit, keep in car/handbag for parking or supermarket trolleys.

Ive used flat boxes to keep my jewellery in, or recycle the box and keep ribbon bow for Christmas wrappings.
