Anyone used Purdy and Figg?

Quite like the sound of their cleaning products but wonder if anyone has used them? Smell is important to me but also want them to actually clean.

I have the introductory offer. I don't love it. The smells are very strong although particularly nice. I'm also sceptical if they work as well as advertised. I tend to use it as a final step after traditional cleaning (defeating the purpose I know) just to use it up but I won't buy it again.

I use them. It’s definitely worth getting the starter kit for £15. I clean virtually everything with them.

i like their ethos, no plastic and refillable bottles. I also like that they are less toxic than mass made cleaning products.

If I have people coming over just cleaning my worktops makes the kitchen small nice with minimal work.

From a budget perspective it’s fairly simple to clean 90% of your house with white vinegar, bicarbonate and essential oils and to be honest once I’ve used up all my Purdy & Figg that is probably what I will do from a cost perspective as £5ish per vial is too expensive long term.

FlamingMadKatie · 13/11/2022 17:30

I spent £15 on a trial pack which included the spray bottle, cloth and one vial. Now I’m seeing offers from P&F for £15 with four feckin vials!!! It’s ok but the promise of a fragrant house came to nowt. It’s ok, but not all it’s cracked up to be on Instagram. Feeling quite cheated tbh, I’d say don’t waste your cash.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/11/2022 17:59

I like the glass spray bottle but they are literally essential oil blends which you mix with water. The house did smell nice but it didn’t last, I think the 20ml to 200 ml water is too dilute for any significant scent.
. Because they are oils they left smears on anything shiny, eg windows, shower screen and laminate worktop.
i cancelled my subscription after the intro offer, but as always with these things it was incredibly difficult to cancel and I had to email customer services in the end.
far more economical to use essential oils in a diffuser or burner to get the scent, and use a regular cleaning product to actually clean.

theoldhasgone · 15/11/2022 15:48

Thanks everyone, have decided not to bother as the introductory offer signs you up to a subscription. Sneaky.

I do actually love this product. Finding it very effective for cleaning general day to day muck etc. it’s not effective on limescale (I didn’t expect it to be) and the scent does fade quite quickly, but for me the pull is this product being versatile and importantly non toxic.
That said, I’m also researching how to make my own version of this as it is indeed pricy. The glass bottles and materials used are no doubt costly and their marketing has been strong… so I’ll probably see how I get on with making my own and buy some refills ever so often, as I am a fan (it’s just costly).

Fourfurrymonsters · 16/02/2023 21:17

@FireandMoon I make my own. 1 part Isopropyl alcohol (from eBay), 3 parts water, a skoosh of washing up liquid and around a tablespoon of essential oils (or to your liking, enough to cover the smell of the alcohol). I’m currently using ginger and green tea which is divine. Lemongrass and ginger or grapefruit is lovely too. It’s cheap, and also fab for granite/quartz worktops as well as non-acidic. Honestly has saved me a fortune and a shedload of plastic over time as I just keep refilling glass bottles I bought years ago, and DH still claims it’s the best household cleaner he’s ever used.

SirVixofVixHall · 16/02/2023 21:23

I bought it. Hardly “plastic free” when the thing that does the actual cleaning is the microfibre cloth, so micro plastic shedding. So that is a bit annoying.
I hadn’t really registered that you add water to an essential oil mix. It doesn’t seem to have any cleaning agents, unless I am mistaken ? I think it smells nice and is probably slightly anti bacterial.

Hi there
Can I ask, did you cancel your subscription within the 90days or were you forced to have one delivery
Many thanks

No, I did cancel it within the 90 days but I did have to be quite forceful with them.

Whatonearth07957 · 02/05/2023 18:36

I love mine. Actually makes me clean as smells so nice and I find it really effective.

I cancelled as soon as I placed the order, also used a 10% discount on the intro price so only 13.50 (I opted for the fly away build you own which only had 3 vials but there was a 4 vial starter at the same price).
Was really easy, just went into manage subscription on account and pressed cancel!

Grapewrath · 22/07/2023 11:29

I didn’t like it tbh- smelled ok but was super expensive and not that effective
I prefer Neat

After trying just about every plastic free cleaner going, I have finally settled on Smol for my kitchen surfaces as it ticks every box for me.
I did like P&F but found it WAY too expensive to use all the time, even when I used half the recommended dilution.
I have used Splosh for a few years now but am falling out of love with it as the goalposts seem to constantly change re delivery costs and the punches seem far too faffy now easier solutions are on the market.
I have found Iron and Velvet pretty rubbish and my shower is actually more grotty after using the daily shower spray than before.
I use Ocean Drop glass cleaner and it's OK.
has anyone found a plastic-free daily shower spray or dishwasher rinse aid that works and does not cost a fortune?

Liane321 · 31/07/2023 00:34

I really like Spruce natural cleaning products… the kitchen one in particular.

They send you a starter kit of re-usable metal bottle and sachets of crystals you mix with water, the sachet is compostable.

Then you can order or subscribe for refill packs of 3 sachets by post. Lasts a while and cleans the muck, leaves a fresh citrus scent.

HillyFilly · 03/09/2023 11:33

I love Neat products….. shower clean especially good.

Jan1966 · 27/09/2023 08:11

I use zoflora, I know it's not as ecologically sound but seems divine and it's a hell of a lot cheaper. At the mo I am using the rhubarb one. Just use an old spray bottle, add a bit and fill with water x

MrsKezFord · 04/10/2023 17:14

I bought this based on the hype and the promise if a fragrant home. Yes, its environmentally friendly but so is Koh (my cleaner of choice) P&F does make my chrome ware sparkle but doesn't remove grease like koh does. Its smells good for about 10 minutes. I'm not sure whether to continue as I was looking for a fragrant home as well as kind to environment and works well on all surfaces overall. I score 1 out of 3 and that for the environment.

chipshopElvis · 04/10/2023 17:27

I ve bought a couple of introductory bundles and cancelled the subscription with ease online. I clean more often because they smell nice and I like the naturalness. I'll do another when they run out.

CatusFlatus · 04/10/2023 17:50

I didn't think any of the three fragrances were particularly nice. In fact they were so strong they made me feel nauseous and I couldn't use them. Yes, I did dilute as per the instructions. Horrid!

Parker231 · 04/10/2023 17:55

I like them - use them all the time. Like just having one product is rather than a cupboard full.

BeforetheFlood · 04/10/2023 18:02

I'm another P&F one time purchaser. I really liked one of the fragrances in the starter kit, was meh about one and actively disliked the third.

What also annoys me is the lack of choice and flexibility. The cheapest way of buying is £15 for the starter kit, but I don't want the two fragrances I didn't much like, and I don't need another refill bottle and cloth (not very eco-friendly to buy them for the sake of it.) If there was an option to buy the fragrance I did like for £5 or so I'd probably get it every now and then, but I just feel ripped off spending bigger bucks on stuff I don't need. The fact that it's cheaper to buy the kit with the refill bottle than the three oils on their own makes it feel too much like a con.

MintyCedric · 04/10/2023 18:05

I had the trial pack. Was pleasantly surprised at how well it cleans and liked the smell but found it didn’t last long which was my primary reason for trying it so not sure I’d buy again.

FauxWhiteOrchid · 04/11/2023 10:58

This is an interesting thread. My socials are inundated with P&F ads ATM. A friend has a bottle and sprayed some onto her kitchen table. It did smell divine but how well does it clean showers and sinks?

Liane321 · 05/11/2023 09:55

Another vote for spruce, excellent natural kitchen cleaner in a re-useable metal bottle
